HP: For a better world

Chapter 100 Potions Test

"Duo duo."

It was the knock of a cane hitting the ground.

A voice spoke slowly: "Ladies and gentlemen, should we start this activity?"

He wore a hood, but was not afraid of being seen. He just covered his iconic platinum hair perfunctorily and stood in the middle with a cane: "Forgive my eagerness, but for the result of this great experiment. Stop talking nonsense and bring the werewolf out... If you wait any longer, the moon will come out."

"Today is not a good time to admire the moonlight, my friend. There is a werewolf waiting for the full moon." Malfoy said, gesturing towards two iron cages in the middle of the venue.

The cage was empty, with rusty chains randomly stacked inside. It was used to hold dangerous creatures. Perhaps it was a treasured collection of magical creatures that the Apothecary Guild used to hold. The cage had signs of having been used more than once.

Looking upwards, one can see the temporarily modified dome, through which dim sunlight begins to leak.

Under the cage was a simple stone platform, and the wizards who came to watch sat in a circular staircase around the center.

They were all far away from the center. Only a few assistants who took over the experiment stayed here.

Hearing Malfoy's sarcasm about their slow motion, the old wizard at the end of the conference room couldn't help coughing and interrupted him angrily: "The werewolf you brought is being examined. We must first confirm his safety - Malfoy...Mr."

The old wizard questioned:

"why is it you again?"

He glared politely but not politely enough: "Is this also your property, Malfoy?"

He looked like he wanted to kick Malfoy out himself, and kept moving his eyes to the security guards on both sides.

"Oh no, of course not," Malfoy said elegantly, "but I have invested a lot... more than you can imagine, my dear friend."

"Although you don't look like you want to see me, it doesn't matter." Lucius raised his cane and greeted him with a smile: "I forgive your anger, Mr. President. Daniel's incident is a pity, and none of us want to see such a thing happen. But he is doing well now, isn't he? ... In a potion workshop... dissection, brewing medicine... I really think he is doing well now."

"He promised me that he would use some of his improved prescriptions to thank me for filling his debt." Lucius sighed, "To be honest, I didn't do this for his prescriptions...ha!"

He raised his arm.

"It makes me sound like I have bad intentions." He sighed in a fake way: "I am a businessman."

"...I can't support his crazy experiments forever...no reward, no end...nothing. I understand that potion masters treasure their potions and reputations, and White is no exception.

But my Galleons weren't made by Nico Flamel with the Philosopher's Stone... I'm really sorry that this happened, but it all worked out well, didn't it? Daniel had the heart to give up his... and to repay my generosity by working for me for free for ten years. I was really ashamed and touched... He insisted that I take it, but goblins don't want to let go of anything they can get."

Malfoy shrugged and said, "So I can only help him get rid of... part of the debt - a large part. At least his blood will not be used as food for vampires, and I will not see his hands being sold as "honorable" products in some alley shops one day... Who made him not seek help from his dear sponsor, but choose to go to Knockturn Alley to find those hidden people?

Goblins are not fair unicorns that will kneel down to kind wizards... They 'love' to collect debts from wizards. "Malfoy said casually,

"You know - 'the one with the wand'."[1]

"Damn it!" the old wizard cursed, "No one will believe you, Malfoy, fuck you richman!"

Malfoy said lazily, "Watch your language, old friend, you are also a rich man..." He wrinkled his nose and said disdainfully, "I thought I was very kind by not letting him fall to the point of selling himself to goblins to pay off his debts. You know how those goblins treat wizards when they have the chance."

Malfoy smiled modestly, as if Daniel's survival was all his credit.

"Of course I know what those pointy-eared things will do..." The old wizard looked like he wanted to curse, but was reminded and had to change the subject reluctantly: "Okay, I just ask one thing - where is the potion master himself?"

The old wizard said in a businesslike manner, "He should be here, watching his own potion experiments instead of having a peacock with its feathers spread out walking around the guildhall in his place."[2]

"What do you know?" he said sarcastically. "If something goes wrong, you will just withdraw your investment... What else can you do?"

"Of course I came to the scene on behalf of our genius himself. To be frank, I didn't invest so much just for one or two bottles of potion collection. Please..." Malfoy spread his hands, "After all, I invested so much just hoping that this potion would bring me more returns."

"Of course it's only reassuring to see it with your own eyes," Malfoy responded politely.

"Then this gentleman also has his mentor." The old wizard said unconvinced.

"His teacher is also here, Severus Snape, the guardian of our new genius." Malfoy spoke slowly and nodded to Snape, who had been sitting there for some time.

Snape responded coolly.

Seeing that the last reason for driving Malfoy away had disappeared, the old wizard could only warn him: "I hope I won't hear from you that you bribed other staff members and took away the patent for the potion formula. You are too greedy... Malfoy... You have condensed several years of process into one month. If something goes wrong, everything will be exposed."

He glanced at them majestically. Some people unconsciously avoided his gaze. The old wizard's face became even more gloomy.

What a shame, this time it’s not just me who is greedy.

Malfoy smiled calmly and defended his blatant manipulation of the staff: "I didn't bribe anyone, old friend..." He said regretfully: "No one is willing to take such a risk... Everything is a normal process, I just contributed a little bit in the approval process..."

He nodded his chin, as if this amount of force was equivalent to the range of movement of his chin.

"Minister Fudge has guaranteed the integrity of the Ministry of Magic... I can tell you with certainty at this point that the accelerated process will not interfere with the power of the potion itself. I am only seeking efficiency, my friend... The proven potion will also become a collection for pure-blood families."

"...The emergence of such an excellent potion is something that all wizards who have suffered from werewolves will welcome." Malfoy said cunningly, raising his hand to signal the "volunteer" next to him to come forward.

Malfoy twirled his stick and tucked it back to his waist.

"Introductions!" Malfoy said, raising his chin: "This is Mr. Thompson," he turned around and introduced the silent wizard next to him, who looked a little sloppy because of the torn corners of his clothes.

There is no last name or middle name, obviously just a random pseudonym. No one cares about the name of a person who sells his life for money. Failed potions are all highly toxic, and real potions can sometimes be fatal if used incorrectly... Potions experiments are not simple attempts.

Although the association will protect the safety of the "volunteer" to a limited extent for observation, and he will not be torn into pieces by the werewolf after drinking the potion, but if the potion does not work, he will really turn into a werewolf.

The second werewolf to be revealed recently. A wizard who was so poor that his robes were torn turned into a werewolf...

"Our volunteers," Malfoy said lazily, "...accepted my generous gift and volunteered to be the subjects of this experiment.

Malfoy pushed the man next to him, motioning him to go forward and into the cage on the stage.

Five thousand gold galleons to buy this man's life.

Regardless of whether he would die after drinking the potion, the three thousand Galleons would be his, and two thousand would be given to the goblin to ensure that Malfoy would fulfill his promise. Five thousand gold Galleons was equivalent to the income of a wizard working for more than ten years, the kind of income without expenses, and this was only earned in one day.

The man panted and confirmed, "Five thousand gold Galleons? Are you sure you will give it to me if I drink the potion?"

Malfoy added calmly, "And a werewolf bite. Yes, Gringotts witnessed it."

Malfoy curled his lips and glanced at him arrogantly, sneering: "Only five thousand gold Galleons." Poor guy.

The man went up, and the people next to him put chains around him, used magic to make sure it was tied tightly, and then checked.

"Confirmed to be healthy! Meets the requirements!" the assistant shouted.

"Very good," said the old wizard, "bring up the werewolf."

The door of the conference room was opened, and Remus Lupin walked in with his hands handcuffed and his head lowered, sandwiched between two wizards who were always on guard against him.

"Remus Lupin." The old wizard read, "You will participate in this experiment as an assistant. You are in good health, and have no history of other major diseases before this?"

"Yes." Lupin answered in a low voice. The gazes around him were terribly dazzling. The handcuffs were a little tight, but as soon as he moved, the two wizards next to him would nervously reach for their wands.

His wand was confiscated and stored in the association. After three days of inspection, he still had to admit in front of everyone that he was not a beast with an infectious disease... The scope of the inspection even included rabies.

"Very good," the old wizard handed a bottle of familiar potion to the assistant beside him, who also handed it over on a tray.

"This is a bottle of wolfsbane potion that will ensure your sanity when you transform and ensure your safety."

Lupin glanced at the man in the cage who was beginning to tremble as he watched him, then retracted his gaze to the bottle of familiar "old friend".

He raised his hand, and the handcuffs pulled his other hand to move. It turned out that there was no situation of handcuffing a citizen, just because he was a werewolf, and today was a full moon, for the safety of everyone, he accepted the request of the Pharmacist Association.

Sirius stayed at home restlessly only after he was severely stopped. Otherwise, it was hard to imagine what would happen to a fugitive from Azkaban who was still charged with murder when so many famous wizards appeared - Lupin was not worried about himself, but only about Sirius.

"He's been gone for three days. I hope he didn't fight with Kreacher." Lupin muttered, holding the bottle of medicine with both hands and drinking it all.

The bitter taste of the potion spread from the tip of his tongue to his stomach... He suddenly realized that, unlike the strange taste in the past, this potion was no longer Snape's work.

There wouldn’t be that many disgusting, sticky tastes that would make you want to vomit… and there wouldn’t be that many variations.

Lupin straightened his back again and spoke.

"Let's go."

Lupin's pale face showed his identity as a werewolf wizard, and as a special case who had studied at Hogwarts, there were some young wizards here, not only his peers, his juniors, but also those older than him... who had witnessed the glorious days of the robbery foursome.

The British wizarding world is a strange circle, and most people know each other, as they have lived in the same castle.

The moon is about to rise.

"Hurry up," Malfoy urged.

Snape's sinister eyes lingered on Lupin's face wantonly. Even though everyone already knew that Lupin was a werewolf, he still felt happy to see this scene.

White has always been keen on how to hit a person's pain points.

Snape thought with evil amusement, and was particularly eager to see the person bitten by Lupin appear at the scene. He wondered what kind of blow it would be to a werewolf who always controlled himself and didn't want to hurt anyone to accept his own dirty nature.
