HP: For a better world
Chapter 10: Boring Divination Class and Leaving Something Behind
"Morning, Winster."
"Morning, Hermione."
Winster responded to Hermione in a somewhat muffled voice. They were taking a divination class in a classroom filled with mixed aromas at the top of the astronomy tower.
——Rather than a classroom, it is more like a compartment that is half attic and half used as a teahouse. Even the location of the classroom is more like a small room built on the top in Winster's previous concept, used to store some sundries.
This place is indeed a bit like a utility room, with small round tables and armchairs crowded together in the room. The dim light can hardly see the various dirty quills, half-burned candle ends, playing cards and a pile of ceramic teacups on the old wooden shelf next to it. There are also silver crystal balls, which seem to be the only things that can be used regularly in this class.
Professor Sybill Trelawney was sitting by a mantelpiece, staring at the steam rising from the teapot in the fireplace with a dazed look, as if she saw something in the future worth pondering.
"Ah... children, welcome, welcome to the chaotic spiritual space - I am very happy to see you in the material world today, it's great." Trelawney turned her head, the fancy glasses on her face magnified her eyes several times, her gauze shawl was full of glittering metal pieces, and countless bracelets and rings were intertwined as if to tie her to reality.
"Sit down, my children, sit down," she said, and the students climbed into the armchairs or fell on the cushions. Winster held his nose and sat in a corner with Luo.
"Welcome to the Divination class," Professor Trelawney said in a disembodied voice, "I am Professor Trelawney. You may not have seen me before. I know that many people who have heard of me regard me as a liar who is full of lies. The only true prophecies I have made in my life are the Dark Lord and the chosen child... Ah, child, it is the prophecy of our savior that you know." She nodded to a Gryffindor girl who kept looking at Harry's forehead. "Although you have chosen Divination, which is the most profound of all magical arts. But I must warn you like many prophets in history who have predicted bad futures and have been questioned. Most of you may not have talent... In this field, if a person does not have talent, what he can do will be very... very limited, unless you can become one of those great wizards who are recorded in history in the future..."
"Professor, what use is Divination class to most of us?" a Gryffindor girl couldn't help but ask.
"Ah...what's your name, kid?"
"Lavender Brown, Professor Trelawney."
"Ah, Lavender, can I call you that, dear?" After getting Lavender's expectant promise, Professor Trelawney said, "Although this course requires extremely high talent, for wizards, we all have more or less predictive abilities, such as the dreams we have... Dear, by the way, let me tell you - the thing you fear most will happen on Friday, October 16th."
Lavender blanched.
"What we need to learn is the revelation that every sign in life brings to wizards. Many prophecies in history happened inadvertently, and people often only realized it after that." Professor Trelawney said calmly. Then she announced that the first thing they would learn this semester was to focus on tea leaf interpretation. In the second semester, they would start to learn palmistry, and in the summer semester, they would start to learn crystal ball divination.
"Why did you come to learn Divination?" Loial asked as he listened to Professor Trelawney saying that they would have a suspension of classes in February and some of them would leave forever at Easter - "I mean, you are the kind of wizard who would say 'birth is not everything'."
Winster secretly opened a crack in the window opposite, put his wand back into his sleeve, breathed a sigh of relief at the fresh air, and put down the tissue that had been covering his nose: "I don't think I need to repeat my amnesia again... In fact, I have chosen all the courses, and I plan to experience all the courses that interest me this school year and then finally decide what I want to study." He said.
"How exaggerated." Loial sighed. Professor Trelawney asked them to go to her in pairs to get a cup of tea. They briefly gave up the conversation and took turns to get their own cups of tea.
The chaotic aroma sneaked away with the scent of tea.
Winston sniffed the tea and found it bland, with the tea dregs swirling in the swirling steam. He sipped it with a bit of disdain, and the tea still had a slightly unnoticeable bitterness. Then, as Professor Trelawney had said, he shook the teacup three times with his left hand, turned it upside down on the plate, and waited for the last drop of tea to seep out.
"I didn't know about you guys before I made this decision." Winster said absentmindedly. He turned the teacup over to look at the shape of the tea dregs. "It looks a bit like a bat." He said, pushing the teacup to Luo. Luo also pushed his to Winster. The tea dregs in Luo's teacup were scattered irregularly like a black and green fox covering its eyes: "Let me see what yours corresponds to... Fox means deception and concealment, but it also means companionship... I guess this means that you concealed something from your friend, a friendly concealment." Winster frowned.
"Open your eyes, my dear, and see through the fog!" said Professor Trelawney from the other end of the classroom.
Loiot followed suit and flipped through the book. After a while, he paused and said with a hint of uncertainty: "Bats... symbolize disease, bites, and healing?" Loiot looked up blankly, "Why do bats also symbolize healing?"
Winster thought of his teacher's most famous nickname, and remembered that Snape would wave his wand impatiently to make medicine for the hospital wing. He answered him with a smile: "Maybe it's because bat wings will be involved in the potion."
Bat wings are one of the most common potion ingredients, and Old Bat is the nickname of Professor Snape, who is 'favorite' of Gryffindor.
Luo turned the teacup counterclockwise, and Winster saw the black bat again. It seemed to be looking at him, revealing its sharp and slender teeth, and gradually spreading its bat wings.
"Do you feel like it's changing?"
"What?... When turned upside down, it looks like a black dog... Which answer should I look at?" Luo Ou didn't pay attention to what he said. He just kept talking to himself and flipping through the book frantically.
At this moment, Professor Trelawney's attention seemed to be drawn to Harry and Ron.
Hermione's voice came through the crowd of students clearly: "Everyone knows about Harry and the mysterious man, you just vaguely said what everyone knows--"
Luo's attention was also drawn to that. "What are they saying over there?"
There was a sound of shattering, and Professor Trelawney suddenly gasped and screamed loudly: "Ominous! Ominous! A big, sinister dog... Be careful, my dear! This is the most dangerous symbol, a deadly omen!" The students gathered in a circle burst into a short scream.
Winster sat where he was.
"Well... now you know what this dog represents." He shrugged and said, "Maybe this year I will be bitten by a bat and get a serious illness and almost die from it... You know, bats have a lot of bacteria."
"Goodbye. I'd rather believe that you'll be severely scolded by Professor Snape... If this goes on, you'll have to stay in the hospital wing for a few days every year." Luo complained.
"It sounds like I wasn't in good health before?"
"No..." Loial counted on his fingers, "Last year you provoked a dark magic item and stayed in the hospital wing for all your exams until the holiday day. Then you were transferred to St. Mungo's." Loial counted off a finger, "The year before last you had a fierce fight with Selwyn. Professor Snape sent you to the hospital wing for a few days and didn't allow anyone to visit you, although you went to get revenge halfway. I don't know how you escaped Madam Pomfrey's eyes - the Weasley twins would have said you were too healthy after hearing this."
Winster fell silent.
This sounds too much. Although only two examples were given... Winster still hasn't forgotten what Luoou said last night about the "purple rooster" and helping "us"... Luoou and his team turned out to be more than five people. And these two things were either shocking events in Slytherin House, or they were involved in school events - or not just in school, Horcruxes are much more terrifying than revenge between students.
"It sounds like I was a little too lively before." Winster said from the bottom of his heart. For a moment, he was finally a little worried that he might have changed too much from the original owner. He thought to himself that he was a good boy who was obedient and studious, and it was difficult for him to cause so many troubles.
Loio fell into silence strangely. He hesitated for a while, feeling that he couldn't go against his conscience and praise her as "lively". "You...you used to be quite quiet most of the time. You just didn't interact with many people and were often alone. If you hadn't helped us, you wouldn't have provoked Selwyn and the others."
Professor Trelawney may have finally felt that he could not win the argument with Hermione, and began to think that she had no talent. Seamus Finnigan was still trying to figure it out, but Harry finally exploded and yelled: "When are you going to decide where I should die!"
Winster looked back and said, "It looks like it's time to end the get out of class."
Luo Ou looked over and saw that Professor Trelawney had to announce the end of the get out of class.
Luo Ou returned the used teacup, packed his schoolbag, and walked out of the classroom with Winster.
"It looks like you've learned something," he said.
Winster left for a while and came back breathlessly, "What?" He took a few breaths, as if he had just run around somewhere. "We have Transfiguration next, right?"
Luo Ou glanced at the class schedule he had just taken out: "Ah, yes. After the Divination class, there will be Professor McGonagall's class."
"Did we just talk about the party?"
"Ah? Oh, right." Luo Ou was confused for a moment and remembered the topic they had not finished discussing during class.
"I've thought of an idea. I need to ask Professor McGonagall for help. If it works, we won't have to worry so much about our schedules conflicting." Winster said.
If the original owner really threw the diary to Ginny on purpose, then he probably yelled at Luo and the others because the original owner was in danger at the time and wanted to keep a distance to prevent them from getting hurt... He seemed to value Luo and the others very much.
Winster wanted to leave something for the original owner, but everything about the original owner seemed to be disappearing. No one doubted that Winster was no longer the same person as before. So he decided to form a club with Luo and others to learn magic - he couldn't help Luo and others forever, and it was better to rely on oneself than on others.
I guess this is what the original owner wanted.
"I'll go to Professor Snape and apply for a club."
