Became good friends with the Boy Who Lived
Chapter 168: Christmas in the Ward
In the afternoon, Professor Dumbledore arranged for someone to deliver Aris, Harry and the Weasleys' luggage to Number 12 Grimmauld Place.
Mrs. Weasley was going to lead everyone to visit Mr. Weasley. On the way, Tonks asked Aris with great interest whether he had the blood of the prophet.
"Honestly, Nido, I don't know much about my ancestors," Aeris said, "I grew up in a non-wizard family. The most famous person with the surname Grindelwald is my grandfather..."
"Come on, Tonks!" said Mrs. Weasley, scoldingly. "Can't we talk about something else?"
St. Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries is located in an abandoned department store in London. Diagon Alley is not big enough to build a hospital; Hogsmeade is too remote; if it is built underground like the Ministry of Magic, the sanitary conditions will obviously not be up to standard, so they set up a place in London hidden away in the city.
Just like entering Platform Nine and Three Quarters, they needed to pass through the glass window without attracting attention to enter St. Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries.
There were many more wizards seeking treatment here than Aeris had imagined. In Aeris's imagination, this place would be very depressed and deserted, but the scene before him was just the opposite.
Some had third hands growing out of their chests, some had steam coming out of their ears, some had various animal features... Male and female wizards in green robes walked around among the patients, asking about their conditions and writing and drawing on the writing boards in their hands. These therapists had a large emblem embroidered on the chest of their clothes: a cross made of a wand and bones.
When Aris met Mr. Weasley, the tall, thin, red-haired wizard was in good spirits.
Mr. Weasley thanked Aries and Harry. Harry was a little flattered. Aries took out a few bottles of blood-replenishing potions from his pocket and placed them on the bedside table.
"I brewed this potion myself," Aeris said. "It may be a little bitter, but it is very effective for the symptoms of excessive blood loss."
"Thank you again, Aris!" Mr. Weasley said, picking up a bottle of potion made by Aris from the bedside table and pouring it into his mouth, grinning unhappily, "It's really bitter!"
Mrs. Weasley waved her wand, and several chairs appeared around the bed. Fred dragged the chairs to the side of the bed, sat down, and asked impatiently, "How did you get hurt, Dad?"
"You all know it!" Mr. Weasley nodded to Aries and Harry and said, "I worked all day... I was very tired during my shift... I dozed off... and then I was bitten by a python..."
"Are you guarding that thing, Dad?" George asked. "That weapon..."
"That's enough!" Mrs. Weasley scolded.
"Doesn't the mysterious man have a big snake? Buddy!" Fred asked Aris, "On the night he was resurrected, a big snake followed him all the time..."
"I say, enough!" Mrs. Weasley said angrily, "You all go out first, let Alastor and Tonks come in, you can come back later... Say goodbye... Go!"
The Weasleys all walked out of the ward dejectedly, allowing Mad-Eye Moody and Tonks to enter the ward. Tonks did not forget to close the door tightly.
Fred and George took out the retractable ears and handed something like a thread to Aries and Harry. After hesitating for a moment, Aries took the retractable ears.
Aris was not a person who liked to eavesdrop on other people's secrets, but he also didn't want to appear to be unique. Harry hesitated for a while before taking the retractable ears.
There was no anti-interference spell cast on the ward door, so the Retractable Ears easily sneaked in.
"I can't find the snake. It seems to have disappeared out of thin air..." This was Tonks' voice.
"The You-Know-Who must have let the beast out to scout. If Arthur hadn't been guarding there, it would have definitely found out something..." the voice of Mad-Eye Moody.
"But Dumbledore seemed to have anticipated this..."
"That Potter kid is a little strange..."
"Dumbledore is worried about Harry..."
"If You-Know-Who possesses Potter..."
"do not talk……"
Aris pulled the retractable ear off his ear, put his arm around Harry's shoulders, and looked at the others.
Looking at the horrified expressions of the Weasleys, Aerys whispered, "You won't believe such a ridiculous guess, will you?"
The Weasleys were all a little embarrassed.
On the way back, Harry looked distraught and Mrs. Weasley was very worried.
When they returned to number twelve, Grimmauld Place, Mrs. Weasley said to Harry, "Come back to bed, dear! I thought you'd prefer a little sleep before dinner!"
Harry nodded silently and went upstairs. Aris followed behind Harry and said, "I'm going to sleep for a while too!"
Harry entered not the bedroom he had shared with Ron during the summer holidays, but rather Aris's bedroom and fell into the bed that Draco had slept in.
Aerius sat on his bed, thought for a moment, and said, "Do you think that Voldemort's weapon could be you? Buddy!"
"If...if he can really possess me..." Harry's voice was full of pain.
"Have you ever lost your memory, or had a blank memory, or lost consciousness in one place and regained consciousness in another place?" Aeris asked seriously.
Harry sat up and thought carefully for a while, "No!" Harry said firmly.
"Then you have never been possessed," Aris said lightly, "Voldemort is not omnipotent. I can tell you with certainty, buddy, even if Voldemort wanted to possess you, he couldn't do it. None of his magic can have the desired effect on you..."
Harry smiled and fell back on the bed. Aries said, "Go downstairs and help Mrs. Weasley prepare dinner, buddy! You have to have more confidence in your companions. None of us will abandon you!"
The atmosphere of the dinner was quite good, as if the minor unpleasantness at St. Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries had never happened. Harry walked briskly to help Mrs. Weasley with serving dishes and other chores, and the Weasleys seemed to be relieved.
The next day, accompanied by the screams of old Mrs. Black's portrait, Draco and Hermione also came to the Black mansion to spend the Christmas holidays, and Draco was still cursing.
"What's wrong? Draco!" Aeris asked with a smile, and Draco looked ugly.
"Don't expect me to take the Knight Bus again," Draco said bitterly, "I'd rather walk back to Hogwarts..."
"Don't be so absolute," said Aris. "Maybe we'll have to rely on the Knight Bus when we get back to school!"
"Are you trying to annoy me on purpose, Grindelwald?" Draco said unhappily.
Because there were so many people spending Christmas together, Sirius's joy was contagious to everyone. The Black house was also carefully decorated, and Mundungus Frankie even got a Christmas tree.
On Christmas Day, after lunch, everyone wanted to go and see Mr. Weasley, who was spending the holiday alone at St. Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries.
Mundungus Frankie "borrowed" a car, and a traceless stretching spell was cast on the interior of the car, so more than a dozen people entered the car at the same time, and it did not seem crowded.
Because it was a holiday, there were not many pedestrians and vehicles along the road, and they soon arrived at St. Mungo's Hospital for Magical Aids and Injuries.
There was also a festive atmosphere in the hospital. When we met Mr. Weasley, he was enjoying a turkey set meal. When he saw everyone coming, Mr. Weasley smiled unusually gently.
"Your potion is excellent, Aeris!" said Mr. Weasley, somewhat overly enthusiastically. "The snake venom has been cured, Merlin, it's incredible, the pharmacist here also said he wanted to meet you..."
"Please help me refuse, Mr. Weasley," said Aris, "I am still a student. The brewing of this potion requires special magic, you know..."
"Oh! Of course... of course..." Mr. Weasley suddenly realized, "You can't use magic outside of school yet, if that's possible..."
Aris pulled out a few more bottles of potion from his pocket. Mr. Weasley took them happily, but Mrs. Weasley saw the new bandages under his pajamas.
"Arthur!" Mrs. Weasley screamed, "You changed the bandage early? Wasn't it supposed to be changed tomorrow?"
"This... that... you have to listen to my excuse... dear..." Mr. Weasley quickly covered his chest with the quilt, but facing Mrs. Weasley's sharp eyes, Mr. Weasley still told the truth:
"I wonder if you've ever heard of the way Muggles treat wounds...stitching wounds..."
Mrs. Weasley made a terrible sound between a scream and a roar at her husband:
"You tried to use Muggle methods... to treat magical injuries... without consulting me?"
Bill jumped up and said he was going to have a cup of tea. Fred and George also quickly made an excuse to leave, but before leaving, the twins smiled with a bit of gloating.
Aeris also pulled his companions and tilted his head towards the outside of the ward. After muttering "Let's go have a cup of tea", they also hurried out of the ward. Mr. Weasley looked at the people who fled with resentment in his eyes.
"Oh! My dad who is obsessed with Muggles!" Ginny said helplessly.
"It must have worked!" said Hermione impartially. "Which floor is the tea room on?"
"It looks like the sixth floor!" Harry pointed at the sign.
As they made their way up the stairs, they were chased by a portrait of a healer, who insisted that the freckles on Ron's face were a serious skin disease that needed urgent treatment, which made Aris and Harry have a hard time suppressing their laughter.
When they arrived at the fifth floor, they were stopped by a handsome man who insisted on giving Aries and Harry their autographs. This man was: Gerald Lockhart.
Lockhart was wearing a lavender robe and had a charming smile on his face. "You came to me for my autograph, didn't you?"
Ron said in a low voice with a strange look on his face: "It's still the same as before!"
Ginny giggled.
"Merry Christmas! Gerald!" Aerys greeted Lockhart.
"Do you need a lot of signatures?" Lockhart took out a peacock feather quill and said with a smile, "My cursive handwriting is very beautiful."
"No," said Harry, "we don't need to ..."
A motherly therapist walked over quickly, wearing a beautiful Christmas wreath on her head.
The healer brought Lockhart into the ward like a child, and said to Aeris and Harry in a pleading tone: "If you know him, come in and keep him company for a while, for Christmas..."
"We can't stay too long..." Ron muttered, and several people followed the therapist into the closed ward.
As they entered the ward, they were met by an acquaintance, wearing a green robe, a moth-eaten fox fur, a pointed wizard hat with a stuffed vulture as decoration, and a face that was terribly gloomy. Eris saw Neville, who was unhappy, walking behind this witch.
"Neville?" Ron greeted in surprise.
Neville's body trembled noticeably.
"It's us, Neville!" said Ron happily. "Did you know Lockhart is here? Who are you here to see?"
"Merry Christmas! Old Mrs. Longbottom, Neville!" Aeris greeted politely.
"Is it your friend, my dear grandson?" said old Lady Longbottom kindly, looking at Edwards, Harry and the others one by one.
Neville stared at the shoes on his feet awkwardly, not daring to look at Aeris and Harry.
"Harry Potter!" Old Lady Longbottom shook hands with Harry first, "My dear granddaughter thinks highly of you..."
"Thank you!" said Harry stiffly.
"You... must be Aeris Grindelwald?" Old Lady Longbottom shook hands with Aeris cordially. "My dear grandson thinks highly of you. You have been helping him all the time, right? Please accept the gratitude of an old man like me!"
"You are very kind!" said Aesius. "I only did what a friend should do!"
"Hmm?" Old Madam Longbottom looked at Draco. "The Malfoy boy?"
"Hello!" Draco said awkwardly.
Old Mrs. Longbottom looked at Ron and Ginny again, "The Weasleys?" Old Mrs. Longbottom said, "Arthur and Molly are both noble people!" Old Mrs. Longbottom shook hands with Ron and Ginny gracefully.
Finally, old Lady Longbottom looked at Hermione. "Hermione Granger?" Old Lady Longbottom said, "You also helped Neville a lot!"
Hermione shook hands with old Mrs. Longbottom a little shyly, and seemed a little surprised that she knew her.
"Neville is a good boy, but he doesn't have his father's talent, I have to admit..." Old Mrs. Longbottom raised her chin towards the innermost position.
"What..." Ron was about to say something, but was interrupted by Aeris.
"Excuse me, old Lady Longbottom," said Aeris, "the Memory Charm cannot be easily cast on a baby. Whatever your reasons, Neville's talent has simply not been stimulated yet."
"You really should be more gentle with your words, Grindelwald!" said old Lady Longbottom, but there was not much blame in her tone.
At this time, a thin, haggard, sickly woman slowly walked over and stuffed something into Neville's hand. It seemed to be a beautiful wrapping paper. Then the woman walked back leisurely, and old Mrs. Longbottom sighed.
"Neville...that's your mother?" Ron asked in disbelief.
"What?" Old Lady Longbottom looked at Neville sternly. "You hid the facts about your parents from your friends? My son and daughter-in-law sacrificed their health and sanity to fight against evil, but brought shame to their only son?"
"Neville is certainly proud of his parents," said Aeris. "I'm proud of my friends for having such relatives!"
Neville looked at Aeris gratefully and said calmly, "My dad and mom have always been my pride, grandma!"
Ron craned his neck to get a better look at the hospital bed on Neville's parents' side, but was glared at by Hermione.
"You are behaving in a very strange way, my dear grandson!" said old Madam Longbottom. "My son and daughter-in-law were tortured to insanity by the Death Eaters. They never gave in until the very last moment. They will always be the pride of the Longbottom family!"
Hermione and Ginny both covered their mouths. Old Madam Longbottom straightened her back with unusual pride and continued, "They once made outstanding contributions to the wizarding world in expelling the dark forces. They were once as respected as shining stars! Hey... It's nice to meet you. I'm going back... My dear grandchildren!"
"See you at school, Neville!" said Aeris.
"Goodbye!" Neville said, carefully putting the wrapping paper his mother gave him into his pocket, and then left with his grandmother.
"I...I don't know..." Hermione's eyes were filled with tears.
"I don't know!" Ginny agreed.
"Me too..." Ron's voice cracked.
Everyone looked at Aeris, Harry, and Draco.
Draco turned his head away awkwardly. Just as Harry was about to say something, Aeris interrupted him.
"If Neville doesn't want others to know, we shouldn't discuss these...his private matters behind his back..." said Aeris.
But at this moment, Lockhart's exasperated voice came: "Do you still want to sign? I didn't practice my cursive writing in vain..."
