HP: I just wanted to drop out of school, but I saved the world
Chapter 84 Something happened suddenly
"Albus, you've got me so hard to find."
Cornelius Fudge's short body was slightly bent, his pin-striped suit was disheveled, he was breathing rapidly, and his face was very anxious.
"Even the owls couldn't find you, and all the letters were returned—"
He grumbled as he walked over to sit next to Dumbledore.
"I wasn't at school—what happened, Connelly?"
Dumbledore frowned, a sense of foreboding rising.
His intuition told him that his plans were going to be disrupted again.
"Gilderoy Lockhart's trial will be brought forward to tomorrow. I am here to notify you to attend."
Hearing this, Jian Yu couldn't help but be surprised.
This former Defense Against the Dark Arts professor and liar is actually going to be sent to Azkaban?
All she knew was that after waking up from the hospital wing last semester, she hadn't heard from Lockhart since, and even the Defense Against the Dark Arts class had been suspended.
Several months have passed, how did this liar become like this?
She couldn't help but shook her head.
"Why was the trial suddenly brought forward?" Dumbledore asked in confusion, "Did something happen?"
Fudge rubbed his hands and gave an awkward smile:
"As you know, it's peacetime now, and the Daily Prophet hasn't had anything to promote for a long time - and I won't be able to inspect Azkaban until next month. I have to make some achievements this month so that they can have something to report."
It turns out that Lockhart was the one who achieved the best performance.
But it makes sense. Being able to judge such a "star" in the wizarding world will undoubtedly bring Fudge a lot of attention.
If this were put on modern big-eye software, the word "explosive" would stay on the hot search for at least several days.
"I have to say, Cornelius, you interrupted my plans." Dumbledore's face turned not so good. "I was originally going to take the children to France, but now I can only write a letter to apologize for my breach of trust."
Fudge took off his round hat, scratched his gray curly hair, and said in distress:
"To be honest, you know I have no other choice." He turned to look at Jian Yu, as if he had just seen her. "I handled her formalities myself. You see, this favor..."
Dumbledore sighed and said that he would be there on time.
Fudge breathed a sigh of relief, put on his little round hat again, and hurriedly disappeared at the door.
"What happened to Lockhart?" Jian Yu asked curiously.
"It has to do with what happened last term," Dumbledore answered her. "As you know, Voldemort used his wand to cast a Killing Curse in the Chamber of Secrets, and the Ministry of Magic came to search his office - while he was unconscious."
"Although it was confirmed that the spell was not cast by him, they found a small booklet in his office that recorded his illegal use of the Memory Charm to steal other people's memories to write books."
Jane Yu immediately remembered the notebook she found in Lockhart's overturned drawer, and then she remembered that Lockhart wanted to erase her memory in the corridor.
A feeling of anger rose up in my heart, and I even wanted to go back and cast a few more stunning spells on him.
"He was trying to cast a Memory Charm on me, too," she said angrily, "because I discovered his secret."
Dumbledore was stunned. He murmured in an inaudible voice:
"Oh...I see...I see...So that's it...So, Voldemort took control of you after he met Harry..."
After a while, he said sadly and guiltily:
"This spell will have different effects depending on the user's magical control. Strong spells can damage a person's brain. Some people may even need to receive memory recovery treatment at St. Mungo's for the rest of their lives."
"Lockhart abused the powerful forgetfulness spell. His spell made those wizards forget many things. Some forgot their parents and children, and some forgot their identities... This caused permanent damage to their memories, brains, and families."
"Thank goodness you protected yourself... Sometimes I wish you could ask the professors for more help..."
Feeling guilty, Dumbledore ordered another ice cream for her in the store, which would be delivered in half an hour, and told her to stay in the Leaky Cauldron at night and do her summer homework.
But what Jane Yu didn't expect was that the next morning, just as she picked up the pen and wrote the first word on the parchment, Dumbledore appeared in front of her again.
He looked calm and serious, wearing a formal black and blue robe, and he had obviously just returned from the Ministry of Magic:
"I need to take you to the Ministry of Magic, Jade." He pulled her up, "as a witness."
The two came to a shabby red telephone booth. Dumbledore picked up the crooked receiver and began to dial:
"Although I usually Apparate here, since this is your first time here, you should take the normal route."
He dialed the number on the dial pad, and a cold female voice came from the phone booth:
"Welcome to the Ministry of Magic, please state your name and your business."
Dumbledore said into the mouthpiece:
"Albus Dumbledore, bring Jade Jane to the First Courtroom as a witness."
When she heard Dumbledore's name, the coldness in the woman's voice disappeared:
"I'll make you a badge, please pin it on the front of your clothes. I hope you have a good day."
Jian Yu picked up the silver badge from the metal chute where the coins were returned and pinned it on her chest. It read: Jade Jian, Witness.
The telephone booth began to tremble, and the two sank into the ground and came to a hall.
Jian Yu looked up at the magnificent hall. The floor was a dark wooden floor that was polished to a shine, the peacock blue ceiling was inlaid with constantly changing golden symbols, and the surrounding walls were embedded with gilded fireplaces for people to pass through. In the middle of the foyer was a fountain with a statue.
Dumbledore led her through the hall, past the security desk, and into an elevator with a group of wizards.
They greeted Dumbledore, huddled together to make some space for the two of them, and looked at Jian Yu curiously.
The two of them walked out of the staircase on the ninth floor underground. There was a simple corridor with a plain black door at the end.
Dumbledore suddenly stopped in front of the black door and introduced her:
"This floor is the Department of Mysteries... It studies several phenomena in the world that are still unknown to humans."
"The silent people who work here study prophecy through the prophecy ball, study time through the time converter, study thinking through the brain, study death through the veil... There is also a room for studying love."
He stared at the black door for a while, then took Jian Yu and walked towards the downward stairs on the left.
But before they could get to the bottom floor, they ran into Fudge, who was sweating profusely.
