HP: I just wanted to drop out of school, but I saved the world
Chapter 77 Aberforth (1)
Hog's Head Bar.
When Jian Yu stepped in here, he found that it was not exactly the same as the "extreme filth" mentioned by Dumbledore.
Although it was small and dark, with little light from outside, some places had been cleaned before they arrived. An old man, with his butt sticking out and his back facing them, was struggling to direct a rag to wipe the bottle of butter beer.
Dumbledore was obviously surprised as well, and he spoke first:
"Oh - cleaning... You're closed today?"
Jian Yu heard the old man with his back to them sneer, and the air was immediately filled with gunpowder:
"Open for business? You think I'd let a 13-year-old kid see those filthy customers who can't even show their faces?"
He turned around and she saw that he looked very much like Dumbledore, with thick grey hair and a beard that shone like tinsel, and piercing blue eyes behind dirty glasses.
He didn't look at Jian Yu, still glaring at his brother, and put the bottle heavily on the bar:
"Why? You're old? You start to want family affection?"
"But you didn't even dare to tell your own brother that you had adopted a child—"
His eyes swept over Jian Yu, but suddenly his expression changed drastically. He threw away the rag in his hand, walked up to her, and put his hands on her shoulders:
"The Silent One?"
Dumbledore interrupted him: "No, she is not, she just looks like one."
Aberforth became more and more irritable, and scratched his hair twice with one hand:
"Are you sure she just looks like that? Her condition... her expression clearly..."
Dumbledore didn't know whether to laugh or cry, and twirled his beard again:
"She can use magic normally and has received proper guidance at Hogwarts."
"Well, well," Aberforth muttered, and strode back to the bar, where three glasses of butterbeer appeared with a clanking sound. Dumbledore looked at him disapprovingly.
"Don't look at me like that, Albus," he said irritably. "You're 13, what's wrong with a little beer? It's not strong enough."
In fact, he was trying hard not to put the glass on his brother's head because of his brother's ridiculous behavior.
Fortunately, his reason told him that there was a child here, so he forced his most amiable smile, found a plate of small cakes from the cupboard, and pushed it in front of Jian Yu.
Then there was a long chat about family matters, from Jian Yu's academic performance to interpersonal relationships, and what she ate at school. Aberforth even took her to see the goats he raised...
Dumbledore tried to interrupt their conversation several times, but was rudely blocked by Aberforth.
Jian Yu discovered that although his language was a little rude, he was very thoughtful and all his conversations were full of care - to be honest, she felt that compared to Dumbledore, his brother seemed to be better at getting along with young people and more like a parent who had raised children.
Aberforth arranged a room for her on the second floor.
......
After Jian Yu went upstairs, the two brothers immediately broke into a fierce quarrel.
Aberforth attacks crazily, while Albus defends passively.
"I understand why you suddenly adopted a child without her prior consent. Who are you missing?" He roared, and the glass finally fell on his brother's head. "Ariana? Credence?"
"I'm not missing anyone." Dumbledore retorted in a deep voice. He grabbed the cup in his hand and threw it heavily on the bar after being drenched in butterbeer. "They are different people. I know that very well."
Aberforth became even angrier, and he began to roar: "Really? No one is missed? Then it's for your ridiculous righteousness? Pulling everyone into your grand plan?"
"She doesn't owe you anything!" He looked like he wanted to put another glass on top of it. "What kind of person do you want to raise her to be? Who do you plan to let her fight against? A child?"
Dumbledore was silent for a while, then he said:
"Why can't it be that I want to make amends?—Fox!"
The golden and red phoenix cried as it squeezed in through the window. It circled above his head once and then rushed straight to the second floor without a trace of reluctance, as if it had no idea that Dumbledore was its master at all.
Aberforth was stunned.
"I guess she doesn't have any blood from our family...?"
"No," Dumbledore said firmly, "but it always helped her..."
He carefully recounted what happened in the secret room in the second grade, and briefly talked about the orphanage where Jian Yu had stayed, and the earth-shaking things he had done in the first grade...
Aberforth calmed down, pulled out a broken chair and sat down.
"I see," he murmured, "you are looking for many people in her...your own, theirs..."
He seemed to think of something disgusting, and frowned in disgust: "Damn, I hope that person isn't in there-"
This peaceful conversation only lasted a few minutes. Thinking of this, Aberforth soon became furious again:
"Goddess complex? You want to teach her? She's a Slytherin... I guess you have to interfere with her friendships, don't you?"
He was immediately refuted by his brother:
"As a guardian, I have to choose the right friends for her and make sure she stays on the right path."
Aberforth stood up and stared at him in disbelief:
"You're crazy! Even though I don't like a lot of people in Slytherin, she is one! She has the right to decide who her friends are!"
"Think of yourself when you were younger! Your desire for friends! Doge... damn Grindelwald..."
But Dumbledore was silent, with his head bowed. Aberforth could not see what his brother was thinking, but he heard him say softly:
"Yeah, so I paid the price... I don't want her to do the same... She's different, and there's still a chance to change."
Aberforth looked at his stubborn brother and felt it was absurd, as if history was repeating itself with a different protagonist.
“You are forcing a flying bird to swim in the river and a swimming fish to walk on the shore.”
"You will pay the price for your extreme control again, Albus." He concluded, "I don't believe you can teach a child well, and I know you have no way to deal with this kind of person."
......
A few hours later.
Dumbledore realized that he seemed to have really paid the price.
Because Jian Yu is missing.
The bedroom on the second floor was already empty, with only a suitcase on the floor.
Jian Yu's people, her eagle owl, and the rat snake were all gone. Only Fox was fluttering around in the house.
Dumbledore's face changed drastically.
All sorts of possibilities had already flashed through my mind.
runaway?
Hijacked by dark forces?
Ran off with some Slytherin students?
Is it the Greengrass? Or the Notts? Or the Malfoys?
Or is it the senior class?
There were so many suspects that he felt like he was suffocating in his chest and was so angry that his stomach ached.
"What's going on?" Aberforth's voice sounded behind him, "Where are the people?"
Now the two brothers started to panic.
