HP: White Lord of Slytherin

Chapter 64 Double Attack Incident

Hermione quickly searched for books about basilisks in the library, and soon found a snake with the ability to petrify in a book called "Fantastic Creatures Explained".

She tried hard to suppress her scream. It must be the sound of the basilisk that Harry heard!

Looking at the annotation again, if one sees the eyes of this basilisk in the mirror image, one will not die immediately but will be petrified.

A girl died fifty years ago. How did the basilisk kill her? Hermione kept thinking about how to make a giant basilisk wander around the school without being discovered...

Suddenly, her eyes lit up. A water pipe! Then she quickly wrote it down with her feather pen.

"What are you looking at?"

The sudden question startled Hermione. She let out a low cry and turned around to find it was Ginny. She breathed a sigh of relief, "It's you, Ginny." She patted her chest.

Ginny tilted her head to read the contents of her book, "Harry and Ron said you were in the library. I wasn't feeling well today and didn't want to watch Quidditch, so I came here for a walk."

Hermione also noticed that she looked pale and was a little worried, "I'll take you to the hospital wing first."

Ginny shook her head and pointed at the book, "Which page are you looking at?"

Hermione completely forgot what Gloria had reminded her of. She was filled with joy at having found information about the Monster of the Chamber of Secrets. "It's about the Monster of the Chamber of Secrets. Now that we have the information about the monster, we'll tell Headmaster Dumbledore about it when we find Harry and the others. I believe the petrification issue will end soon!"

"Is that so... That's great." Ginny's voice was a little vague, and she lowered her head as if reading the book in her hand.

"I can't give you this book now. Wait until I ask Madam Pince to lend it out." Hermione stood up and was about to go find Madam Pince, who might be sorting books somewhere.

Ginny nodded and left in silence. When she reached the door, she took out the diary hidden in her school robe and walked out expressionlessly.

Hermione looked around anxiously but didn't see Madam Pince. Could she have gone to the Quidditch field as well?

The competition was about to start, so she had to borrow the book as soon as possible and tell Harry and Ron the truth about the Monster of the Chamber of Secrets.

The anxious Gryffindor simply tore off the page about the basilisk and silently apologized to Madam Pince in his heart.

Just a few steps out of the library, I heard a strange sound coming from above, like something huge passing by, a dull thumping sound.

Hermione got goosebumps all over her body, remembering that before Harry returned to the common room, he said he heard that voice again.

This means...the basilisk is roaming around in the school!

She immediately hid at the door of the bathroom not far from the library, took out a small mirror from her pocket, and carefully looked outside.

However, at this moment, a person came out from a compartment.

"Ah——" Hermione screamed in fear. She was already in a state of fear, and was startled by the sound of the compartment door opening.

The girl who opened the door was also frightened by her and screamed as well.

A senior girl in Ravenclaw uniform and long curly hair came out of the cubicle. She was staring at her in horror. "What are you doing?!"

Hermione raised her index finger and pressed it to her lips, hushing, "It's dangerous outside, stay here for now."

The Ravenclaw girl ignored her, shook her head and went to wash her hands.

Hermione was afraid that speaking louder would attract the basilisk, so she could only lean against the wall at the door and look at the scene in the small mirror. The next moment, she saw a familiar figure, which was Ginny holding a diary.

Just as she was about to call people in to hide together, a giant snake with emerald green scales appeared behind Ginny, its yellow eyes clearly reflected in the mirror. Hermione was so frightened that she opened her mouth to scream, but was instantly petrified.

The Ravenclaw girl washed her hands and looked up. She also saw the huge animal eyes in the mirror and was petrified.

Ginny walked to Hermione with lifeless eyes, touched her body, and made sure that the book was not there before turning and leaving, completely unaware that the torn page was folded in her palm.

On the Quidditch pitch, Gloria and Draco sat together, it was almost eleven o'clock.

"I really want to see Potter get hit off his broom by a Bludger again!" Draco said maliciously.

Gloria was helpless about this. "Have you forgotten that time you were also hit by the Bludger?"

The boy was quite angry, "It was Potter who caused me trouble. The Bludger was only attacking him."

She smiled without saying anything, her eyes falling on the entrance and exit of the Gryffindor team, waiting for the group of figures in red uniforms to appear.

Soon Harry and his friends appeared, and the whole audience cheered enthusiastically, all looking forward to an exciting game today.

However, just as the players flew into the sky to warm up, Professor McGonagall's voice suddenly spread throughout the stadium, "The game is cancelled--"

The students in the viewing area were talking a lot, booing and shouting in dissatisfaction.

Draco was among them, "Why cancel it? I still want to see Potter fall off his broom!"

This drew the disgruntled glances of the Hufflepuffs next door, but they also protested against the cancellation of the game.

Captain Wood of the Gryffindor team quickly flew back to the ground and said something to Professor McGonagall, but the professor ignored him and continued into the microphone: "All students return to the common room. Do not stay on the stadium. The dean of the college will tell you the reason for the cancellation. Go back now!"

Then she put down the microphone and waved for Harry to follow.

Gloria had a bad feeling. The competition had never been cancelled despite the bad weather before, but today it was cancelled right at the beginning.

Suddenly a thought popped into my mind: the petrification incident must have happened again!

"Go! Draco." She grabbed the boy's arm.

"What's wrong Lori, protest for a while longer."

Gloria walked quickly, turned her head and said to him, "Something must have happened. We have to go to the lounge and wait for the dean's notice."

After saying this, Draco stopped complaining, "We can't have students being petrified at this time."

Gloria said, "I think so, go!"

It took a while after returning to the common room before other students came back one after another.

It was rare for Professor Snape to come to the dormitory as the dean. It was the first time Gloria saw him here. The professor stood there with a dark face and a roll of parchment in his hand.

When most people had returned, Professor Snape said in a deep voice, "Another attack occurred at the school. This time two people were petrified. Hermione Granger, a second-year student at Gryffindor, and Penelope Clearwater, a sixth-year student at Ravenclaw."

A buzzing sound suddenly occurred in the lounge, and everyone was whispering in amazement. This time, two people were attacked.

Gloria squeezed Draco's hand, never expecting Hermione to be petrified.

Feeling her nervousness, the boy rubbed her hands, trying to ease her tension.

"Quiet--" Professor Snape's dark eyes swept over them, and all the students immediately fell silent.

He unfolded the parchment and began to read the contents, "All students must return to their college's common room before six o'clock... Astronomy classes are also temporarily cancelled."

After reading, he rolled up the parchment, looked at all the students and said, "Hogwarts has entered an emergency situation. The school may be closed at any time. Before the final decision is made, each of you must strictly abide by the new rules. Our school is the only one among the four schools that has not had any students attacked. I hope this situation will remain until the incident is over."

Professor Snape didn't say a word. He turned and left. The wind caused by his footsteps made the end of his robes billow, and he quickly disappeared into the common room.

After making sure that the professor had disappeared, the Slytherin students began to discuss.
