Operation Red Book

Chapter 129: Lies Exposed in the Prayer Room 2

"So you think I'm a pagan who wants to hurt you?" Ivy asked softly.

Grace nodded slightly, and Ivy almost fell over in anger.

She didn't know what to say, nor where to start, so she could only ask in a frustrated tone:

"Who is Maurice to you? Don't you think he is a liar? Why don't you disobey his orders a little and see where those children are sent?"

"Mr. Morris saved me and brought me to Florence."

"Because of him, I have the opportunity to spend time with my dear children. I am very grateful to him. He would not lie to me. He is a devout believer. He is my Heavenly Father!"

Grace spoke firmly, like a goat looking at the sky from the top of a snowy mountain.

Even though there was a cliff thousands of feet high in front of her, she still moved forward firmly, with only the outline of God made up of clouds in her eyes.

Ivy deeply felt the power of faith, and also felt sad and heartbroken for those who lost themselves to faith.

"Ms. Grace, we really like you."

Haley came out from behind Ivy and sobbed as she confessed to Grace.

"I must tell you, we don't like Mr. Morris."

"We can feel Miss Grace's love and cherishment for us, but I have to say how I feel about Mr. Morris. He looks at us with only hatred and contempt."

"You're just a child, Haley. This is the adult world..." Grace coaxed softly.

"Please listen to me carefully, Miss Grace!"

"When you spoke to us, you always bent down and spoke softly, while Mr. Morris always looked up to the sky, put his hands behind his back, and ignored everything we said."

"Although we are young, I am the best at judging who is the one who truly treats me well."

Haley spoke in a powerful voice, with a determined light in her eyes as she looked at Grace.

"Please believe me, Miss Grace! I don't want you to fall into Mr. Morris's trap again, please believe me!"

"Mr. Morris is the real heretic!"

Haley almost shouted this.

Grace fell backwards as if she had been hit hard.

She opened her eyes wide, and some images seemed to flash through her mind:

She knelt above the clouds with her wings spread, tears falling down.

A strong wind blew, her wings were broken, and she fell from the clouds.

Then there is the familiar street, and in front is the Florence Welfare Home.

There were thunder and lightning, heavy rain came, and she lay on the ground, without any strength left.

A stern-faced nun appeared before her, and beside her stood a fat little man, looking down at her...

"Grace! Grace!"

Ivy and Haley gently patted Grace's face, pulling her back to reality from the fragments of her memories.

"I don't know anymore. I seem to know nothing." Grace said weakly.

"You know what you need? You need to come with us to find Morris and make him explain everything."

Ivy said calmly, and she and Haley pulled Grace up.

Grace nodded weakly and began to examine the empty prayer room.

All the children were sent here. There must be a mechanism leading to the dark room, hidden somewhere unknown.

Ivy thought of the secret passage switches in suspense dramas. She looked at the large and small decorations on the altar and took them all without thinking.

Unfortunately, she picked up each one easily, and there was still no change or sound in the prayer room.

Ivy looked around, at a loss as to what to do, when she suddenly set her eyes on the statue under the cross.

She put the pistol aside and used her strength to climb onto the altar.

She pressed the statue hard and bent its hands and feet, but unfortunately there was no movement.

Just as she was about to climb down, the hollow cross above unexpectedly caught her attention.

Ivy placed her hand on one end of the cross and with a little effort, the cross began to rotate easily.

Seeing hope, Ivy pushed harder and the cross spun faster.

As the red cross rotated, more lines stretched out from it.

The pattern on the wall gradually twisted and deformed, and after a creaking sound, an upside-down pentagram suddenly appeared on the wall.

"Click——"

The wall on the right side of the prayer room suddenly sank in, and a dark passage appeared in front of the three people.

Grace looked up at the pentagram pattern on the white wall with a disappointed look, and her uneasiness increased even more.

She bit her lower lip and stood up with Haley.

Ivy exchanged glances with the two people behind her, then stood there and took a deep breath.

She picked up the pistol beside her, took the glass oil lamp handed to her by Grace, and led the way into the dark passage.
