Operation Red Book

Ivy stopped what she was doing, and the three or five children around her stopped what they were doing and looked at her. No one touched the steak in front of Henry.

Ivy swallowed a mouthful of cereal and said solemnly: "Can you tell me the details?"

The children breathed a sigh of relief and continued to put food into their mouths.

Henry should be the leader of these children. He pursed his lips and told them everything that happened:

"About two months ago, a girl named Nancy was adopted. I had a good relationship with her. The day before she passed away, Nancy and I agreed to meet at the bakery every Saturday."

"Every Saturday after that, I would go to the bakery and wait for her, but she never showed up again."

"Well... could it be because of some other reasons, such as the long journey and family not allowing you to go out?" Ivy interrupted and picked up the cheese bread beside her.

"I thought so before, so I told Luke about it."

Henry pointed at the blue-eyed fat boy sitting opposite him, and the fat boy continued what he was saying.

"My friend and I also made an agreement. He told me that he would bring me cheese after he was adopted. But it has been several months and he still hasn't come."

Ivy took a bite of bread and her eyes rolled around.

If it were in the 21st century, Ivy could only think of the superficial reasons. Maybe it was because of restrictions from family members, or maybe it was because the child had a short memory...

But this is the world of gods and demons in the 19th century, so Ivy has to think about crime and the supernatural.

But there are too few clues now, so she dare not jump to conclusion for the time being.

"Then what about what you just said about seeing them being killed with your own eyes?" Ivy put down the bread in her hand and asked the children in front of her.

Henry distributed the food brought by Ivy, pointed at the red-haired girl opposite Ivy, and said:

"One night Emily saw the child who had been adopted the day before, just outside the window, looking at her in a large glass bottle."

"She was very scared and told us about it the next day."

"We think the adopted child is still in the Florence Orphanage, so we went to take a look yesterday." The little girl with long braids sitting next to Ivy said to Ivy.

"The sister who was adopted yesterday had a knife stuck in her heart and was placed in a coffin in the prayer room."

"Luke was very brave. He went up and touched her. He said... he said that the corners of the sister's mouth and eyes were bleeding."

"Stop it, Henry."

The little fat boy lowered his head, tears streaming down his face, and stuffed food into his mouth.

The two girls kept stirring the food in their plates with their iron forks in silence.

Henry's face was livid. He stuffed pickles and oatmeal into his mouth, mumbling as he ate:

"We can't be discovered by Maggie and Grace. We have to eat normally, otherwise it will attract their attention. We... Ugh—"

Henry and the little fat boy stuffed their mouths too full and suddenly spat out all the food.

All of a sudden, all the children around scattered. Henry and the little fat boy squatted on the ground and continued to vomit, their bodies shaking.

Everyone's attention was drawn to the two of them, especially Grace and Ms. Maggie.

Grace trotted over worriedly, while Ms. Maggie continued to drink from the glass bottle with a stern face and borrowed a cigarette from Holmes.
