Harry Potter: Miss Malfoy

Chapter 10: The Sorting Hat

"First years! First years over here! All right, Harry?"

As soon as I stepped onto the Hogwarts platform, I heard the half-giant's rough shout.

A shout of "Harry" caused another commotion on the platform.

"Harry? Could it be Harry Potter?"

"He already knows Hagrid?"

"Wow! Can you see him?"

I heard he had a conflict with Miss Malfoy?"

"Malfoy? That Malfoy family?"

"You just know it now? I heard that there are many daughters of the twenty-eight surnames this year."

"Wow, this sounds like a disgusting class..."

The platform was bustling with people, and Hagrid had to keep shouting, trying to maintain order.

"So it's true, the gatekeeper of Hogwarts is a giant!" Pansy got out of the car and excitedly pulled Draco.

Daphne just stood there quietly frowning, looking at the tall figure timidly.

"He's the gamekeeper. The castle door is protected by magic." Draco explained.

He took Daphne's hand slightly, then spoke slowly again. "His name is Hagrid."

After hearing this, Pansy and Daphne both looked surprised.

"Do you know him?" Daphne asked hesitantly.

Draco hesitated slightly, thinking of his first encounter with Harry at Madam Malkin's, and remembering how both of their meetings had ended unpleasantly.

"I don't know him. It was my father who reminded me to be careful of his rudeness."

Then, he added angrily.

"Only a rude fellow would want to know such a man."

Daphne nodded, but Pansy rolled her lively eyes and looked at Draco, seeming to want to say something but stopping herself.

The students had begun to walk out of the station and down the hill following Hagrid.

"You'll see Hogwarts just around the corner!" Hagrid said loudly.

The first-year students chattered excitedly.

Pansy Daphne and Draco looked at each other, and the corners of their mouths couldn't help but rise.

What comes into view is the mirror-black lake surface that reflects the starry night.

The waves are gentle, the water reflects one's heart, and the soft sound of the wooden boats hitting each other is brought by the evening breeze.

The wooden boat was dotted with tiny dots of starlight, and sporadic torches flickered.

Looking out over the lake, on top of the towering rock,

It is a huge castle with groups of guard towers, and the stone windows are lit by warm candles, as if welcoming the students back to the city.

“Only four people can fit in one boat!”

Hagrid reminded loudly again, and Draco, Daphne, and Pansy stepped lightly onto a small boat.

Draco shook his head slightly and looked at the boat not far away.

Harry was looking at him from behind his round-framed glasses.

I found that the Weasley child was still with Harry.

He couldn't help but frown at Harry and turned his head away.

But I still noticed that the people on the same boat with Harry,

There was also a girl with brown curly hair and a round-faced, dull boy.

-

After crossing the lake and stepping off the boat, the old students and the new students embarked on different paths.

The old students filed into the carriage, and were not surprised to see that there was no horse in front of the carriage to pull it.

However, many freshmen expressed their opinions on the strangeness of the carriage.

It was not until Hagrid called out again that the freshmen, led by him, walked across the grass filled with the scent of late summer.

Before I could even step onto the stone steps, I saw the door of the auditorium open with a bang.

A tall witch in an emerald robe walked towards them and gave the freshman a serious look.

"This is a first year, Professor McGonagall."

"Thank you, Hagrid. Leave them to me from here on."

Professor McGonagall said, turning around without saying a word and leading the freshmen into the hall.

The moment the door opens, what comes into view is a hall paved with off-white stone.

The high-hanging brass chandelier was filled with candlelight, but there was no chain to be seen. It was just floating in the air at the bottom of the eaves where the dome was not visible.

In the center of the hall is a stone staircase with ancient and magnificent carvings.

On the handrails that were higher than Professor McGonagall's shoulders, there were stone sculptures of strange beasts every seven steps.

With a magic ball of light in his mouth, as the figure passed by,

The light sources slowly flowed between the four colors of golden red, copper blue, black yellow, and silver green.

The spaciousness and magnificence of the hall made many freshmen stand there in amazement the moment the door opened.

Daphne slowed down hesitantly and exchanged a glance with Draco and Pansy.

I don't quite understand why the students I was traveling with stopped moving forward.

Draco looked around until he saw Harry's surprised expression.

I guessed for a moment that the freshmen were obviously stopping to take in the view of the castle.

The rich family's daughter suddenly felt somewhat complacent.

The famous Harry Potter has obviously seen more scenes than himself.

(Are you scared of that, Potter?)

The silent lip movements concealed the inner thoughts, a smile appeared on the corners of her mouth, and she stepped forward gracefully.

Daphne and Pansy followed quietly, along with a girl with twin ponytails.

"Hey! I want to go too!"

"Han...Hannah!"

A girl's nervous shout was heard from the crowd, and Hannah responded with full energy.

"It doesn't matter, I'm also a 28th surname!"

When the girl said this, the three people who had reached the middle step of the stairs turned back at the same time and looked at Hannah's cheerful smile as she stepped onto the stone steps.

"Malfoy, Greengrass, Parkinson. You are very famous!"

"Nice to meet you, I'm Hannah Abbott."

"Nice to meet you. Draco Malfoy."

Draco walked down two steps with a smile, lifted the hem of his robe with both hands, and squatted slightly.

Hannah smiled back, and followed Professor McGonagall with Draco, Pansy and Daphne.

Professor McGonagall turned around and looked at the freshmen who were lagging behind the four and shook her head. "Freshmen, keep up."

The strict tone made the freshmen who remained at the bottom of the stairs tremble, and they strode forward nervously.

When the new students had finally found their feet, Professor McGonagall cleared her throat.

With a flick of the wand, the ring with the Hogwarts emblem on its finger turned into a roll of parchment.

The freshmen naturally exclaimed “Wow!” again.

"Welcome to Hogwarts."

"The opening banquet is about to begin. As you can see, the old students are already seated inside."

"Before you enter the restaurant and take your seats, you must first pass through the divisions before you can enter your respective colleges."

Listening to Professor McGonagall's words, Draco's bright eyes sparkled and he tiptoed in excitement.

"Yes, Miss Malfoy. The Sorting Ceremony is indeed something to look forward to."

"But this is also a very important ceremony, so please pay attention and listen to my next explanation."

Professor McGonagall continued speaking, looking towards the four girls in the lead.

Draco, who was named in public, had a blush on his snow-white face and seemed a little embarrassed.

"During your time at school, your respective college will be like your home at Hogwarts. You will attend classes and eat together with students from the same college."

“I will sleep in the college dormitory and spend my leisure time in the communal hall.”

Professor McGonagall, however, was completely oblivious to Draco's expression. She turned to the freshmen and announced loudly.

"The four houses are Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin."

"Each college has its own glorious history and has produced outstanding wizards and witches. "

"During your studies, every outstanding performance you make will add points to the college."

Correspondingly, every violation will result in the school losing points.”

"At the end of the school year, the college with the highest points will receive the honor of the College Cup."

"I hope that each of you will want to bring honor to whatever house you are assigned to."

After Professor McGonagall finished speaking, she glanced at the freshmen, paused for a moment, and then slowly spoke again.

"The sorting ceremony will be held in front of all the teachers and students in the school."

"I suggest that you use the last time you have to tidy yourself up as much as possible."

"Those who don't know how to pin their capes, tie their bow ties and hood knots—"

Professor McGonagall said this while looking at the round-faced boy among the freshmen who was in the same ship with Harry.

"You have before you four models of proper grooming. Observe them carefully."

"You will find that learning from your classmates is the key to doing well at Hogwarts."

As she spoke, the freshmen's eyes all turned to Draco, Pansy, Daphne, and Hannah.

Draco was pleased to find that Harry was also looking at him, checking his appearance back and forth.

She even tried in vain to smooth down the slightly messy black curly hair on his head.

"Then please stay here for a while until we are ready to welcome you."

As soon as Professor McGonagall finished speaking, she glanced at the paper in her hand and walked into the restaurant door.
