Chapter 407 Dumbledore's Secret
Cedric was not surprised that someone else would come, and he naturally stood up and opened the door for the visitor.
A gray-haired wizard stood outside the door, wearing a worm-eaten Turkish hat on his head, which made him look like a free dandelion.
Harry thought he looked familiar, and after a long effort he realized that he was Ephias Doge, a member of the Order of the Phoenix and the author of Dumbledore's obituary.
"What was Dumbledore's last order?" Cedric said to the visitor while standing at the door.
"Harry is our most precious hope, believe in him." Doggie said calmly.
Cedric nodded to Avro and Wood, and Doggie was invited to the living room.
"Hello, Mr. Doggie," Harry said, leaning forward and extending his hand.
At this time, the Polyjuice Potion in Harry's body had expired, revealing his original face.
"My dear child." Doggie took a breath and shook his hand tremblingly: "Arthur asked me to tell you that they are safe and have all been transferred."
Doggie looked nervous and happy, and in his panic he knocked over the teacup that Wood handed him.
"I've wanted to write to you for a long time, after Dumbledore died..." Doggie's eyes were filled with tears, and he choked.
"No one knows him better than me, if Aberforth is not counted... although no one really counts him..." Doggie took out a handkerchief and wiped his eyes.
Hermione frowned when she heard a name similar to Dumbledore: "Aberforth? He is..."
"He is Dumbledore's brother." Doggie's face suddenly darkened, as if he realized that he had said the wrong thing: "This has nothing to do with the reason why I came here today."
"But I've never heard that Dumbledore had a younger brother." Wood scratched his hair, his strong muscles making his sweater and shirt look very full.
Doggie laughed twice: "Of course you haven't heard of it. Only us old people know that Albus never mentions his brother and sister. Ever since Ariana..."
He suddenly realized that he had said too much again. He was stunned for two seconds and picked up the teacup to hide his embarrassment.
Looking at Doggie, who was as good as the big-mouthed Hagrid, Afro finally understood why Dumbledore arranged such a person to wake up Harry to find the Elder Wand.
This guy also grew up taking truth serum.
"Ariana?" Hermione heard the second unfamiliar name and realized that Doggie's arrival must be to convey some news from Dumbledore.
"Merlin's briefs!" Doggie looked like he was about to cry. He looked in pain. "Ariana is Albus's sister, but she is in poor health and has to be locked up at home—"
Seeing Harry's shocked expression, he immediately changed his words: "She's not locked up, it's just that Ariana can't go out for a long time. Everyone says his sister is a Squib, but Albus insists that it's because of his sister's poor health."
"...until one day Ariana suddenly died of illness. Some people said that Albus killed his sister, but this is nonsense! Her death made Albus heartbroken..."
"What about Aberforth? They should have a close relationship, why have I never heard Dumbledore mention him?" Harry asked with trembling lips.
"This is the most confusing thing about the whole thing. Someone heard Aberforth say that Ariana's death was all Albus's fault..."
Hermione raised her chin slightly and repeated uncertainly, "Someone said?"
"Yes, that's what Bathilda said. She lives next door to Albus." Doggie pointed to the small western-style building next door. "Over there."
"Bathilda Bagshot?" said Harry aloud. "Author of A History of Magic?"
"Yes, she is also an old friend of Albus and an expert in the history of magic." Doggie put down the teacup in his hand, took a long breath, and continued: "I am not here to tell you stories today."
Harry lowered his head and felt his heart suddenly empty. In six years, Dumbledore had never said these to him.
They had been in the same place and experienced the same thing, but Dumbledore hadn't said a word to him, he had never said...
Harry stared blankly at the plate of chocolate chip biscuits on the coffee table, hardly noticing what was going on around him.
"Ms. Granger, I think you are confused about something." Doggie looked at the parchment that they had hastily covered, but a corner of it was exposed.
Hermione hesitated for two seconds, then took out the parchment and a triangle pattern appeared before them.
"Mr. Doggie, do you know this?"
Dorjee's smile was filled with nostalgia and sadness: "This is a thrilling experience. I can only tell you that the three elements here represent three different things."
"Its name is the Deathly Hallows. As for the details, I think Albus has left them to you."
As the clock struck midnight, Dorje said goodbye.
Before going to bed, Harry, Ron and Hermione took out the things Dumbledore left for them.
"Avro's key belongs to this house, and Dumbledore hopes we can go to Godric's Hollow." Hermione analyzed while crossing out the key pattern on the parchment.
Ron sucked the light into the put-out switch and then lit up the bedroom. "He wouldn't want me to be your flashlight, would he?"
"You also know the word 'flashlight'?" Harry was a little surprised. He wondered when Ron learned the Muggle word.
Ron raised his head proudly and saw Hermione had opened her fairy tale book again.
"Didn't you read this book when you were a kid?" Ron clicked the De-luminator to turn on the light.
Hermione was flipping through The Tales of Beedle the Bard and ignored Ron's words. Ever since they started acting on their own, Ron had been acting like a chicken with its blood pumped up, showing off his courtesy in front of Aphrodite.
"We all heard these stories when we were kids, 'The Fountain of Luck', 'The Wizard and the Hopping Pot'..." Ron recited the bedtime stories written by Beedle like they were his own treasures.
"Aphrodite, you must have heard these stories when you were a child!"
Hermione and Afro smiled and shook their heads. Afro held her chin and looked at him with a smile.
"When we were little, we listened to Snow White, The Little Mermaid, Sleeping Beauty..."
"What's that? A disease?" Ron asked seriously.
Aphrodite and Hermione were laughing so hard that they were rolling on the ground. Ron looked at the two girls in confusion, not understanding why they were suddenly laughing.
Harry's heartbeat quickened as he held the Golden Snitch: "Do you remember the first time I caught the Golden Snitch?"
"Remember, you swallowed it whole." Wood covered his forehead and recalled the scene six years ago. The thrill and excitement seemed to have not disappeared.
"So you want to swallow it again?" Ron said with disgust.
Afro looked at Harry who frowned and said jokingly, "I think just a kiss will do."
(Reading reminder: There will be a lot of private settings near the end, which are very different from the original book and the movie. Please be careful if you mind.)
