Wilderness Redemption Tour

Chapter 324 Goodbye Hamish

"Damn it! Damn it! Damn Van der Linde!" Milton vented his anger by firing the bullets in his gun at Dutch's departing back. After he had used up all the bullets in his pistol, he took a deep breath, returned to his usual serious look, and calmly ordered his men, "You stay here and clean up this place. Mr. Cornwall is dead, this is a big deal, I will report this to the higher-ups immediately."

After saying that, Milton left alone.

In order to completely get rid of the enemy behind them, Lin Yan and others, led by Dachi, crossed mountains and rivers, ran north for nearly half an hour, and finally stopped near the Brandy Falls in the upper reaches of the Kamassa River.

"Hey!" Dachler stopped his white Arabian horse named Count and turned around to ask everyone: "Is everyone okay?"

"How can it be okay?" Arthur looked at Dutch while sitting on his horse. "Thanks to you, I think we will be moving again soon."

"Micah, give me those documents." Dutch heard Arthur complaining again, so he ignored him and got off his horse and went to Micah to ask him for the documents.

Micah pulled out the document from his chest and handed it to Dutch, and at the same time he spoke up for him, saying, "Are you blaming our boss, Morgan? We all know that Cornwall will be eliminated sooner or later. As for the detective named Milton, his appearance there can only be said to be a coincidence.

"You're right." Arthur agreed with Micah. "But we could have chosen not to take action today. Forcing ourselves to do so would only make things worse. Don't you realize that we are almost out of escape?"

Arthur said as he dismounted and walked over to Dutch: "Dutch, we haven't been hiding well these past few days. If they look carefully, they will find our hiding place in no time."

Dutch glanced over the documents in his hand, then turned to a page, pointed to a line of text and said to Arthur: "So we have to distract their attention and buy ourselves some time. Look at this, Mr. Cornwall's company has signed a railroad contract with the military... and this, they plan to transport explosives from the mine in Annesburg to St. Denis for resale... and this, his refinery has a large number of bonds, and almost no one knows about it except him and his assistants. These are our bargaining chips, and we will have something to do these days."

Dutch became more and more excited as he spoke, as if the freedom and wealth he had always dreamed of were right before his eyes.

"Micah." Dutch looked up at Micah, "Go back and ask Bill to go investigate the batch of explosives I just mentioned. Arthur, Jamie, follow them when they go. We need a lot of explosives, and this matter cannot be lost."

"Also, Micah, come here for a moment. I need to ask you something. There are some things I need to clarify."

"No problem, boss." Micah jumped off his horse and walked towards Dutch with a flattering look on his face.

"Find out what?" Arthur asked curiously.

"Some plan...a plan to escape from here..." Dutch said vaguely.

"Really?" Arthur asked.

Dutch said nothing and walked away with Micah.

Arthur shook his head in disappointment, turned around and said to Lin Yan: "Let's go, let's go back first."

"Aren't you going to wait for them?" Lin Yan asked.

Arthur smiled bitterly. "Don't you see? In their eyes, we are just two tools. When they need us, they can talk to us, but when they don't need us, they kick us away. They don't care about your feelings. Now they are obviously plotting something else. They wish that we, two unnecessary people, would disappear from their sight as soon as possible."

Lin Yan touched the back of his head and said, "I think it's okay to be a tool. Didn't Dutch say he did this for the gang?"

"If it was just Dutch's idea, I would certainly believe him, but once Micah gets involved, the purity of this matter will be greatly reduced. I feel that Micah has never been on the same page with us. For money, he may sell us out at any time."

"Don't worry, Dutch can definitely think of anything you can think of. Since Dutch still trusts Micah, it means Micah is still on our side. Now that one of you and Hosea is against him and the other has simply quit, there's nothing Dutch can do about it if he finds Micah."

"That's true." Arthur thought about it carefully and it was true. Although Dutch was the one who made the plan, he still needed to discuss some of the details with others. In the past, that person was Hosea, and Dutch would occasionally seek his advice. Now Hosea has completely withdrawn from the gang's affairs, and Arthur couldn't stand Dutch's current actions. Apart from the two of them, Micah was the most experienced and active person in the entire gang. Who else could Dutch turn to if not Micah?

Thinking of this, Arthur smiled even more bitterly. He felt that Dutch's finding Micah was entirely caused by him and Hosea. If the gang fell apart one day because of this, he and Hosea would also bear some responsibility.

Lin Yan didn't care about these things at all. The direction of the game was not up to him. Since he couldn't stop it, he might as well let it develop. Now he just wanted to get back as soon as possible because he had an appointment in the afternoon.

After returning to the camp, during lunch time, Lin Yan briefly "reported" to Sadie what happened in the morning. When she heard that a large number of Pinkerton detectives were unexpectedly attracted in the middle of the mission, Sadie's face was filled with pride, as if she was the biggest contributor to this matter.

After spending such a long time together, Lin Yan had a better understanding of Sadie's personality. He knew that she was a straightforward, open-minded, somewhat careless person who took everything seriously. So he immediately praised her for her "self-assertion" beforehand, which made Sadie very happy and her appetite was greatly opened. She ate twice as much as usual.

After lunch, Lin Yan told Hosea where he was going in the afternoon, and then took Sadie straight to Oakleaf Lake.

When I saw Hamish again, he was washing his warm-blood horse named Buell by the lake. Seeing Lin Yan arrive on time, Hamish, an elderly man living alone, was overjoyed and quickly put down his work and invited the two guests into the house.

"Coffee or tea?" Hamish asked them, holding up the kettle, after they sat down.

"You're welcome, we just need some water." Lin Yan took the kettle and poured a glass of water for himself and Sadie.

"What are we going to hunt?" Sadie asked Hamish. She was more interested in hunting than fishing.
