Wilderness Redemption Tour

Chapter 139 After Jack Returns Safely

The waiting time is always long. After dinner, everyone who sat together couldn't help showing a little anxiety after waiting for a while.

The uncle noticed everyone's impatience, and as someone who had always been good at livening up the atmosphere, he took it upon himself to adjust everyone's mood.

"It's not a good idea for us to just sit there and wait. Let me tell you a story." He adjusted his sitting position and slowly told the story in everyone's expectant eyes:

"When I was just a little boy, before anyone called me uncle, my real uncle, my uncle's cousin, Uncle Jeb, was a funny, weird guy. For some unexplainable reason, he was not the kind of person you would want to be alone with... I think you know what I mean."

"Anyway, he wanted to take me fishing one time, just the two of us, but knowing him well enough, I didn't want to go... Even so, he spent the next week trying to convince me to go. But in the end I played a trick and asked my brother's friend Ned to go instead. I didn't like Ned anyway."

"As I expected, both of them did some extremely bad things to each other..."

At this point, the uncle subconsciously looked at Bill, and quickly looked away before Bill noticed, and continued: "After the incident, Uncle Jeb did not drown Ned as I thought, but Ned stabbed 'little' Jeb with a knife. From then on, he changed from 'Uncle' Jeb to 'Aunt' Jeb."

The uncle laughed loudly and raised his hand to swear: "I promise that everything I said is true."

After he finished speaking, some of them looked at Bill intentionally or unintentionally. Through everyone's small movements, combined with some of their usual words and deeds towards Bill, Lin Yan seemed to have noticed Bill's "little secret".

After finishing one story, seeing that no one responded, the uncle was about to tell another one, but Hosea interrupted him and said, "Your story sounds too much like a story. Let's listen to the real thing that happened to me."

"Okay, I'd like to hear how true your story is..." the uncle muttered.

"Did I ever tell you I was nearly hanged once?"

"I've heard that. You told me that before," Lenny said.

"Ah... yes, I think I told Lenny about it once before." Hosea nodded, "But no one else has heard it, so I might as well say it again."

"When I was a kid, seventeen, or maybe eighteen, anyway I was very young, long before I met Dutch. I had just become an orphan, and I was caught because of a failed theft."

"A sheriff from some mountain happened to see me stealing something. I think I was stealing a chicken, and he decided to hang me for it. Isn't it ridiculous that the sheriff wanted to hang me for a chicken?"

"On the day of the execution, many onlookers were upset for me. In fact, it wasn't just me. The experiences of the other people who were executed that day were almost exactly the same as mine. They all committed minor crimes but had to face the punishment of being hanged in public. Because of this reason, most of the onlookers did not agree with the sentence. So during the execution, the crowd rioted, but the sheriff still insisted on executing all the prisoners on the stage."

"At that moment, a man I had never seen before appeared behind the crowd. He shot and cut all the ropes, cleanly and neatly. My neck was fine, but my butt was a little sore from falling from the execution platform. After doing this, the mysterious man turned and left. The sheriff who insisted on his own way was hanged by the angry crowd."

"Oh... were you scared at that time?" The uncle was fascinated by what he heard. When Hosea finished speaking, he asked with some lingering feeling.

"To be honest, I was so scared that I peed my pants." Hosea gave this hilarious answer in a rather serious tone.

Hosea's story is obviously more exciting than the one told by the uncle, especially the wonderful question and answer between the uncle and Hosea at the end, which pushed this originally suspenseful story to the level of comedy.

When Hosea said seriously that he was so scared that he wet his pants, the audience sitting around him all smiled and some even laughed out loud.

At this point, the camp, which had been dull for two days, was filled with laughter again after so many things had happened.

Although it had not yet risen to the level of the banquet, everyone's emotions had been aroused by the two little "stories" of the uncle and Hosea.

Just like that, two more hours passed. When Dutch returned safely with Jack, the atmosphere in the camp reached its climax.

Lin Yan noticed that little Jack's clothes had been changed into a beautiful doll-like children's outfit with lace trims. His little face was rosy and he looked like he had not been abused at all, but was being well taken care of.

When they saw Jack, the uncles and aunts in the gang who had been waiting for him all night surrounded him and were affectionate with him.

The excited gang members sang a song in an unknown language accompanied by Javier. Some sang and some danced. At this moment, even though it was close to midnight, the atmosphere in the camp was like a bar in a town when the lights were on, and there was a joyful atmosphere everywhere.

After the song ended and Abigail took Jack back to the house to sleep, the Van der Linde gang's celebration party officially began.

Lin Yan was naturally happy for Jack's safe return. That night, he toasted with everyone in the camp, enjoying the songs of Uncle, Javier, Arthur, and others, the stories told by Hosea, Pearson, Mrs. Bell, and the dances of Dutch, Marybeth, Karen, and others, until the sky in the east turned pale, and this joyful "party" finally came to an end.

Lin Yan, who was drunk, wandered around the camp, trying to find his bed. After searching in vain, he found a place nearby to lie down, and was not discovered until noon when Sadie called him.

Lin Yan was actually woken up by Sadie. Before he opened his eyes and his mind was still in a daze, he felt someone touching his face. When he opened his eyes, he found that Sadie was pulling his collar with her left hand and hitting his face with her right hand.

"You...what are you doing..." Lin Yan muttered and wanted to go back to sleep.

Sadie saw that he was awake, and quickly turned his head to the left, shouting, "Still sleeping! Still sleeping! Look who you are sleeping with!"
