Wade's mind was filled with many thoughts, as well as the various changes in the plot—the Basilisk in the Chamber of Secrets, Peter Pettigrew hiding in Gryffindor, the Quidditch World Cup and the Goblet of Fire, Barty Crouch's escape from prison, Voldemort's resurrection, and the incompetent Ministry of Magic...
There are also Horcruxes that Voldemort has hidden in various places... and several ways to destroy Horcruxes—
The Gryffindor sword.
The serpent's fangs.
And fierce fire.
I still need to learn the Fiendfyre spell... Just think of the raging fire that Grindelwald set half of Paris ablaze, and Dumbledore's wand that created a sea of flames like a god of fire...
If he had the same ability, would he need to be so cautious?
Wade wrote down his thoughts on a piece of paper, looked at it for a while, then rolled the paper into a ball and held it close to the candle flame, watching it gradually burn to ashes.
The flickering firelight reflected in his pupils, but deep within his eyes, another scene seemed to unfold—Hogwarts was engulfed by a dark mass of Death Eaters, trolls and eight-eyed spiders rampaged about, and corpses lay scattered on the cold ground.
In the midst of war, life is so fragile.
And then there are those things that weren't shown in the story—after Dumbledore's death, Hogwarts and the Ministry of Magic were almost entirely taken over by the Dark Lord's followers, forcing the trio of main characters to flee... During that short yet long year, how many non-pure-blood wizards were persecuted?
What about Muggles? And what about the Squibs that nobody pays any attention to? Did they escape because they were weak, or were they so weak that even if they were killed, they would only become a cold string of numbers in the newspaper?
Suddenly, Ferdinand and Fiona's smiling faces flashed before Vader's eyes, followed by two other faces that were already blurred in his memory, faces that were trying to smile despite their sadness.
He covered his eyes with his palms and sighed wearily.
The chapter content has been revised.
Chapter 98 Roar
Lupin was very efficient; by noon the next day, he told Wade that he had bought the vanishing cabinet from Borgin-Bock.
Meanwhile, under the pretext of studying alchemy, Vader borrowed the Vanishing Cabinet from Professor McGonagall for his research, assuring her that he was aware of the dangers and would not recklessly venture inside.
The Vanishing Cabinet is a black and gold cabinet engraved with ancient runes and various wondrous patterns. Ancient magic has created a magical passage between the two Vanishing Cabinets, allowing people to teleport instantly even at Hogwarts, where Apparition is forbidden.
In the story, the Death Eaters stormed Hogwarts through this passage, and Dumbledore died that night.
Vader used a shrinking charm to bring the Vanishing Cabinet to the Room of Requirement, and then took the time to experiment. He contacted Lupin through the Book of Friends, put all sorts of things into the Vanishing Cabinet, and then took them out from the other end.
The previous experiments went smoothly—apples, bread, pillows, buckets, and other similar items were put in and taken out intact.
Lupin then suggested conducting experiments on living creatures—rats, rabbits, pygmy pigs… their bodies became increasingly similar to humans, and they were gradually replaced by magical beings.
The experiment went wrong on the thirteenth attempt.
When Vader opened the cabinet door, he sensed something was wrong. After opening the door, he found a dwarf pig monster lying inside, lifeless.
[Wade: It's dead.]
[Lupin: What happened?]
[Wade: There are no wounds, but he's stopped breathing. You can take a look over there.]
Vader closed the cabinet door again, then Lupin opened it and saw the pig-like monster's cold corpse. He moved it out and examined it carefully.
[Lupin: The body was very cold, as if it had been dead for at least three or four hours. There were strange cracks in the skin, and the bones were brittle, crisper than a biscuit. It seemed to have gone somewhere strange the moment the door closed, and then died there.]
[Lupin: Wade, the Vanishing Cabinet is more dangerous than we thought.]
[Wade: I understand. The experiment is paused. Let me see if I can repair this cabinet.]
When he put down his pen, Wade couldn't help but feel a little disappointed.
He thought the Vanishing Cabinet was destroyed by Peeves when Harry was in his second year, but he didn't realize that it wasn't intact before it was destroyed.
He stared intently at the Vanishing Cabinet. Slowly, countless golden magic runes appeared like flowing water, complex magic circles were stacked layer upon layer, and hundreds of ancient magic runes were wrapped around the Vanishing Cabinet like chains.
Minor flaws, incomplete patterns, runes worn down by time, a magic seemingly corroded...
He found the missing parts of the vanishing cabinet bit by bit.
……
Umbrella House.
After the combat training ended, everyone applied ointment to each other's bruises. Harry asked, "Wade seems really busy lately? He only comes to the Umbrella House once every three or four days."
Each time he comes, he spends about an hour teaching them a new spell, pointing out the problems they encounter in their learning, and then disappears again very quickly.
“Yes,” Michael said helplessly. “That alchemy professor seems to have given Wade a very difficult assignment. Lately, he rarely even comes back to the lounge, and always stays elsewhere studying alchemy.”
The cleaning crabs scurried over, collected all the sanitary pads, and mopped the floor.
Everyone's eyes involuntarily followed it as it circled the house. Only after the crab returned to its shell and quietly lay down did they leave the umbrella house. Just as they descended one floor, they encountered an unexpected person.
"Hello, everyone..."
Professor Quirrell seemed startled by the unexpected encounter. With an awkward smile, he reached out and stammered a greeting to his students.
Michael, Hermione, and Ryan instinctively lowered their heads and said as if in great respect, "Good evening, Professor."
Harry and Theo greeted him warmly, "Hello, Professor Quirrell." Neville, a step behind, quickly followed suit with a greeting.
As they were about to part ways, Harry added, "Good luck, Professor! You're really brave!"
Professor Quirrell gave a short, nervous laugh and waved his hand slightly.
“You…” Hermione stared intently at Harry, her eyes seemingly holding a thousand unspoken words.
Theo then went straight to the point: "Harry, do you think Professor Quirrell... uh... brave?"
There was no professor in the entire school more cowardly than Quirrell.
“You don’t understand.” Harry said deeply, as if he had many secrets in his heart, “Professor Quirrell is fighting against evil, and he is truly remarkable.”
Theo and Neville, though confused, nodded blankly. The others exchanged knowing glances.
“Keep an eye on him, don’t let them get any closer,” Michael said in a low voice.
Everyone nodded silently, feeling a heavy responsibility on their shoulders.
……
Harry was unaware of others' worries. As always, he returned to his dormitory with joy, shared what he had learned that day with Ron, played wizard chess for a while, and then went to bed.
But for some reason, the scar on his forehead throbbed faintly tonight. While everyone else was fast asleep, Harry couldn't fall asleep. He simply put on his coat and sat by the window, gazing at the starry night sky outside.
Suddenly, a dark shadow flashed across his field of vision. It took Harry a moment to realize that it was a person flying through the sky on a broomstick!
Who is that?
What was he doing flying around the school in the middle of the night?
Without hesitation, Harry found his Nimbus 2000, went through the window, mounted his broom, and jumped off the eighth floor of the castle!
He quickly descended from the sky, then quickly regained his altitude, circling for a moment before spotting a figure near the Black Lake. Harry circled around from high above, and upon closer inspection, realized that the person standing there was none other than Wade.
"Hey, Wade." Harry put down his broom and went over, asking, "What are you doing here?"
"Harry?" Wade turned around, somewhat surprised. "It's so late, you're still awake?"
"I can't sleep." Harry touched the scar on his forehead and said, "I don't know why, but I have a bit of a headache today—maybe Snape is cursing me from under the Black Lake?"
Wade's gaze swept over the lightning-shaped scar as he answered the previous question: "I was just about to go back to sleep when I suddenly saw what looked like a white-haired person here... but when I flew over, I found that he was gone."
He wasn't sure if the figure he saw tonight was the same one he'd seen more than six months ago, but for some reason, Wade was always very concerned about it.
Perhaps because of the distance, he never saw that person's name.
Harry scratched his head, not thinking it through, and guessed, "Maybe you saw it wrong?"
"may be."
Wade did not argue. He saw Hagrid, carrying an oil lamp and accompanied by his hound Tooth, enter the Forbidden Forest under the cover of night.
“Looks like Hagrid isn’t asleep yet either,” Wade said.
"They must have gone to feed Norbert," Harry said casually.
“Nober?” Wade suddenly turned to look at him.
“Yes! Oh, that baby dragon, Hagrid named it Norbert.” Harry explained, “It grew too big to stay in the cabin, so Hagrid moved it to a cave in the Forbidden Forest.”
Wade was surprised: "They didn't send them away?"
Harry sighed helplessly, "Hermione tried to persuade him several times, and Ron also said that his brother Charlie was researching dragons in Romania and could send Norber there to be taken care of, but Hagrid just wouldn't let go..."
"Roar----"
Suddenly, a tremendous roar resounded in the forbidden forest, and a beam of fire shot straight into the sky!
Chapter 99 Jungle
The roar of the dragon suddenly rang out, abruptly tearing apart the peaceful night sky of Hogwarts.
"Hagrid!"
Harry yelled and immediately mounted his broomstick and flew away.
"Gryffindor..."
Wade sighed helplessly.
