Chapter 74 Chen Yu's Style

Chapter 74 Chen Yu's Style (Fifth Update)

Although this "Rust Seeker" prototype was full of compromises and flaws in Chen Yu's eyes, it was far from the perfect state that a Mechanicus assassin should be.

However, it is undeniable that compared with the military technology experimental body before the transformation, which was poorly integrated and riddled with hidden dangers, Mowell's strength has undergone a qualitative leap.

The most significant improvement was seen in the nervous system.

The mechanical teaching standard neural network implanted by Chen Yu, which integrates the efficient logic protocol of the mobile AI, completely replaced the original inferior interfaces that suffered from severe rejection and signal delay.

Now, every thought of Mowell's can be transmitted to the extremities of his body with almost no delay.

The excruciating nerve pain, like being constantly pierced by steel needles, caused by the overload of the implant, has completely disappeared.

She felt a clarity in her mind like never before, and had complete control over her body, as if she had been freed from heavy shackles.

Since undergoing military-grade modifications, her body has never felt so coordinated and relaxed.

Mowell did not lose his memory after waking up.

She still remembers her experience as a lieutenant in military technology, the harsh training and bloody missions.

Through Chen Yu's profound transformation, combined with the continuous release of specific pheromones and the regulation of electrical signal frequencies by the neural network, Mowell's mental state underwent a subtle reshaping.

Her original loyalty to military technology has been completely reversed, and she is now firmly anchored to Chen Yu, her creator and master.

Chen Yu's approach here differs from that of other mechanical priests.

He did not perform a complete physical overhaul of Mowell's brain, nor did he remove the so-called "unnecessary" emotional areas, nor did he install the kind of behavioral control module that stifles all independent thinking and forces absolute obedience.

Of course, out of basic caution, he implanted several backdoor programs deep within Mowell's nervous system.

If necessary, he can take direct control of her body, manipulate her actions, or enforce specific instructions.

However, Chen Yu chose to preserve her autonomy, thinking ability, and battlefield judgment to the greatest extent possible.

This was not out of respect for life or special consideration for Mowell personally.

In Chen Yu's value system, efficiency is paramount.

He observed that many of his colleagues in the Warhammer world had an almost obsessive desire to control their subordinates, wishing they could turn all the Guardians into absolutely obedient mechs like intelligent machine guns.

To this end, they make extensive use of behavior control modules, completely depriving soldiers of their autonomy, and even directly micromanaging them during wartime, turning them into war machines devoid of any subjective initiative.

Compared to the servants and intelligent mechs, the only "privilege" of these religious protectors is perhaps that negligible and easily revoked limited freedom of action.

If these colleagues possessed exceptional talent in war command, or at least above-average tactical skills, Chen Yu might not have commented much. However, according to his observation, the vast majority of his colleagues, including those wise commanders specializing in war command, relied heavily on pre-set data analysis and rigid logical models in their command methods, lacking the brilliance to adapt to changing circumstances.

In Chen Yu's view, rigid and inflexible command, coupled with soldiers whose initiative has been completely stifled, is a huge waste of resources and a sign of inefficiency.

For this reason, although Chen Yu also made extensive use of servants and the Christian Guard, he preferred to retain a certain degree of autonomy in decision-making within the Christian Guard.

He allowed them to make on-the-spot decisions based on the actual situation on the battlefield and encouraged them to make use of their own tactical strengths.

This move was seen as heretical by some colleagues, who believed it would lead to inconsistent implementation standards and increase unnecessary risks.

However, in the long run and from a macro perspective, Chen Yu's troops often had a higher mission completion rate. In many battles that seemed hopeless, the self-aware Christian troops were able to make brilliant responses that exceeded the data models, bringing unexpected results.

He believes this is a more efficient way to utilize "human" resources.

After the modification was completed, Chen Yu conducted a series of basic performance tests on Mowell.

The results confirmed that, although limited by materials, her absolute defense and some extreme data failed to reach the design peak, her speed, agility, neural reaction speed, and the lethality of the new weapon system have far exceeded the level before the modification, and the hidden danger of cyber psychosis has been completely eradicated.

During the testing process, Mowell adapted to her new body and strength.

She felt the surging power provided by the miniature fusion reactor behind her flowing through her reinforced tendons and alloy bones. Although there was still some loss in energy transfer, it was still more powerful and stronger than she had imagined.

She felt the almost silent yet slightly distorting deathly tremor as the sonic blade slid from her palm.

After Chen Yu briefly explained the team's current situation and the potential ongoing troubles brought about by military and biotechnology, Mower volunteered.

“Master,” her voice came through the newly generated synthesized audio channel that could simulate near-native speech, metallic in texture but firm in tone, “the company is essentially a hyena chasing profits. They covet the power and knowledge you possess, just as hyenas drool over fresh meat.”

But when they realize that tearing through this flesh will come at the cost of having their throats pierced by a sharp blade, and possibly even losing all their teeth, they will learn to weigh the options and back down.

As she spoke, she gently flicked out the sonic blade hidden on the inside of her wrist. The invisible ultra-high frequency vibration caused the surrounding air to distort slightly. "The threat of death, especially a precise and undefendable death, often makes them understand most directly that the cost of continuing to entangle them far exceeds their ability to bear it."

However, Chen Yu had reservations about the effectiveness of relying solely on assassinations as a deterrent.

He calmly analyzed, "Your thinking makes some sense, but it's too simplistic. For individual senior executives, life is certainly precious, but for the company as a large collective consciousness, the loss of one or two senior executives is often just an acceptable 'reasonable loss' compared to the huge profits that could be gained, enough to monopolize the market or even change the landscape."

They dispose of the dead like replacing worn-out parts, then continue looking for opportunities. Mere killing may not truly deter them.

He paused slightly, the crimson optical lens flashing steadily as he offered a more complex explanation: "But if assassination is considered a clear means of signal transmission, the situation is different."

By precisely eliminating one or two senior executives in charge of this matter who hold a certain position but are not irreplaceable, we can send a clear message: 'We have the ability to take any of your lives at any time.'

This is not enough to quell its greed, but it is enough to force it back to the negotiating table, or at least to conduct a longer and more cautious internal assessment before taking the next step.
