Chapter 38 Technological Applications
The core code of the roving AI is like a venomous snake stripped of its fangs and will, slowly unfurling within the data sandbox meticulously constructed by Chen Yu.
It was no longer aggressive, only its purest structure and algorithm remained, waiting to be analyzed and studied. After several days and nights of tireless analysis, Chen Yu had grasped the situation of this digital creation.
"Old buddy, record the core findings." Chen Yu stood in front of the main terminal, the data stream reflected like a waterfall in his crimson optical lens.
"The core algorithm of this AI is indeed unique. Its adaptive learning module is incredibly efficient, able to quickly build a response model with limited data input; its logical reasoning path, while basic, is exceptionally concise and efficient, eliminating almost all redundant calculations."
What's most interesting is its information compression and transmission protocol, which maintains extremely high information fidelity even in low-bandwidth environments... and also has a certain degree of self-optimization and upgrade capabilities...
Military technology did indeed touch upon some interesting thresholds back then, but unfortunately, their methods of control were too brutal, failing to truly 'tame' it and instead stimulating its rebellious instincts.
The servo skull floated silently to the side, the blue light in its eye sockets flashing steadily, recording every analysis and every data node from its owner.
“If these technologies can be integrated with the knowledge system of the Mechanical Education, they will undoubtedly produce a wonderful chemical reaction.” Chen Yu’s mechanical tentacles tapped unconsciously on the workbench, making a regular, light sound. “Especially when applied to auxiliary automated units… it might be able to make up for our current shortage of manpower.”
His gaze slowly shifted to the corner of the workshop, where three assembled replica servo skulls floated quietly.
Their appearance is rough, their eyes are dim, and they can only perform the most basic patrol, scanning, and transmission commands, lacking real adaptability.
An idea gradually becomes clear and takes shape at the core of his logic.
He would not, and absolutely would not, implant any unpurified code originating from heretical technology directly into the servo skull that has been with him for a long time and carries critical information.
That would be a desecration of loyal allies and a betrayal of the Mechanicus creed.
Any uncontrollable risks must be kept outside the core circle.
But these imitations... they are the ideal testing ground.
“It’s time for a technology integration,” Chen Yu muttered to himself.
He selected one of the replica skulls and placed it on a precision workbench.
The mechanical tentacles precisely opened its somewhat rough skull, revealing a rudimentary processor and wiring inside.
He did not directly implant a copy of the roving AI's code—that would have been tantamount to creating another potential enemy.
Instead, based on his in-depth analysis over the past few days, he began to write a completely new core logic code that combined the strengths of both sides.
He uses the underlying obedience protocol of the mechanical servo skull as a framework to ensure its absolute loyalty to the creator and the priority of commands.
Then, he reconstructed and rewrote the efficient adaptive learning modules, concise logical reasoning paths, and optimized information processing protocols from the roving AI algorithms and integrated them into the basic framework.
He removed all redundant code and emotional simulation units that could have led to the emergence of "self-awareness," and strictly limited its scope of thought and goal orientation.
This is a meticulous and time-consuming task.
He is building a "logical prototype" that possesses a certain degree of intelligence and flexibility, while also being absolutely safe and controllable.
Hours later, a complex sequence of code, shimmering with a ghostly blue light, was finally compiled in the virtual interface in front of him.
It operated stably, exhibiting both the rigidity and precision characteristic of mechanical creations, and subtly revealing a hint of the efficient and cunning potential once possessed by stray AI. "Initialization protocol ready. Old friend, monitor all system parameters, especially the stability of the core logic loop," Chen Yu commanded.
"Monitoring. Energy supply is stable, and data interface is working properly," the servo skull responded.
Chen Yu's tentacles carefully uploaded the compiled code to the core processor interface of the replica skull.
hum...
A slight vibration came from inside the replica skull.
The sensor light in its eye socket gradually changed from a dim red to a deeper, more stable blue, and began to show subtle, regular changes in brightness, as if it were performing some kind of basic initialization self-check.
The previously sluggish skull rotated slightly as the scanning beam swept across the workbench, then Chen Yu, and finally the servo skull beside him.
Its movements were no longer as stiff and pre-planned as before, but rather carried a sense of...exploration.
"Basic instruction test: Identify the creator." Chen Yu issued the first instruction.
The blue light from the replica skull's eye sockets focused on Chen Yu, and the jawbone emitted a slight clicking sound. A synthesized voice, slightly more "vivid" than the previous monotonous electronic voice, rang out: "Identification: Highest authority unit, Creator: Chen Yu."
"Command confirmed: Conduct an environmental scan, identify potential threats and non-standard objects." Seeing that the replica skull seemed to be performing well, Chen Yu tried issuing commands to it.
The skull slowly rose into the air, and the scanning beam meticulously swept over every corner of the workshop.
It skipped over the normal tools and materials, but paused for a moment when it scanned a pile of unsorted discarded parts.
"A structural instability risk has been detected in material pile No. 3, and it is recommended that it be repositioned," it reported.
This is a judgment based on simple logical reasoning, rather than a simple scan feedback, indicating that the new code is working.
Chen Yu nodded in satisfaction; the effect was even better than he had expected.
This nascent "logical prototype" seems to have already acquired basic environmental awareness and simple problem-solving abilities, rather than simply executing rigid commands.
“Very good! I’m giving you a temporary designation: ‘Experiment No. 1’,” Chen Yu said. “Your primary task is to assist the servo skull in daily data processing and preliminary analysis, and to learn and optimize your working mode.”
"Command received. Number confirmed: Test Subject 1. Begin auxiliary task." Test Subject 1 turned to the servo skull, the blue light in its eye sockets flickering slightly, seemingly establishing a data connection and preparing to begin its new work.
Chen Yu gazed at this newborn creation.
It is still very immature and has limited logical ability, but it is undoubtedly a successful start.
This "wealth" brought back from the depths of the earth is being transformed into tangible technological progress.
“Keep monitoring its operation, old friend,” Chen Yu said to the initial servo skull. “Record all anomalies and learning curves. We need more data to refine this ‘logic prototype’.”
Inside the workshop, two skulls—one ancient and loyal, the other newborn and brimming with intelligence—began their collaborative work.
