Chapter 49 Questions
Chapter 49 Questions
Ulan Aodeng was also somewhat troubled by Maiduo's desire to learn how to shoot.
"Then when you graduate from school, Dad will teach you, how about that?"
Ulan Aodeng squatted down and reached out to pat Maiduo's little head.
It's good for a child to have goals, even if those goals are a bit daunting for him.
When Maiduo heard her father agree, her eyes lit up, and she nodded like a chick pecking at rice.
"Okay, it's settled then!"
Ulan Aodeng's expression turned serious: "However, learning to shoot is no joke; it's much harder than just blindly practicing like this."
"We must build a solid foundation. Starting tomorrow, training can no longer be as playful as before."
Although Maiduo would sometimes come along to train on her own initiative, it was mostly just playing around and didn't really have any real impact.
Maiduo patted her chest and said, "Don't worry, Dad, I will train hard from now on."
Seeing that Maiduo was as sensible as ever, Ulan Aodeng felt very gratified.
He didn't say anything more, and turned to look at Hong Kou and Po Xiao: "Here's what we'll do, you two watch how they train first, and I'll teach you again tomorrow."
Ulan Aodeng refers to the trainees who are still in training. They wear masks that cover their upper faces, and it is unknown what the purpose of these masks is.
“Yes, Instructor Wulan,” Hong Kou and Po Xiao said in unison.
Instructor
Ulan Aodeng stroked his beard, as he rarely heard the term "instructor."
"Okay, that's settled then." Ulan Aodeng waved his hand, turned around, and walked back to the group of trainees.
Hong Kou and Po Xiao retreated to the sidelines as instructed, their gazes fixed on the students whose upper faces were covered by masks.
The two had only been watching for a few minutes when a commotion came from the direction of the small square at the edge of the training ground.
Hong Kou instinctively looked in the direction of the sound.
Several weary travelers were seen unloading items from a modified off-road vehicle.
Most of those things were rusty or covered in thick dust.
Some have twisted structures, while others have severely damaged shells; they are clearly junk salvaged from some ancient ruin.
They were carefully piled up in a corner of the square.
Yang Chen appeared there, accompanied by Bai Yuekui.
He sat down at a stone table not far away, while she held an old-fashioned thermos in her hands.
Steam rose from the cup as she sipped slowly, her silver hair gleaming coolly in the sunlight, her gaze calmly fixed on Yang Chen and the pile of "junk".
Ulan Aodeng also noticed the commotion over there, but didn't go to investigate; he had seen it many times over the years.
Over there, Yang Chen had already walked to the pile of equipment.
He first glanced around casually, then squatted down, stretched out his right hand, and gently pressed it on a square piece of equipment whose outer shell was severely dented, covered in rust, and whose original shape was no longer recognizable.
The device was quite large, and it looked like part of some kind of medical instrument or control terminal.
A noble horse can ward off all external forces.
A soft blue halo suddenly appeared in Yang Chen's palm, instantly spreading out from his palm and covering the entire rusty equipment.
The miracle unfolded right before the eyes of Red and Dawn. They had witnessed this ability heal Dawn's arm, but they had never seen the medical equipment.
A teeth-grinding "creak" sound came, and the severely dented shell was gently smoothed out as if by an invisible hand. The twisted metal structure reset itself, emitting a subtle adjusting sound.
The thick rust covering it quickly melted and peeled off, revealing a brand-new, clean metal surface underneath.
At some broken pipe joints, as blue light flowed, new joints emerged as if growing out, fitting perfectly.
In just a few breaths, the equipment that was originally like scrap metal was completely transformed.
Yang Chen withdrew his hand, and the blue light dissipated. He patted the "new" device and nodded in satisfaction.
He looked up at the group of awakened beings and said, "We don't need this anymore. We can ask other settlements if they need it."
“Yes, Boss Yang!” The leader of the group of awakened practitioners immediately came to his senses and nodded respectfully.
"Old Nan is doing the statistics. In a while, he will move the ones we don't need to other settlements."
"Mm." Yang Chen nodded.
Then, his gaze shifted to a more complex instrument next to him, covered with a broken dashboard and exposed cables.
As the blue light enveloped the area, Yang Chen repaired the junk he had salvaged. Dragon Bone Village already had most of the equipment and instruments it needed, but they still required some recreational items.
After all, once material needs are met, spiritual needs also need to be met.
"Alright, you can take it back and keep it."
The travelers agreed, loaded the repaired equipment back onto the vehicle, and drove off in another direction from the village.
Yang Chen watched the vehicle carrying the equipment drive away, then turned and walked towards Bai Yuekui's direction.
He had only taken two steps when he caught a glimpse of two familiar figures at the edge of the training field out of the corner of his eye.
He paused slightly, a hint of surprise flashing in his eyes.
Bai Yuekui clearly noticed the shift in Yang Chen's gaze, and gently rubbed the warm inside of the thermos with his fingers as he followed Yang Chen's line of sight.
Hong Kou and Po Xiao immediately noticed the gazes cast by the two big shots.
Both of them nodded in greeting towards Yang Chen and Bai Yuekui, a silent gesture.
Yang Chen walked over to Bai Yuekui and sat down on the stone bench next to her, but his gaze remained fixed on Hong Kou in the distance.
"Why did those two end up here at Ao Deng's place?" Yang Chen asked Bai Yuekui, turning his head with a hint of doubt in his voice.
"I remember the basic guidance for Guiyuan should be in the mining area, right?"
Bai Yuekui took a small sip of the warm water in his cup.
"He probably wants to master the Returning to Origin technique as soon as possible." Bai Yuekui's voice was calm and composed, and his gaze returned to the training ground.
"Dennis's training regimen might be more suitable for them."
She paused, then added, "She's working very hard."
Upon hearing this, Yang Chen's lips curled into a smile.
He stood up and patted off non-existent dust from his pants.
"I'll go over and take a look."
With that, Yang Chen strode forward and walked straight toward Red Bandit and Dawn at the sidelines.
Bai Yuekui watched his retreating figure as he walked towards the two young men, without saying anything more. He simply picked up his thermos again and calmly followed his movements.
Yang Chen stopped in front of Hong Kou and Po Xiao, his face bearing his usual gentle smile, his gaze sweeping over the two of them.
“Red Bandit, Dawn Breaks,” Yang Chen said.
"How have you been staying in the village these past few days? Do you miss life at the lighthouse?"
Hong Kou chuckled: "The village is nice, and the people are easy to get along with."
"Compared to this, life in the lighthouse feels more like a dream."
Dawn, standing beside him, nodded vigorously in agreement.
"Hmm," Yang Chen nodded.
Then he glanced at Ulan Aodeng not far away and said, "Actually, we can take it slow and there's no need to rush."
"We feel guilty for not making some contributions while enjoying such a good life."
Hong Kou's answer was sincere and firm, and although Po Xiao remained silent, he shared the same thoughts.
Yang Chen looked at the eagerness in their eyes to prove their worth and understood.
He could understand that feeling.
The thing people who survive in the wasteland fear most is becoming a burden, even though that's a thing of the past.
"Okay, good luck to you guys."
Yang Chen didn't say anything about Dragon Bone Village not lacking resources; he simply waved his hand and prepared to leave.
But Hong Kou suddenly called out to him.
"that."
"We have some questions we'd like to ask you, but we don't know if it's convenient for you."
