Devil's Bible
Chapter 3 One Perfect Wave in One Lifetime
Chapter 3 A Once-in-a-Lifetime Perfect Wave
"But no matter what, we still need to catch that little devil first in order to find out who's causing trouble in this village!" Nemus carefully sensed his body's condition and then made an assessment.
"This body is only of the Black Stone type. Although Nair maintains his exercise routine, he still smokes and drinks, and his body and mind are both injured. He has not reached the limit of the Black Stone type. According to the value of a normal Black Stone type being one and the limit being ten, this body, even with the breathing technique and the life enhancement just now, only reaches a value of eight."
"The little devil only needs to adapt to the physical body slightly to directly reach the limit of the Black Stone Seed, and will possess the extraordinary characteristic of immortality in advance, and will not be harmed by ordinary weapons."
"Of course I can also strengthen my body with demonic power, but that would expose me. My current Paladin Breathing Technique can harm the opponent, but killing them would require too much of my life force, which is not worth it."
"Furthermore, demons are excellent henchmen; we can't afford to waste them..."
A series of thoughts flashed through Naim's mind, and then he had an idea.
He glanced at Towns, who was standing to the side with his head down, pondering how to repair the sheepfold.
Towns originally lived near the sheepfold, and now Naim's excellent eyesight allowed him to easily see the other's residence and the remaining sheep huddled together inside the sheepfold. The situation inside gave him a general idea of Towns' personality.
Beneath his dutiful shepherd persona lies a restless heart.
He was a person who was tempted by the 'devil'.
“Downs, right? You want to make a change, gain power, and become someone important?” Nemes said directly. There was no need for beating around the bush with people trapped in small villages; they might not understand anyway.
"I...can I?" Downs looked up at Nemus and saw himself reflected in Nemus's eyes once again, so humble and so weak.
“I’m just a lowly commoner, a shepherd, how could I…”
Towns simply lacked the confidence to do anything well except herd sheep; his inner darkness confined him to the sheepfold area.
Until now, a ray of light pierced through the darkness.
“Of course!” Nems’s firm tone made Downs feel his blood start to boil.
"Towns, what you need to know is that the most terrifying thing in life is not mediocrity, but accepting your own mediocrity."
"A monotonous life, day after day, will wear everything down."
“Now is an opportunity.” Nemus’s words had a seductive power: “Assist me in resolving the demon incident, and you will gain power, and your status will be completely transformed!”
"You will break free from the cage of mediocrity and become a completely new person."
"So you're willing to obey my orders in exchange for this opportunity?"
In the daily grind of life on Earth, Nemus felt an unprecedented anxiety, as everything about him was being worn down by a curse called ordinariness.
When the miracle of time travel happened to him, he was overjoyed, knowing that what he had been waiting for had finally arrived.
Everything he did was in preparation for that once-in-a-lifetime perfect wave to crash in, and then to ride it and reach the pinnacle!
Even falling into the abyss did not change this idea.
That powerful force emanating from within infected Downs, leaving him speechless, his mind completely occupied by Nems' words.
Confined by his status as an outcast, and believing he would be a shepherd for life, he learned the meaning of life for the first time.
His whole body trembled slightly with excitement.
"I am willing!"
As Downs answered, Nemus's demonic power subtly shifted, and a new contract was formed. Dealing with someone who didn't understand demonic knowledge was incredibly easy; a few words were enough to make them blurt out and sign the contract.
"Very good, you just wait here in the sheepfold. I'll be back here tonight, and I'll tell you what to do then. When you hear my voice, you must do as I say immediately, understand?!"
"Understood!" Towns nodded vigorously, and the muttony smell on his body seemed to have faded considerably.
After making this arrangement, Nemus turned around and returned to his residence, ate a meager lunch, and then completed the secondary law inherent to Nemus's identity, maintaining the enhanced power of his swordsmanship.
It was dusk.
Although demons are not afraid of the sun, they are basically nocturnal.
It is only because people are more vulnerable at night, and all sorts of wicked desires emerge, that the devil's actions are greatly facilitated.
That little devil ate a sheep last night, so it must be hiding its presence during the day and digesting it in secret.
Nemes had no intention of looking for rats in the gutter.
Now, as the sun gradually sets and night is about to fall, that little devil is already stirring, his desires overflowing uncontrollably.
In Nems' eyes, it was as clear as a bonfire party in the dark.
"This demon was most likely summoned by someone." Nemus walked unhurriedly in the darkness. The night did not hinder him, and the torch in his hand was more of a disguise for his night vision.
As soon as he finished speaking, a dark figure lunged out from the shadows.
Nemus raised his knight's sword, clashing with the dark figure, sparks flying in the night, like metal clashing.
In Nems' eyes, the dark shadow was a pitch-black rat, as big as a large dog.
Its entire body exuded a black aura, as if it were smoking, and the demonic aura was particularly obvious.
The rat demon missed its target and quickly darted to the side, then a dark, gooey thing was flung at it.
Nems could see clearly that it was the large, flesh-colored tail of the segment, which swung with lightning speed.
However, although Nair is an awkward person, his own strength is still quite sufficient.
Nemes dodged the attack by sidestepping, then maintained his breathing. The unique breathing technique passed down from the church slightly stimulated his body, and a spark of inspiration burst forth from within him.
With a single upward slash, the demon's body, which was originally as hard as metal, and its rat tail, which was as strong as iron chains, softened under the spiritual light.
The blade sliced across the tail, and some black blood dripped down.
Although the large tail was not completely severed, it was no longer flexible, with only a little skin and flesh remaining, drooping at the base of the tail.
The pain fueled the demon's ferocity; it opened its mouth wide and let out a low growl.
"Alright, don't force me to kill you. Can we talk now?" Nemus said, ignoring the demon's roar, while releasing a hint of greedy desire from his body.
During this crucial period for the new book, your continued reading is especially important. Thank you all for staying tuned.
