Hogwarts: Dumbledore reigned over the wizarding world
Chapter 25: Secrets and Potions Research
Chapter 25: Secrets and Potions Research
The next day, Saturday.
Today, I visited Gryffindor Vaughan and saw Harry and Ron heading towards the Forbidden Forest early in the morning, with Hermione following behind them with a book in her arms.
"I want to watch you." This was her answer.
Ron felt that Hermione was definitely taking revenge on him and was planning to keep an eye on their every move and report them to the professors if they made any mistakes.
But Harry disagreed: "Hermione values the house points more than anything else. She won't wait for us to make a mistake and then cause Gryffindor to lose points."
"So what is she going to do? Merlin's beard, every time I look back, I see someone following me sinisterly. Do you know how scary that is?"
Harry didn't want to know.
They went to Hagrid's hut at the edge of the Forbidden Forest together. Hagrid welcomed them warmly. Hermione also went into the house, but she almost only talked to Hagrid and ignored Harry and Ron the whole time.
There, Harry found a newspaper reporting on the robbery of Gringotts. Judging from the time, it was the day he and Hagrid went to Gringotts.
Considering what Hagrid was going to Gringotts to get at that time, Harry quickly connected the two things together.
When he came back, he slapped the newspaper and said to Ron and Hermione:
"The people who robbed Gringotts might have been looking for the things Hagrid took. He was so secretive at the time, but he kept saying it was very important."
"Look at the report here. 'The vault searched by the intruders had in fact been emptied earlier that day.' That's absolutely true! Vault 713! There was only a dirty little bag in it, and Hagrid took it. So it was completely empty, wasn't it?"
"cool!"
Ron whistled.
Then Harry seemed to remember something and looked eagerly at his two friends. "Um, Hagrid told me not to tell anyone else about this. You'll keep it a secret, right?"
"Absolutely confidential!" Ron slapped his chest hard and started coughing.
Hermione snorted, "I'm always tight-lipped!"
Well, that's what Harry told Hagrid.
So the next day, Vaughn knew...
"Magic stone……"
Vaughn went to the library and found a book introducing this alchemical artifact. Looking at the illustrations, he fell into deep thought.
Unlike reading fan fiction in my previous life, many people find it insignificant.
The more Vaughan studied magic, the more he realized how amazing the Philosopher's Stone was. It could reverse matter and do what even the most advanced transfiguration could not do - change the nature of matter and turn any metal into pure gold.
The elixir of life made from it is the only thing that is certain and has actual evidence of conquering death.
Nicolas Flamel and his wife Perenelle Flamel thus lived an extra 600 years...
Six whole centuries!
Is there anything more incredible in the magical world?
Of course, that kind of immortality seems to have side effects. Vaughn remembered watching "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" in his previous life, in which Flamel appeared.
A funny old man with severe osteoporosis.
"It's said that the Flamels are living in seclusion in Devonshire, where my family lives as well. Unfortunately, there's no more accurate location. Furthermore, given their caution, I'm afraid their hiding place has already been enchanted with something like the Fidelius Charm, making it impossible for others to find them."
"Otherwise, I really want to visit him and have a good chat."
Vaughan had never been exposed to alchemy, a more mysterious subject. There were books introducing it in the Hogwarts library, but Vaughan was confused by them.
There were long passages about "spiritual journeys" and descriptions of ethereal creations, and it looked like someone had written them while drunk.
Vaughn closed the book and was about to leave when the system panel popped up in front of him.
【New mission activated】
[Side Quest 1: Obtain the Magic Stone] [Reward: Alchemy Talent]
"..."
Vaughn was a little speechless. The tasks given by this system were becoming more and more excessive.
The Philosopher's Stone is now the focus of the Dark Lord and the White Lord, and he would be mad to attack it.
Ignoring the system panel, Vaughan returned the book, and seeing that it was getting late, he rushed to Professor Snape's office.
To be honest, Vaughan thought Snape had really bad taste.
The Potions classroom and the office are all located in the darkest place in Hogwarts Castle.
As soon as he stepped into the corridor, he felt the surroundings were gloomy. With such taste, how could he possibly compete with James Potter?
No girl would like him!
But when Vaughn opened the office door and saw the shelves full of medicinal herbs and the medicines piled on them...
Really fragrant!
It really smells good. Many people think that the ingredients of potions are weird and must smell bad, but after processing, most of them will have a unique fragrance.
Not to mention those bottles of potions placed in the medicine cabinet, reflecting the firelight from the fireplace, looking crystal clear!
Snape still had that poker face, standing in the corner like a ghost, looking at Vaughn coldly.
Only when Vaughan looked at the potion in fascination did he smile -
It was worth the two days of painstakingly selecting from his collection to fill up his new medicine cabinet!
That’s no easy task; it has to be precious, not look ostentatious, and have educational significance!
"Professor, you have a real treasure trove here!"
Vaughan was genuinely impressed.
Snape suddenly felt very happy, which reminded him of Friday night when he went to the headmaster's office and gave Dumbledore the "Scabies Potion" improved by Vaughan.
Dumbledore's surprised old face at that time made him very happy.
The savior is just so-so, but his evil classmate is a genuine Slytherin Potions genius!
"Vaughan Weasley," Snape said slowly. "You'll have plenty of time to visit later. Now, let me see what's so good about your method of extracting magical energy."
"Oh? You have a lot of time to visit? Professor, can I come to your place every weekend from now on?"
Vaughan clearly knows how to grasp the key points.
Snape did not answer, obviously agreeing. He stepped aside, revealing the crucible behind him, in which a potion was being brewed, which was the "Scabies Potion".
Obviously, today he wanted to observe Vaughan's entire cooking process.
Vaughn didn't care, he pulled out his wand and started to work.
After that, the only sounds in this gloomy basement were those of processing medicinal herbs, stirring them, and occasionally a conversation or two.
"Hmm - strange choice. How do you ensure the magic penetrates?"
"Familiarity with the materials, Professor, and perhaps a talent for Transfiguration. My magic can easily see inside them."
"Of course, if you are an ordinary wizard, you can also choose to practice a lot. Practice makes perfect."
“…Let me try.”
"Okay professor!"
