Chapter 24 Secret Agent
Just when the Iron Triangle was having a conflict, Vaughan was stopping Professor Snape.

"Professor, are you free this weekend? I have some questions I'd like to ask you."

Snape glanced at him out of the corner of his eye and said simply, "No time..."

But Vaughn seemed not to hear and continued respectfully, "Many potions have recipes that cannot be found on the market, and I have already mastered the basics. You have no idea how happy I was when I received the Hogwarts acceptance letter."

"Ever since I brewed my first blood tonic at the age of eight, I have been looking forward to becoming your student one day."

"..."

Snape swallowed back the words that were about to come out of his mouth. The corners of his mouth twitched a few times, as if he was trying to hide the fluctuations in his expression.

"Sunday," he said. "Evening. No waiting after the time!"

"Thank you very much, Professor. I will keep my appointment on time!"

Snape walked away quickly, and the loud sound of his leather shoes hitting the floor seemed much lighter than usual.

Vaughan was also very happy.

He needs fame points to improve his strength, and currently, potions play the biggest role in spreading his reputation. At least he has been deeply involved in this field for several years and has a theoretical foundation.

Next, as long as he can learn advanced potions and broaden his knowledge, he will be able to greatly enhance his understanding of potions and materials, optimize formulas, verify his own theories, and also consider developing new potions.

The "Vaughan Beauty" series is only suitable for making money and has exhausted its potential in terms of enhancing reputation.

Having received Snape's promise, Vaughan happily went to the Ravenclaw common room that night - the logic riddle posed by the bronze door did not seem difficult to him.

When he and Guo Guocha mixed a bunch of snacks from the seniors and were about to go for a walk in the Black Lake to digest the food, he saw Hermione sitting by the lake.

The wind started to blow at night, and ripples appeared on the water of the Black Lake under the night sky. A giant octopus was swimming in the lake, and in the distance, several Gryffindors seemed to be feeding it.

"I heard from Fred and George that the giant octopus is Gryffindor."

Hermione was staring at the Black Lake in a daze, and was startled when she suddenly heard someone talking.

She hurriedly wiped her face, and when she looked up, she saw Vaughn had come and sat down next to her, handing her a piece of chocolate: "Eat it, it will make you feel better."

Vaughan's pockets were bulging with candy.

Guoguocha was holding a piece of jerky in his mouth, shaking his head and playing at the feet of the two people.

Hermione knew that he must have just come out of Ravenclaw, where he and Guoguocha were very popular with the girls.

"Thanks……"

She whispered a thank you, then looked at the giant octopus in the lake and couldn't help but retort, "Gryffindor was a thousand years old. How could the thing he transformed still be alive? They must be talking nonsense."

As soon as the words came out of her mouth, Hermione felt a little annoyed.

Why can't I control my mouth? Do I have to be so serious at a time like this?

Do I really have a bad personality?

Vaughan noticed her abnormality, thought for a moment, and asked, "Did you have a conflict with Harry and Ron?"

"Uh...how do you know?"

"You don't usually come here to hang out. You're either in the library or on your way there." Vaughn smiled. "So far, you seem to only be on good terms with us. Apart from those two, I can't think of anyone else you could hide in here with."

Hermione was stunned. She hadn't noticed it before, but when she thought about it carefully, it seemed that she really had no friends.

Besides Vaughn, the only two who are still...

The girl, feeling increasingly depressed, pursed her lips.

After a moment's silence, she repeated what Ron had said about her behind her back.

After she finished speaking, she asked in a low voice, "Vaughn, am I really that annoying? I just... I just want everyone to follow the rules." She had expected to hear some comforting words, after all, Vaughn was always humorous, warm, and mischievous.

But she saw Vaughn nod: "A little bit!"

"..."

Vaughan patted her thin shoulders, facing the night wind, and looked into the distance:
"There is a country far from England where there is a proverb which means that honest advice is harsh on the ears."

"Of course, this isn't a problem with you or anyone else. It's human nature. People always like to avoid their mistakes. When someone constantly reminds them, they'll subconsciously rebel."

At this moment, Hermione looked up at him and suddenly found that he was full of an indescribable temperament.

Such words would have been very strange for him to say at such a young age.

It will appear that you are trying too hard to be mature.

But at this moment he was so natural, as if time had settled around him, making it difficult for people to notice the abnormality.

She said blankly: "But why have you never found me... annoying?"

“Because I like this kind of frankness!”

Hermione's cheeks flushed bright red under Vaughn's smiling eyes. Then she heard him say, "The more losses I've suffered, the more I understand how precious it is to have a friend like you. Ron is still very naive and doesn't understand this."

Hermione suddenly wanted to ask, why do you understand?
But for some reason, she felt that she might not get an answer.

There are always some things that people are reluctant to say to others.

She didn't know what to say for a moment.

The two sat quietly by the lake, enjoying the breeze, watching a giant squid swimming and stretching out its tentacles to overturn a small boat. The Gryffindor students on it screamed and fell into the water, then laughed.

"Hermione, for my sake, please forgive Ron and help me keep an eye on them."

Hermione heard Vaughan say.

She was a little confused: "What do you mean?"

Vaughn smiled at first, then said helplessly, "Harry's situation is quite complicated. Dumbledore seems to be testing him. I'm worried about Ron following him, but I have no reason to break up their friendship."

"So, I want you to keep an eye on them for me. If anything happens, make sure you let me know!"

Hermione was a little surprised. She heard the hidden meaning and lowered her voice: "You mean, Harry will be in danger at school?"

"It's not a danger, it's a test, but..."

Vaughan spread his hands and said, "No one can guarantee that everything is under control, not even Dumbledore."

Hermione's mind was a little confused, and she really wanted to find out what Vaughn knew.

But Vaughan had already stood up and left with the fruit tea, and gave her a few chocolates before leaving:

"That's it, go back and rest early Hermione."

Finally, he turned around, smiled, and said, "Keep it secret, my spy."

Hermione blushed again, completely forgetting what she wanted to ask.

Vaughn left with a calm expression. He had never considered following the Savior.

The goals he set for his Hogwarts study life were, first, to learn potions and spread his reputation, and second, to learn advanced magic and accumulate strength.

Having set such a goal, he didn't have the energy to pay attention to the savior's every move.
