Chapter 239 The Dementor's Kiss

Chapter 239 The Dementor's Kiss

After all the commotion in Azkaban had completely subsided, Kingsley reported the matter to the current head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement and, more importantly, the Minister for Magic.

For the current director, there was nothing to say. She immediately summoned all the Aurors, whether they were at home or in the Ministry of Magic, and sent them to Azkaban.

As for Minister Bagno, the recent series of major events has almost driven her to the brink of nervous exhaustion.

She really just wants to make the most of this last term and then go home to enjoy her retirement.

She really didn't want to hear anything, good or bad.

But in the last couple of days, the newspapers have inexplicably started publishing news that there are other hidden details about Sirius Black's crimes, and she's been having a headache about it lately.

The Ministry of Magic is only focused on arresting Black as soon as possible. Who cares whether he committed a crime or not? And if he is really innocent, wouldn't that make the Ministry of Magic seem even more useless?

Moreover, this incident gave Bagno a sense of familiarity, as if she had recently experienced something similar.

Just as she was exhausted and investigating who was trying to exonerate Sirius Black, something even more explosive happened in Azkaban that night.

Frankly, even if this group of Death Eaters had gathered together and openly stormed into Azkaban in an attempt to break out of the prison, Dumbledore would have discovered it in advance and arranged for them to be captured.

Whether this is a good thing or a bad thing is still uncertain for Minister Bagno.

Leaving aside the influence of powerful pure-blood families like Old Nott in the wizarding world, the fact that they dared to take such action at this time was enough to make many people realize that something was amiss.

If the mysterious figure hadn't returned, would these people really have dared to do this?
Bagno is certainly much better than Fudge, who will succeed her in the future. Since she dared to take over the messy Ministry of Magic when Voldemort's power was at its peak, she won't be like an ostrich, burying her head in the sand and pretending not to know anything when Voldemort really comes back.

Now, she could only think with a heavy heart that it was best if Dumbledore had made all the preparations.

The Ministry of Magic's internal operations kept the wizarding world's newspaper reporters up all night.

Azkaban and his companions were obviously not qualified to go up, so they could only keep trying to interview employees inside the Ministry of Magic in order to get first-hand information.

Before heading to Azkaban, Bagno intentionally instructed his men to spread rumors that the Death Eaters' recent large-scale operation was likely related to the missing mysterious figure.

Since the lid will eventually be lifted, reminding the public that the man who threatened the entire magical world has never truly left, it would be best to prepare the public beforehand.

Soon, Bagno saw the captured Death Eaters in Azkaban.

Even though the prison breakers were almost drained by the Dementors, they still insisted that they were under a Soul-Stealing Curse and had no intention of breaking into the prison at all.

Meanwhile, people like Bella kept shouting and cursing, saying that their master was coming back and would soon come to rescue them, and that the entire magical world would then become the domain of pure-bloods!
Bagno merely observed the reactions of these people for a while, and after confirming who exactly they were who had come to break into Azkaban, he turned and left from the lowest level of the dungeon.

“Those who participated in the prison break tonight will be taken off the island and put on trial in Wizengamo.”

Her voice was cold, and she sounded like she was in a bad mood.

"As for Bella and Lestrange, they've been sentenced to life imprisonment and still refuse to repent, and they still say they want to aid and abet evil. Let's start the approval process and let the Dementors give them a kiss."

Bagno's words silenced everyone around her.

After so many peaceful days, many people had almost forgotten that although the Minister of Magic had transformed from a passionate witch into a seasoned and mature politician, her decisiveness and ruthlessness towards the Death Eaters had never changed! At this moment, the sky began to lighten, and dawn was approaching.

Kingsley, who had been busy all night, also rushed over, covered in dust, to report the situation to Bagno.

Bagno didn't want to hear anything else; her brows furrowed, and she had only one question.

"Did Dumbledore hear these people say that the Man from Nowhere has returned, and that he learned that this prison break was also orchestrated by the Man from Nowhere, through his men?"

Kingsley hesitated for a moment, and Dumbledore did not say at the time that he intended to keep his words from anyone.

So he told Bagno the truth about what Dumbledore had said: that he would never have to worry about Voldemort again.

This clearly aroused Bagno, who stared intently at Kingsley.

"That's exactly what Dumbledore said!"

Kingsley wasn't the only one present to hear this; there were many other Aurors who could attest to it.

After confirming that it was true, Bagno became increasingly agitated. She was both excited and uncertain.

Most people in the wizarding world know Dumbledore's personality; he's usually a rather unreliable and mischievous old man, but he's always very serious when it comes to truly important matters.

To find out what really happened, she obviously had to go to Hogwarts and see Dumbledore in person.

With that in mind, Bagno couldn't stay in Azkaban for even a moment longer, since she had already made all the necessary arrangements here.

She quickly returned to England and then used Floo Powder to get to Hogwarts.

However, she was unable to find Dumbledore at Hogwarts!

The person who received her was Vice Principal McGonagall.

"Professor Dumbledore went out with Snape early this morning. He said he had to leave England to take care of some things and would not be back for a while."

This news drove Bagno absolutely mad!
How could someone just run away at such a crucial moment!
Did they say when they would be back?

McGonagall shook her head.

“I just confirmed with him that he would definitely be back before Halloween. However, before Professor Dumbledore left, he said that if you come looking for him, he would let me introduce you to a few people.”

Bagno couldn't help but look up.

"Meeting whom?"

McGonagall led her to an unused common room at Hogwarts. When she opened the door, she saw two men and a large, jet-black dog inside.
