Chapter 788 Returning to Headquarters

Peter and Gwen stayed on Earth 1616 for a few more days, mainly because there were some things that needed to be dealt with, especially the Jackal's secret base. It would be best to blow it up, although it would be a pity. But no matter which universe Peter Parker was from, it was unlikely that he would hand that thing over to the US government.

But figuring out how to bomb it without affecting the rest of New York City was a delicate art, and it took Peter two days of help to finally resolve the issue. And with the problem solved, it was time to leave.

"So, he really isn't going to be Spider-Man anymore?"

Before leaving, Gwen asked Ben Riley with great curiosity. He had dyed his hair blonde, had a hairstyle completely different from that of the chubby Peter, and was even planning to grow a beard.

And he was wearing a completely different Spider-Man suit, with an enormous spider icon on the chest and spider legs that almost covered most of his body. This was Ben Riley's Spider-Man suit. Before destroying the Jackal's base, he had completely perfected his genetic sequence using the equipment within the base, and now he could live like a normal person without worrying about his lifespan.

"Not really. He plans to find a job, lose weight, get back into training, and also go back to see MJ and learn how to be a father."

Ben Riley scratched his chin as he recounted the story, though he still found it strange that a clone like himself was saying such a thing: "Spider-Man will come back someday, but until then, this city still needs him."

"Perhaps at that time, this city will still be able to accommodate two Spider-Men."

Peter handed a hard drive to Ben Riley: "Some small gifts, you might find them useful. It's a pity we have to go, but the Jackals still have some trouble to deal with."

Jackal left behind two problems. One was the Green Goblin clone without the genetic defect. This guy escaped when the Sinister Sixteen raided the Daily Bugle building, and it's foreseeable how frequently Ben Riley will have to deal with him in the coming period.

Another point is that, according to the data in Jackal's computer, he once tried to create a Spider-Man clone, but the creation of that clone failed. After saying goodbye to Ben Riley, Peter and Gwen used the Multiverse Bracelet to return to base camp. Peter seemed lost in thought, and Gwen, noticing this, waved it in front of him: "What's wrong? Seeing you like this, something happened?"

In the multiverse, Sasla and her successor suddenly fell into a deathly silence for some unknown reason, and no other information was found. In universe 616, still no news came, as if nothing had happened to Mephisto either.

Before this bizarre situation could be resolved, a new problem arose—an ultimate Spider-Man appeared on Earth 1616, facilitating Jackal's transformation and providing him with substantial funding from Spider-Man villains. All of this proves that he is not fighting alone.

Even a small team of only two or three people would be quite troublesome given their current technical capabilities.

While Peter was pondering, the portal was completed, sending them back to base camp. Upon landing, Peter discovered that everyone else was gone; Miguel and his senior were nowhere to be found.

Cindy, on the other hand, arrived very quickly, most likely because she knew Peter had returned and rushed over. Peter was very happy to see Cindy come.

"Are you alright, Cindy?"

"I'm fine now, much better. Thank you for your concern."

"It's good that you're alright. By the way, where's Miguel? Where is he?"

Cindy actually knew where Miguel was. After telling Peter, she watched him leave in a hurry, leaving only Cindy and Gwen standing there. They looked at each other in silence for a while before Cindy took the initiative to ask, "Can you tell me what you encountered this time?"

"Okay!"

Meanwhile, Peter successfully found Miguel, who was repairing the power supply at the energy hub with several other Spider-Men. Miguel seemed to take some time to confirm which universe Peter came from before standing up: "I won't ask you why you're so late. To be honest, I've found myself getting used to hearing that you've gotten into trouble again."

"This time it's a little different. The good news is that I recruited two new people to join me. The bad news is that in the process, I encountered a Spider-Man organization on a multiverse level. This organization is neither our League nor the Spider-Legion."

Miguel looked at Peter with an incredulous expression, as if to say, "What nonsense are you talking about?"

So Peter recounted everything to Miguel. When Miguel heard what Peter said about Ultimate Spider-Man, he looked at Peter with a serious expression and asked, "What do you think Ultimate Spider-Man's purpose is?"

"I don't know his deeper purpose, but I know some of his current objectives."

Based on the comics Peter had read before and the current analysis, it's highly likely that he knew what the other party was planning to do.

Simply put, what the ultimate Spider-Man wants most is for anti-hero Spider-Men who don't have a no-kill policy but haven't fallen so low as to become servants of the Web Gods to join his team.

"But this time, the Ultimate Spider-Man's actions have clearly crossed the line, even actively creating monsters and enemies."

Miguel shook his head, but Peter continued, "Speaking of which, do you have any suitable universes that need our help? I think maybe we'll come across a similar universe and then have a head-on confrontation with these guys."

Miguel didn't react for a moment. After a while, he opened a map of the entire multiverse and looked at Peter.

"There is indeed a universe; you can give it a try."
