Chapter 786 You're Fighting a Ghost

Chapter 786 You're Fighting a Ghost

Peter knew exactly where the jackals were—they were in this area too.

The amount of electricity required for large-scale cloning is enormous. If someone is capable of conducting an investigation, it would be easy to locate the jackal in this world where there are no high-tech companies other than Osborn Technology, simply by tracking its electricity consumption. Moreover, it is highly likely that the jackal is stealing or leaking electricity.

Peter found only one location with a concentrated mass of electric current. And the jackal in the lab above, based on calculations using the nanosuit and other equipment, is undoubtedly a fake. Therefore, the real jackal must be hiding somewhere in this area.

"And you think he's hiding deep underground? So we have to keep running down this elevator shaft that we can't see the end of?"

Peter and Gwen were both climbing down the elevator shaft when Peter shared some of his experience: "Well... it's mainly a matter of experience. I've encountered two villains who can clone, one is Mr. Ominous and the other is Doctor Octopus. Without exception, they both like to dig places underground to conduct experiments, so I think Jackal will most likely make the same choice. I hope I'm not wrong."

"Alright, then if we find the jackal later, hand it over to me?"

"Of course, I guess I can only leave it to you, Gwen."

Peter's statement was certainly based on evidence. Last time, on Earth-65, Gwen was deeply involved in the final battle against Spider-Gwen without triggering any web-related events. Her abilities were enough to make her forgotten by the entire world, and since she was forgotten by the world, she naturally wouldn't cause any problems.

Since that's the case, in order to avoid triggering the Spider Web incident, Peter naturally had to fully support Gwen in personally going up and beating up the other side. Gwen was also quite looking forward to giving the jackal, that pervert, a good beating. The two of them quickly descended into the elevator shaft and soon arrived at a deeper level. After seeing another entrance in the elevator shaft, they looked at each other.

Peter then used a nanobot to open the elevator door, and the two immediately stepped inside. Once inside the deep underground laboratory, Gwen couldn't help but exclaim in amazement.

It wasn't that she was uncultured, but the scene here was far more spectacular than any of the sinister six, sixteen, or sixty groups.

The white metal corridor was lined with four rows of containers, each containing clones that were not yet activated but were fully equipped. Almost all of them were Spider-Man's villains. The Sinister Sixteen were stacked in rows of four, and just one glance was enough to tell that there were over a hundred of them.

“I’m worried this is Jackal’s real killing move, not the Sinister 60, but the Sinister 666.” Peter muttered, then walked to the side of a cloning pod, looking utterly bewildered. “But cloning is one thing, but where did he find all this clone villain equipment? It looks incredibly sophisticated, and there are dozens of Venoms. Where did he get so much Venom? Is Venom in this universe sold wholesale?”

Venom from different universes does indeed have different origins, but it's really rare to be able to buy so much at once. Peter, who was passing through the wall of villains, was utterly confused. Where did Jackal get so much money to acquire so much equipment?

“Gwen, don’t kill him… It seems there are many things we don’t know about this Mr. Jackal.”

Peter hacked into the system as he spoke, and as the automatic door opened, another laboratory appeared before them. Gwen felt nauseous at the sight, because this time, the glass enclosures on either side of the wall contained Gwen Stacy and Spider-Man's clones, respectively. "I'm going to beat him up, absolutely."

"Ah, welcome, Spider-Man from another world."

Sitting in front of the computer, Jackal, who was watching his clone and the two Spider-Men from this universe constantly fighting, stood up. He seemed completely unsurprised by Peter's origins: "I was curious before why two useless guys from our universe could deal with these clones and find my hiding place. Now I understand. It turns out it was because you were helping me."

"But I still admire your courage. You actually dared to appear in front of me alone. It seems you're far too confident in your abilities." Jackal said, raising his hand. "Come on, Spider-Man from another world, let's see if you can handle my treacherous 666 team... Ouch!"

Before Jackal could even give the order, he seemed to have twisted his ankle and fell to the ground. Peter looked at him, not daring to let his guard down, and complained, "This really is the 'Sinister 666' group. You're really boring. Spider-Man doesn't have that many villains. I doubt you could even put together a group of 60."

"Don't laugh at me, Spider-Man! I'll be able to take you down in no time..."

The jackal, who was trying to stand up while holding onto the wall, suddenly slipped and fell hard to the ground, bruising himself and losing several teeth. Peter, hands on his hips, looked around curiously, but nothing seemed amiss, so he asked with concern, "Sorry, but you don't look well. Did your legs go numb from sitting for too long?"

"Fuck you..."

Before the jackal could fully get up, he slipped again and fell face-first to the ground. Then, seemingly because of the noise, a toolbox on a nearby cabinet fell down and hit him on the head. The jackal staggered to his feet, but before he could utter another curse, he stepped on a flashlight that had rolled out of the toolbox, slipped again, and fell to the ground.

His face slammed onto the table, looking horribly injured, covered in blood, and he collapsed unconscious on the spot. Peter curiously approached, wondering if the jackal had wandered onto the set of some comedy animation.

"Alright, that's it. I didn't kill him; he just passed out on his own."

Gwen suddenly appeared next to Peter, clapped her hands, and only then did Peter realize what had just happened. The jackal seemed to have completely ignored Gwen as she gave him a sound beating, without him reacting at all.

"Your ability is truly outrageous..."

Peter muttered something as he stepped forward and checked it with Anti-Venom, then nodded in satisfaction: "Good, this is the original, not a clone."
