Chapter 767 Your Friendly Neighbor Spider-Man
Chapter 767 Your Friendly Neighbor Spider-Man
"A Spider-Man with a magical origin..."
Even Miguel was confused by this question. His first thought was Spider-Man Noir, but after hearing Peter talk about Strange, he realized that Peter was mainly talking about "Strange and Spider-Man with related origins." He was then surprised to find that there was actually no related news at all.
"You mean... first find a Spider-Man with a similar origin story, then look for his counterpart. And this origin story needs to include the Sorcerer Supreme himself, which will make it easier to help you investigate related events..."
Miguel pondered for a moment, then pulled out a list. As the list unfolded, Miguel discovered a truly serious problem: they had explored so many universes, but in reality, there wasn't a single Spider-Man with a spider mutation in the entire Alliance, let alone any sorcerer Spider-Man.
If we don't count that half-baked mage from 616.
So Miguel started working on the computer, and Gwen curiously leaned over to Peter and asked, "What are you doing?"
“I guess he’s probably searching for information, looking for records of Spider-Man and Strange appearing at the same time in the known Spider-Man information, to find similar universes.” Peter said, stroking his chin. He really did know of such a universe, which was the universe of the animated series “Your Friendly Neighbor Spider-Man”. The reason Peter Parker became Spider-Man in that series was because of the time loop that Strange started.
The problem is, he doesn't know the number of this universe, but he remembers some details.
"I have a few keywords from my dream that might help you. They are something like... the destroyed Midtown High School, and Strange was present during that battle."
The other three people who heard this looked at Peter. The reason was simple: four out of the five people present were students from Midtown Middle School. Jessica, upon hearing this, couldn't help but sigh, "Should I feel fortunate that nothing bad has happened at our school so far?"
Cindy looked at Jessica, who was a little confused, while Gwen chimed in, "Didn't Harry get kidnapped once? And he even smashed up a wall."
"That only damaged one wall, didn't it? It wasn't even a load-bearing wall."
"Why do I get the feeling that you're not entirely satisfied with this, senior?"
Jessica shrugged and replied to Gwen, "Come on, that's a school! Don't you guys want the school to get blown up once?"
Upon hearing this, everyone was momentarily speechless. Then Cindy seemed to remember something and added, "If the school blew up, they probably wouldn't refund the tuition..."
"You speak so calmly, Mu En."
"Found it, Earth-86445, a divergent universe of Earth-199999. The divergence occurred in 2016, when Midtown High School was destroyed due to the battle between Spider-Man and Strange at Osborn Technologies... What kind of nonsense is this? How could Midtown High School be destroyed because of the battle at Osborn Technologies? Was New York nuclearly bombed?"
Miguel was completely baffled. Peter shrugged: "It's probably because Strange accidentally opened a portal, causing the battle to take place at Midtown High School." "But this isn't the origin story; it's just two people fighting side-by-side."
Miguel's supercomputer isn't a god; it can't cover all universes. All it does is collect information from the universes that the Spider Alliance investigators have passed through and gathered information from.
Not every Spider-Man can be invited to join the Spider-League. To prevent inexperienced Spider-Men from knowing things in advance and missing out on growth, and to guard against the possibility of web-related incidents, Miguel is quite cautious about other Spider-Men joining the League.
One of the known triggering conditions for the Spider-Man event is that "a Spider-Man from another universe dominates the Spider-Man event in this universe." In other words, a Spider-Man from another universe takes the place of the Spider-Man from this universe in the event, thus triggering a chain reaction. The rookie Spider-Man is the one who is most likely to confuse the line between "helping" and "intervening."
Of course, the patriarch is an exception. He beat up the symbiote Spider-Man in the Shadow Web universe and then removed the symbiote, and nothing happened. The Web of Fate treats all Spider-Men equally, but some are always more equal.
"Wait, I see. Peter Parker became Spider-Man the day Midtown High School was destroyed, and then he accepted Norman Osborn's sponsorship, and his blood was extracted to create a mutant spider. Later, Osborn tried to open a portal to the universe, but accidentally opened it to Klinta... Strange came to help and fought alongside Spider-Man, but accidentally opened a portal to the past."
So, the mutated spider created from Peter Parker's blood traveled back in time through a portal, bit Peter Parker on his way to school, and made him the Spider-Man of this universe.
This origin story contains elements of chance, magic, and causal cycles, but it also incorporates technological elements. Miguel isn't entirely sure if this universe meets the requirements, but they'll soon find out.
"If someone intends to prevent all of this from happening, they can choose to act from two angles at the same time: one is to prevent Peter Parker in this universe from being bitten in the past, and the other is to go to the future to prevent Strange from opening the portal."
As Miguel spoke, he looked at Peter and the others: "In other words, if the four of you are planning to investigate without seeking help from more people, then you'll have to split into two groups."
Peter thought for a moment, then shook his head. He didn't need that many people; the more people there were, the more likely it was to trigger the Spider Web event. Then Peter looked at his teammates: "Okay, everyone heard we're splitting up. I'm going to the future to see if Strange and the others encounter any enemies. After all, Miguel mentioned that almost all the relevant Sorcerers Supreme have been killed. So, who's coming with me…?"
Peter watched as Cindy and Gwen jumped to his side almost simultaneously, then he looked at Jessica, who had a "don't worry about me" smile on her face: "Then I'll go over there, haha, good luck with your mission."
Miguel added, "I'll go along, just in case. We don't know who our enemy is yet."
Miguel began adjusting his watch: “We can enter any point in time in this universe according to the law of time sliding, not relative to the present. But please remember that our intervention may cause divergence in the multiverse at any time. If this happens, the watch will ring. At that time, no matter what happens, do not continue to act.”
To make up for the update from the day before yesterday
