Chapter 747 A peaceful day in New York
Chapter 747 A Peaceful Day Returns to New York
The next morning, Peter looked at the bloodstone pendant on his hand and fell into thought. He had originally planned to give it to Strange, but he forgot. He got back a little late that morning and fell asleep. When he went to find Strange in the morning, Strange was very surprised to find that he had confiscated it.
Peter still doesn't know why Strange didn't accept the Bloodstone, but instead entrusted it to him for safekeeping. And as always, Strange maintained his mystical style: he wouldn't tell Peter what the thing was for.
As far as Peter knew, Bloodstone was a magical artifact that had to be cultivated by tearing apart half of a person's soul while they were alive. It was the best material for casting dark magic and the best source of mana for necromancy.
But the problem is, he can't use necromancy or dark magic, so what's the point of giving him that?
After thinking for a while, Peter put away the pendant and looked around. He had arrived early today, and as usual, there weren't many classmates around. Amadeus had also arrived surprisingly early. Peter asked curiously, "Has anything happened in Greece lately?"
“No, that’s why I’ve been coming early lately. Peter, do you think it’s necessary to conduct four-dimensional topological experiments on the polymer materials in the Baxter Building? If so…”
"...I didn't participate in that experiment."
Peter sighed as he spoke. He had gone to Baxter Tower as an intern solely for the purpose of multiverse travel, but now it seemed that multiverse travel no longer needed him, and the Web of Fate had not called upon him recently.
New York is so peaceful. There are no supervillains on the streets. Although we know someone is up to something, there's no clue. Everyone's just watching.
He started to think about whether he should do something else, since New York was becoming safer and safer.
Then he and Amadeus saw Harry stumble in, looking haggard, disheveled, and pale. They were startled and immediately asked, "What happened? Were you beaten or robbed?"
"what?"
Faced with this situation, Amadeus offered another speculation: "You and Liz went to the hotel?"
"what?!"
Harry shouted "What?" so loudly that all the students around him turned to look. He sighed helplessly, scratching his head. "Wait, guys, what are you all talking about..."
"Why don't you take a look at yourself through the window?"
Amadeus's words brought Harry to his senses. He looked out the window, realized his predicament, and laughed, "Oh, uh, it's nothing. I was just playing games at home. Don't you guys play games? It came out last month, 'Three People and a Dog!' That game, 'Game 5'!"
Peter remembered that the game did indeed come out last month (September), but unfortunately, the hero didn't have time to play games, whether it was the old man's scrolling bar or the three people and one dog.
The good news is that even if he didn't have time to play, he had still played the game and knew exactly what it was like.
Amadeus bluntly stated, "The Osborn's son is addicted to video games. People in your circle would probably find that strange." "First of all, I'm not one of those people. My dad's just a nouveau riche in their eyes, okay?" Harry rolled his eyes at Amadeus. "Besides, I'm already attending Midtown High School, which already shows I'm not going to fit in with them. Most rich kids go to private schools, not here—of course, I don't mean Midtown High School is bad."
Midtown Middle School is already one of the few public high schools in New York known for its test-taking prowess. At least the teachers at Midtown will grade papers carefully, create questions, and tell you if you got your math questions wrong, instead of yelling "You're a genius!" when you can't even do multiplication within ten digits correctly.
Perhaps thanks to the fact that the president of the Democratic Party is Matthew Ellis, rather than the Black Pharaoh from another timeline, happy education is not prevalent. Although the level of education is still declining, at least it is not so fast.
Harry was also adding to the benefits of playing video games.
"Secondly, being a gamer is actually pretty good, even has its advantages, brothers. You know what? Ever since I was kidnapped and my identity was exposed, a lot of gangs have come to me, hoping I'll join them, and many people want me to throw parties at their homes."
"But as soon as I proved that I was a bookworm and a gamer, they immediately scattered like birds!"
Peter and Amadeus were speechless for a moment, not knowing why Harry thought this was a good thing. They shook their heads in unison.
Then Peter realized something was wrong: Cindy hadn't come to school yet, so he sent her a message asking if something had happened at S.H.I.E.L.D. or something else. But she didn't reply immediately.
"Hmm... S.H.I.E.L.D. probably really has a mission, although I don't think I've ever seen Fury assign Cindy any missions. On the contrary, my senior is taking leave every now and then."
Peter watched the teacher walk in with a grumbling expression, then the bell rang, and everyone started class as usual. The course wasn't too difficult for him, as always, so he spent a while longer before his mind started wandering.
Generally, unless there's an alarm indicating what's happening in New York, Peter will continue to daydream, occasionally being called upon by his teacher, and then immediately answering questions based on his spider-sense and extraordinary memory, recalling the sounds he just heard.
But a sound interrupted his wandering. It wasn't anything serious, just the snoring of some young master who had been playing games all night, now asleep on the table. Peter couldn't help but glance back, then turned back, wrote a note, and tossed it to Amadeus.
The meaning is simple: Harry can sleep, but please stop snoring, or the whole class will hear it immediately.
Amadeus understood this, so he shook Harry awake. Harry, thinking the teacher was calling on him to answer a question, immediately stood up and looked at the blackboard: "Mr. Christopher, this question..."
The classroom was instantly filled with a cheerful atmosphere, and the laughter left Harry completely bewildered. Only after the laughter subsided did the teacher sigh helplessly, "Mr. Lyman, I didn't call on you to answer a question."
"Oh? Really? Oh, okay."
Harry sat down dejectedly amidst the laughter and chatter, while Peter glanced at his phone and noticed that Cindy still hadn't replied to his message. Instead, a number he recognized as Fury's sent him a message.
Cindy is sick.
