I'm working on Marvel's Spider-Man in American comics.
Chapter 65 Okay, let's go through it one more time.
Chapter 65 Okay, let's go through it again.
You said you're leaving today?
Tony Stark, upon hearing the news aboard Avengers Tower, was quite surprised, his coffee cup hovering motionless in mid-air: "This is a historic moment."
“I know, Mr. Stark, but the Avengers press conference…”
"Who said the Avengers press conference? I meant you're going to travel through the multiverse, which is a first for all of humanity."
Tony Stark rubbed his temples, looking at the reporters pouring into Avengers Tower: "I'll call Reed right away and have him get ready. Use this time to come to Avengers Tower and show your face to everyone, then we'll go to Baxter Tower together. Tell your girlfriend to get ready at Baxter Tower beforehand."
"Spider Silk isn't my girlfriend—"
“Okay.” Tony wasn’t in the mood to waste time on this. “Tell that girl who’s not your girlfriend yet to get ready, you have her number, right?”
Tony Stark felt that Peter Parker's three seconds of silence were especially long, so long that his knuckles were practically tapping out the rhythm of the Fifth Symphony on the table. But he finally got the answer "Yes," and excitedly clenched his fist and shouted "Yes!"
"I have to go to the press conference, hurry up and come over."
A few minutes later, while Captain America was giving a speech on stage, saying something like, "We firmly believe that the Avengers will be a borderless volunteer organization that fights for justice and freedom..." Spider-Man finally took the elevator down from the Avengers' rooftop.
"Can I discuss something with you? I don't want to reveal my identity here."
“Of course.” Tony Stark had no time to focus on the press conference and immediately agreed to Peter’s request, but Peter hadn’t spoken yet: “But what if the reporters ask questions later…”
“Forget about those reporters.” Tony interrupted him impatiently. “I’ll go up now, then you show your face, and then we’ll say we have a special mission and leave immediately, leaving everything to the captain, okay?”
Seeing Spider-Man nod, Tony smiled and then walked confidently to the front of the stage. Captain America had just finished explaining the significance of Black Panther joining the Avengers when he saw Tony come on stage, so he handed over the microphone.
"I'm delighted that the Avengers will be welcoming two members today, instead of just one. Let's welcome Spider-Man."
Tony skipped even joking with reporters, abandoning his usual style. He waved and Spider-Man jogged to the center of the press conference, acting completely unlike the real thing.
Peter simply nodded to the reporters, about to say something in his opening remarks, when Tony cleanly interrupted him. With a wave of his hand, the silver Centurion armor, now fully repaired, landed on him and began to be assembled: "Unfortunately, Spider-Man and I have an urgent mission today. All questions from now on will be answered by our Avengers leader, Steve Rogers. Come here, kid."
As Iron Man flew away swiftly with Spider-Man, the reporters were completely bewildered; this was truly the most bizarre press conference they had ever attended.
The first reporter began asking questions to the team leader, who had come back onto the stage.
"Excuse me, who exactly is Spider-Man?"
Regardless of the fact that he hadn't been notified in advance and was already in a real bind, Tony, after confirming Peter's physical strength, took him directly to Baxter at supersonic speed. After landing on the rooftop, they immediately took the elevator to the Fantastic Four's laboratory.
At this moment, Banner was still explaining to Ben Grimm, the Thing, how he had turned back into his original form.
"Hulk was furious after seeing Mysterio, and he knew that the angrier he was, the less likely he was to punch Mysterio, so he simply fell asleep, and I came back."
"Haha, no need to see that big oaf, he's actually quite nice."
Just as they were talking, Iron Man and Spider-Man arrived. Tony shouted almost as soon as he came in, "Hank, Reed, are you done yet?"
“I’m done.” Reehank Pym, wearing a white lab coat over his Ant-Man suit, walked over, took out two bracelets, and put them on Peter’s wrist. “Consider this my gift to you for joining the Avengers, Peter. I originally prepared these for exploring the Quantum Realm, but they should also be effective for detecting data from the multiverse. I’m not entirely sure.”
“I can start here too.” Noodles, oh no, Mr. Fantastic, while staring at the big screen with his head, shifted his body to the other side, operating another data device: “I’m sorry I didn’t go out to help you deal with Mysterio yesterday morning. I was busy debugging the multiverse shuttle. Actually, all Susan needs to do is spread the force field across Manhattan to disable all of Mysterio’s equipment.”
Tony looked around: "Where's Susan? She's nowhere to be seen again?"
“She went to take care of little Valya, our newborn daughter,” Reed said, then leaned closer to Peter. “What do you think, kid?”
"I've felt it since last night, and it was strongest just now, but now it seems to be... weakening."
So the four scientists present, including Reed who had originally said he was going to adjust the equipment a little more, immediately shouted in unison: "Hurry up!" "Quick, stand in front of the shuttle and open the portal to the multiverse."
Reed excitedly moved his hand in front of the shuttle, but to Peter it was just a white flat surface with a groove carved out and a ring placed on it.
Peter jumped to the circle. He didn't really know how to open the door to the multiverse; he just reached out his hand based on intuition.
It felt like touching a wall.
He suddenly realized that he could actually travel through the multiverse at any time, ever since he was bitten by that spider. It was just that before the web of fate called him, he had no way of controlling where he went, nor did he know how to return.
The call of the web of fate essentially provided him with a coordinate.
He tore open that "wall," and an irregular spatial rift filled with all colors appeared before him.
He looked at everyone. Reed Richards' eyes were bulging out, looking like telescopes, which was quite terrifying. Tony opened his armor's visor and smiled at him. Hank was holding a detection device and muttering to himself. Even Bruce Banner was rapidly typing on a computer.
Everyone had the same opinion: Why aren't you going in yet?
"So... I'll set off?"
"GO! GO! GO!!!"
Feeling everyone's shouts, Peter finally looked at Cindy, who had been silent the whole time. Perhaps because they were all strangers, she also pulled up her face mask to cover half of her face. When she saw Peter's gaze, she simply nodded.
Peter took a step forward and was swallowed by the spatial rift.
All the observation instruments in the laboratory began to operate at full speed.
"I heard Spider-Man is here, and I want to apologize to him..."
The Thunderbolt flew in and saw everyone busy, no one paying attention to his situation.
"Okay... I'll come back later."
-
"Okay, let's do this again."
In the afternoon sunlight of New York, the towering skyscrapers streamed into the streets. A street cleaner, sweeping the streets, suddenly felt a shadow cast overhead. He looked up, adjusted his hat, and muttered, "What the hell—"
"My name is Peter Parker, and I was bitten by a radioactive spider."
Men in red and blue uniforms swayed in the New York sky on spiderwebs, protecting their city.
"For the past ten years, I have been unique and unparalleled, Spider-Man. You all know what happened next."
Uncle Ben's last words, "With great power comes great responsibility," and his love affair with Mary Jane, including the most classic upside-down kiss, saved the city time and time again, even stopping a high-speed subway train speeding toward a broken viaduct.
Of course, let's not forget that he once danced the bully dance in the streets, had his own theme song, released a Christmas song, endorsed a brand of oatmeal, and also had a mediocre co-branded ice cream.
“I have experienced many bad times, ups and downs, and been knocked down time and time again, but I always manage to get back up and move forward.”
"I still really enjoy being Spider-Man. Who wouldn't?"
Spider-Man landed beside the dripping stone beast of the Empire State Building, supporting it as he looked at the building he had protected countless times, filled with emotion.
"After all, the only pillar that saved this city from falling was me."
Welcome to Earth 700, a universe with only Spider-Man as a superhero.
