I'm working on Marvel's Spider-Man in American comics.

Chapter 51 Rest and Recuperation Phase

Chapter 51 Rest and Recuperation Phase
Kingpin, who was signing a contract, looked up at his good friend Aaron Davis after hearing this outrageous news and asked incredulously, "Are you serious?"

“That’s what they say: Quentin finished that half-finished fish tank, then his personality changed drastically, and he said he wanted to kill Spider-Man himself.” Aaron also found it unbelievable, but it was true: “I think he was planning to avenge the chameleon, after all, he and the chameleon were on good terms.”

This made Kingpin even more confused.

"Are they on good terms?"

"Actually, he's just average, but considering he's timid and insecure, and only Chameleon said a few nice things to him, I think maybe so." Aaron said, then asked, "Do we need to meet him?"

“Send him to Octavia’s lab; a fish tank alone can’t take down Spider-Man.”

A few minutes later, Kingpin saw Otto Octavia marveling at Baker Quentin—Quentin had somehow acquired a full suit of green armor and was wearing that giant fishbowl-like projector on his head. Kingpin remembered that the thing was supposed to be transparent, but now he couldn't see Quentin's face.

“Ah, Mr. Kingpin.” Otto, as always, was reluctant to call Fisker by name. “I chatted with Mr. Baker for a while. Although he is not an expert in the field of optics, he is very knowledgeable about the relevant knowledge. He is a rare and intelligent man.”

"I have completed a complete upgrade of the light particle projector, which is no longer limited by any venue and can also analyze invisible light. I can control all images within a 500-meter range, make people disappear, or make them see things that they find incredible."

Then, Mysterio uttered the most arrogant statement he made since being kidnapped by Kingpin and forced to work here.

“Mr. Fisk, first of all, I demand a raise. I want my weekly wage increased from $300 to $500.”

Kingpin remained silent for a long time, then looked at Aaron, who also remained silent for a long time. Kingpin sighed wearily and instructed the assistant who had come with him, "Raise Mr. Baker's weekly wage to five thousand dollars, thank you."

Otto Octavia was confused.

"You only give him three hundred yuan a week?"

"It started at a thousand, but he seemed scared." Aaron explained for his boss: "He kept telling our people that it would only be five hundred, and then it dropped to three hundred."

"Do you have any other requests, Mr. Quentin?"

“I need a sturdy suit of armor to defend against Spider-Man’s attacks, and a swarm of drones that can operate in sync with my brainwaves—without these, I can’t defeat Spider-Man. I’m going to teach this guy a lesson for Mr. Dimitri.”

It really was all because of the chameleon… Kingpin, completely unable to comprehend Mysterio's thought process, also picked up on another troublesome detail: Mysterio didn't intend to kill Spider-Man; he just wanted to save face for the chameleon. After all, Spider-Man had only given the chameleon a beating, not killed him.

"Fine, we can use them as punching bags." Kingpin nodded helplessly, then looked at Mysterio: "So, Mr. Quentin, can you show us what you can do?"

Kingpin heard the snap of his fingers. In an instant, the ground beneath his feet changed, and everyone suddenly appeared on the rooftop of a skyscraper, while Mysterio stood in mid-air. Kingpin looked down, and according to Quentin's previous explanations, what he saw was nothing but an illusion.

However, no matter how you look at it, the bustling traffic below looks exactly the same, except... there's no sound at all.

"With enough equipment, I can simulate the corresponding auditory, olfactory, and even skin sensations, Mr. Fisker."

In that instant, Kingpin felt himself growing larger and everyone else shrinking. In the end, everyone became like ants. Mysterio looked up at him and said, "Just a little bit of help is all it takes."

Kingpin laughed. He enjoyed the flattery. Everyone else seemed so insignificant, even Mysterio himself, while Kingpin was incredibly tall.

“I will prepare everything you need, Mr. Quentin. You will get everything you want, as long as you solve Spider-Man for me.”

Africa, Wakanda.

After three days, the Avengers finally completed their mission to capture vibranium smuggler Ulysses Klaue. However, the entire plan inevitably became entangled in Wakanda's internal affairs: the leader of the White Ape tribe, supported by Ulysses Klaue's funds and equipment, assassinated the former king T'Chaka and launched a civil war. In return, Klaue would gain the right to mine vibranium in the entire White Ape tribe's controlled territory.

The Avengers also fought a battle with T'Challa, the Black Panther who was also there to hunt down Ulysses.

But that's not the most awkward part. The most awkward part is that T'Challa didn't trust these American superheroes at all, but it turned out that his trust was justified, because the real financial backer behind Klaue was the CIA, and most of the vibranium that Klaue smuggled ended up in the pockets of the US military.

Captain America, with a grim face, beat up all the CIA informants and agents and handed them over to T'Challa. In return, T'Challa handed Ulysses Klaue over to the Avengers, but cut off his arm according to Wakanda's laws and announced to the nation that the Avengers were Wakanda's good friends.

“When I woke up, I heard that Jim (the original Human Torch) was dead, James (Wolverine) had amnesia, and we had become enemies with our former comrades. I’ve asked myself more than once if the price we paid for winning the war was too heavy.” Steve sighed, unusually holding a bottle of vodka. “And now you’re telling me we’ve become fascists, huh? To plunder other countries’ mineral resources? I’m starting to doubt whether we’ve really won.”

“I think you have too idealistic a view of America, Captain,” Tony joked, trying to comfort the Captain. “America has always been the unjust side—except for those years during World War II. You just happened to live in a time when America was righteous, and then you ‘died’ before it turned evil. Welcome back to the real America.”

“I really miss the wartime days when we all knew the Germans were the evil enemy, Hydra was the bad guys, and we fought for justice and freedom without any objections. Unlike now, I fought fascism my whole life, and now I'm saying I'm a fascist myself.”

The Hulk, resting his chin on his hand, crouched inside the plane and tapped Captain America's shoulder with his finger. Captain America simply said, "I'm fine."

"The good news is that T'Challa is willing to join the Avengers, isn't that great?" Hornet delivered a rare piece of good news, while Tony pulled up the records from Avengers Tower: "Jarvis, tell me what's been going on in New York these past few days. What's happened to our friendly neighbor?"

"Hmm, everything's normal. That kid did a good job... What do you mean by Nick Fury coming to Avengers Tower to poach people?"
