Chapter 104 The Wrath of the Spider
Chapter 104 The Wrath of the Spider
McDonald Gagan's rage stems from the actions of two Spider-Men, which resulted in him being shot in the spine by his own bullet, leaving him paralyzed for life. To exact revenge and regain his footing, he is forced to undergo a transformation, becoming a monster with a scorpion tail.
He believed it was Spider-Man and the silk's fault, so he wanted to vent his anger.
As for Spider-Man...
His anger was crystal clear.
With a roar and brute force, he tore the scorpion's gold-titanium alloy helmet in two, threw it aside, and then kicked the scorpion away.
Tony Stark, who witnessed this from a distance, couldn't help but make a sarcastic remark.
“That kid doesn’t need us at all, except for a ride.”
The Avengers' main objective here is to seal off several surrounding communities, thereby preventing Cindy's identity from being revealed to the media and others. As for Scorpion, it was something Peter was tasked with dealing with from the beginning.
The captain looked at the tablet in his hand; he knew very well what Peter's current state was.
Spider-Man is venting his anger.
The scorpion's tail, still lying on the ground, continued to transform, turning into an incredibly sharp blade that began to sweep across a wide area. He believed Spider-Man couldn't have appeared beside him so silently. Spider-Man must have simply become invisible again; otherwise, why would he have torn off his helmet?
His tail fired bullets to cover the surroundings while sweeping everything away with his sharp blades, while the scorpion himself stood up and surveyed his surroundings.
Suddenly, he sensed an unprecedented danger, but it was too late. His knee was stomped hard from behind, causing Scorpion to fall to his knees uncontrollably. Spider-Man appeared behind him somehow and violently tore his arm armor in half, throwing it to the ground.
Don't push your luck!
Using strength and speed greater than Spider-Man's, Scorpion swung a powerful punch, but he missed everything. Spider-Man hadn't just become invisible; he seemed to have vanished completely.
Peter Parker has indeed disappeared.
He was tearing away not only the scorpion's armor, but also the barrier of reality. In that instant, as he tore off a part of the scorpion's armor, he moved into the web of fate between the multiverses, then quickly returned to his own universe to launch another attack on the scorpion—this was essentially teleportation. The only difference was that Peter could almost only return to the position he left behind, with the distance of the shift being at most a few meters.
But that was enough to defeat the scorpion.
"what!"
The scorpion missed again.
The scorpion is a spider-prey, and its genes are far more powerful than those of spiders, Otto Octavia said. But the reality is hard for the scorpion to accept. It has paid such a high price, it almost captured the hostage, it had the girl named Cindy by the neck, and it could have snapped her neck back then.
Why can't we even hit Spider-Man now?!
His tail constantly shifted shape amidst his chaotic thoughts: electromagnet, turret, blade, acid sprayer. In its constant transformation, even the scorpion himself began to lose control. He was facing a silent, elusive monster that had suddenly appeared beside him, tearing off Iron Man's gold-titanium alloy armor with its bare hands—a monster with perpetually wide-open white eyes.
"You come out here! You come out here!" the scorpion roared, shouting hysterically.
Spider-Man emerged, looking at Scorpion, whose armor was almost completely shattered. Just as Scorpion had planned, he finally grabbed Scorpion's tail. Scorpion seemed to smile with satisfaction. Spider-Man had finally appeared; he was a person, not some ghost or monster, not a nightmare that kept appearing and disappearing.
Then, Spider-Man grabbed Scorpion's tail, swung him up, and slammed him to the ground, then swung him up again and slammed him to the ground again.
McDonald Gagan felt his face slam heavily onto the ground.
McDonald Gagan felt blood flowing from his nose and mouth.
McDonald Gagan spat out his teeth.
McDonald Gagan's entire face was numb and blank.
No one stopped Spider-Man, neither the Avengers nor anyone else. Spider-Man knew his own physical strength, and he also knew the physical strength of the scorpion that had undergone similar modifications, so he just gritted his teeth and slammed the scorpion's tail heavily onto the ground again and again.
Until someone supported him from behind.
You're about to kill him!
The person who shouted this was someone Peter hadn't expected—Cindy. He looked at Cindy in disbelief, but his tone was calm and almost indifferent: "He almost killed your family."
“But… my dad said you can’t kill people, at least not him.”
Peter saw the difficulty in her eyes.
“My dad said he wasn’t worth it.”
Peter shoved Cindy aside, because in that brief pause, the scorpion's tail pierced their heads. Cindy fell to the ground, watching Spider-Man casually disappear and reappear. Only she could sense that Spider-Man hadn't actually left; he had simply vanished for a moment.
Scorpion's face was a bloody mess, his teeth scattered, and he let out a desperate, grotesque laugh. This last blow still missed, but then, a suffocating feeling came over him. His neck was stepped on, making it difficult for him to breathe.
Spider-Man reappeared, removing the lower half of his mask to reveal his chin and mouth. He stepped on the scorpion's back and roared as the scorpion's tail and the nerve connectors on his spine were slowly ripped from his body. Gagan stared wide-eyed and howled in pain; he could no longer feel his legs. They had vanished once more.
Peter tossed the tail aside, but the scorpion still hadn't died. He looked at Cindy, who stared at the mask that was only partially removed, unable to discern the look in the eyes of the person beneath.
"Indeed, he doesn't deserve it."
Spider-Man's entire body erupted with white lightning. He grabbed the scorpion's leg from the ground, lifted him upside down, and thousands of volts of electricity instantly pierced the scorpion's body. Peter then tossed him aside and used the Avengers' communication system to make a phone call to his new friend.
“Mr. Scott (Cyclops), I need Ms. Emma Foster’s help. There’s someone’s brain that needs her to process.”
