Hogwarts: Don't call me Wandmaker

Chapter 1 Welcome to Diagon Alley

Chapter 1 Welcome to Diagon Alley

London, England.

An owl flew quickly across the sky over London, scaring away a group of small animals in the corner and attracting some people to stop.

It is somewhat rare to see a bird of prey like an owl in the city of London.

But most of the people who stop are children or tourists from other places.

In comparison, the locals in London seemed much calmer, and all looked as if they were used to it.

It's just an owl. Although it's rare, it does exist. Especially in July every year, there are so many of them that you can see them everywhere.

It's mid-July now.

"They are surprised by what they see. They are a bunch of ignorant outsiders."

The short shirts on their bodies seemed to have suddenly turned into elegant suits. The old gentlemen held their heads high with an inexplicable sense of superiority, and even their steps became much lighter.

No one noticed that the owl in the sky suddenly disappeared after crossing a street.

It was as if the owl had passed through a transparent curtain, and in the blink of an eye, it appeared above another bustling street.

But the people here all wear all kinds of strange clothes, some even wear pointed hats, and even the houses are strangely built, as if they were from the style of the previous century... or even earlier.

Although this place is only a few feet away from the street outside when looking down from the sky, it seems like two completely different worlds.

"Welcome to Diagon Alley!"

Directly below the owl, one could faintly hear a drunk shouting loudly.

But none of this concerned the owl. All it wanted now was to finish its work as quickly as possible and go back to have a delicious meal of nuts.

Continuing forward, the owl expertly navigated a cobblestone path and landed on a small windowsill behind Ollivander's Wand Shop.

The window was clean, and I could clearly see a boy about ten years old inside, with his head lowered, concentrating on doing something.

next second...

"boom!"

Something seemed to have exploded, sparks flew across the room, accompanied by a sharp explosion and a cloud of black smoke.

"Oh, hawthorn and red hat nerves, what a fiery combination, perhaps holly would be more suitable!"

Ciarán Ollivander straightened up, muttering softly, while looking at a line of red words floating in the air before him.

Hawthorn, Redcap Nerve, 10 1/2 inches

[Status: Unfinished]

[Features: May explode at any time]

Xi Lun rubbed his forehead.

It has been eleven years since he came to this world. During these eleven years, Xilun has gradually become accustomed to the wizards coming and going around him, and has also slowly accepted his new identity.

One of a family of... well, wandmakers.

His grandfather was the famous Garrick Ollivander, who had an extraordinary memory and could remember every wand.

Since childhood, Xi Lun has been able to see the properties, materials and characteristics of each wand.

He couldn't tell whether it was his own golden finger or the blood talent of the Ollivander family.

Xi Lun was more inclined to the former, because in addition to this, he could also make some completely unreasonable materials into the core of the wand.

Even Ollivander would find it difficult to make a wand with a toad tongue embedded in it, but Siren could do it, and with a pretty good success rate.

It's powerful in a way, but it's useless.

Xiren sighed.

However, in recent years, under the influence of his grandfather Garrick Ollivander, he has gradually become interested in making wands and has become more and more obsessed with it. This golden finger is not so useless anymore.

Thinking of this, Xi Lun shook his head, skillfully picked up another wand next to him and waved it gently.

"Clean up!"

"Restored to the original condition!"

The dust and black smoke brought by the explosion disappeared in an instant, and the house was restored to tidiness.

After doing all this, Xi Lun turned his head and looked towards the window.

There was nothing outside, but I could see the crowded streets of Diagon Alley and a few brown feathers lying on the windowsill.

"Strange, I clearly heard something knocking on the window just now, how come it's gone..."

Xi Lun walked over, opened the window, picked up the feather, looked at it for a few seconds, and put it in his pocket.

At this moment, the sound of flapping wings suddenly came to his ears, and Xilun subconsciously lowered his head.

It was an owl with messy feathers, staring at him angrily and making a series of shrill cries.

Xilun couldn't understand what it was saying, but judging from its expression, it seemed to be scolding him, and it was quite dirty.

"Hey, be reasonable. The explosion wasn't my fault." Xi Lun defended himself.

However, the owl was obviously not satisfied with this excuse. It threw the object in its claws hard and flew away without looking back.

"Well, I wish you a safe journey..."

Xi Lun closed the window and then looked at the things thrown on the ground.

It was a light yellow envelope with the following words written on it in emerald green ink:

[Diagon Alley, Ollivander's Wand Shop, 2nd Floor, in front of the desk, to Mr. Ciarán Ollivander]

Turning over the envelope, on the back was a wax seal, a shield crest, and a capital "H" surrounded by a lion, an eagle, a badger, and a snake. Oh, yes, a letter delivered by owl in mid-July, what else could it be except a letter from Hogwarts.

Xi Lun then realized that it was already July, and soon he would be a freshman at Hogwarts.

Not as exciting as I imagined.

If he had received this ten years ago, he would probably have jumped for joy, but now... well, he was still excited, but not as exaggerated.

And compared to going to Hogwarts, he found something more interesting.

Craft a magic wand.

He even thought that it would be good if he didn't receive the admission letter from Hogwarts, so that he would have more time to study wand making.

But this is obviously impossible.

As a child with magical powers, it is impossible for him not to receive the admission letter from Hogwarts, and Dumbledore would not make such a low-level mistake.

Even if Dumbledore made mistakes, there was Minerva McGonagall.

But that’s not bad either.

Xi Lun stretched his arms and casually placed the envelope on the table.

"Dong dong dong..."

At this time, hurried footsteps were heard from downstairs.

Xi Lun picked up his wand and opened the door in advance.

next second...

"I just saw an owl!" A head popped in from outside.

"Has that thing arrived?" Garrick Ollivander asked impatiently without even putting down the tape measure in his hand.

"Yes, the Hogwarts admission letter..." Xiren pointed to the envelope on the table.

Ollivander immediately shifted his gaze and, upon seeing the familiar crest, blurted out:
"Great!"

"To be honest, I'd rather take my mother's advice and go to Beauxbatons." Siren held his chin with one hand and said thoughtfully:

"Alchemy would be of great help to my research, but there is no alchemy class at Hogwarts."

"Besides, my father, mother, and grandmother all graduated from Beauxbatons. My mother also told me that her good friend was promoted to principal last year, so it would be more appropriate for me to go there."

Dumbledore has a big name. He is not only the chief wizard of the International Confederation of Wizards, but also the recognized strongest white wizard. But he only has eyes for Harry Potter and Voldemort.

It’s not that he doesn’t care about other ordinary students, but he certainly doesn’t pay much attention to them.

In contrast, Beauxbatons is different.

His mother, Lila Ollivander, graduated from Beauxbatons, and was both a teacher and a friend to Olympe Maxime, who was a professor at the time, and they kept in touch after graduation.

Now that Ms. Maxime is the headmaster of Beauxbatons, it would be much more convenient for me to go to school there.

And more importantly, in the next few years, Voldemort will begin planning his resurrection, and it will be very troublesome to stay in Hogwarts.

"Well... Hogwarts is great too..." Ollivander's eyes wandered, "Besides, didn't we agree on this..."

Ollivander wanted Ciarán to attend Hogwarts because he was the only child still willing to inherit his wand-making skills.

His son, Cielon's father, Garion Ollivander, also liked making wands when he was a child, but after graduating from Beauxbatons, he became fascinated with botany and traveled around the world with his wife.

And his daughter, who is also Siren's aunt, graduated from Ilvermorny and is now a well-known expert on magical animals.

Somehow, his son and daughter's careers were both closely related to wand making, but they were very different.

Ollivander thought about it for a long time and finally concluded that it must be a problem with the college. Ilvermorny and Beauxbatons were too far away.

Now that Xi Lun has finally shown his passion for wand making, he insists on taking him with him personally and teaching him carefully, and he can no longer go out to school.

Just a little bit...

Ollivander's face fell, as if he had thought of something.

How should I put it, Xilun is very talented and works very hard, but the direction of this talent seems to be a little off.

Xi Lun doesn't like the traditional wand-making methods and wand core materials. In other words, Xi Lun doesn't like to use unicorn tail hair, phoenix tail feathers and dragon heart tendons as wand cores. Instead, he prefers some... well, in his opinion, it can be said to be a rebellious combination.

For example, the troll's nose hair, the red hat's trigeminal nerve, and the hinky punk's leg bone.

Ollivander couldn't even imagine making these things into wand cores, let alone making them, but Siren enjoyed doing it.

Ollivander also tried to lead Siren back to the "right path", but obviously failed.

Ollivander also did not dare to be too strong, for fear that Siren would be like his daughter, who ran to Ilvermorny in the United States in anger after being scolded by him.

It doesn't matter if it's a little crooked, at least it has been passed down.

"Okay, okay, I didn't say I wouldn't go to Hogwarts." Looking at Ollivander's pitiful look, as if he wanted to say something but hesitated, Siren shrugged and said.

Come to think of it, Hogwarts isn't bad either.

Although it is a bit troublesome, it can provide a lot of good materials, such as the three-headed dog, Dementors, dragons, Voldemort, and the Whomping Willow.

Especially the Whomping Willow. There is only one in the entire British wizarding world, the one at Hogwarts. Siren has been coveting it for a long time.

Oh, and there's the Elder Wand in Dumbledore's hand. If he could just take a look at it, it would probably be of great help to him.

Even if there was no help, he wanted to see the legendary wand and even try it out.

Although this possibility is not great, Xilun is willing to wait, and there will always be a chance.
