Chapter 948 Something is wrong with Abigail
On the way back, Leon and Emily chatted occasionally until the car drove back to Stardew Valley. Emily took the initiative to signal Leon to stop the car in front of the station, and planned to walk the rest of the way back by herself.
Leon didn't persuade her much. After dropping Emily off at the station, he drove directly back to the farm.
Looking at the rear of the Beast pickup truck moving further and further away, Emily sighed and stayed there for a long time before heading towards Pelican Town with heavy steps.
On the other side, after Leon parked the car on the farm, he went to get some clothes, took a shower, and then went upstairs to sleep.
He slept very soundly. If Sophia hadn't come over and pinched his nose to block Leon's breathing, he felt that he could sleep until dawn.
"Is the meal ready?"
Leon raised his arms and stretched, then asked Sophia.
"Yeah." Sophia took Leon's hand and ran downstairs with him.
Steaming hot food was already placed on the table in the kitchen, and Abigail was still preparing the last dish. Looking at her skillful appearance in an apron and holding a spatula to stir-fry, Leon couldn't help but think of Emily's complaints and couldn't help laughing.
"What are you laughing at?" Abigail, who had just turned off the fire, felt offended when she saw the smile on Leon's face, and immediately questioned him in a bad mood.
"Just laugh at my luck. I found a girlfriend who can cook." Leon quickly praised in a soft voice.
"Haha." Abigail looked at Leon with a sneer. Her intuition told her that this was definitely not the reason why Leon laughed, but since this guy didn't say anything, there was no way to force him to answer. She could only roll her eyes at Leon and signal him to take care of himself.
"Eat, eat." Leon greeted Abigail, ignoring her rolling eyes.
Sophia immediately let go of Leon's hand and ran to prepare the tableware. She also took the initiative to pull Abigail to sit next to Leon, and found a chair to sit on the other side, squeezing Leon in the center.
"Where have you been these two days?" After Abigail sat down, she immediately asked Leon why she couldn't see anyone else.
"Didn't Sophia tell you that I went to the mines in the Calico Desert?" Leon looked at Sophia in confusion, and then explained the reason to Abigail.
"I know, but I don't believe it takes that long to go down the mine." Abigail retorted to Leon unhappily.
"That involves a bet between Mr. Qi and me. Let's eat first, and I'll talk to you while we eat."
Leon shrugged helplessly, then picked up the chopsticks and ate while briefly explaining what had happened in the past two days.
"I see. The Golden Dynasty's royal mausoleum has merged with the Calico Desert. Did you find the legendary royal library there?"
After listening to Leon's description, Abigail's first reaction was not about the reasons for the fall of the Golden Dynasty, but about the Golden Dynasty's collection of books.
"No, if you are interested in these, I will take you to see them next time, but I guess those things have been weathered and ruined by the ravages of time." Lyon reminded.
"It's okay if we can find part of it. After all, it's the crystallization of civilization from ancient times and should be worth studying." Abigail nodded and was very interested in Leon's proposal: "Next time we'll go together, you go down the mine and I'll be your thug, and then you help me find a library." "I don't think we can find it in the cave. If it really exists, those things are probably collected by Mr. Qi." Leon complained.
"Then please help me ask Mr. Qi for a chance to borrow it." Abigail immediately threw the question to Leon.
"Let's wait and see. In fact, you can go ask Mr. Qi for it yourself. If he has it, he probably won't refuse. He is a very easy-going person." Leon suggested.
"Yes, that Mr. Qi is really interesting, and he is very kind." Sophia, who had never had a chance to join in the conversation, saw that she had finally found a point of entry, and hurriedly spoke up to echo Leon's words.
"Have you met Mr. Qi too?" Abigail, who had no idea that Leon had taken Sophia to the desert, looked at Sophia in surprise, then reached out her hand without warning, grabbed Leon's waist and twisted it hard.
"I'll take you with me next time." Feeling the pain in his waist, Leon pursed his lips and quickly promised.
"Yeah." This answer made Abigail let Leon go temporarily and continue to enjoy dinner.
Leon didn't end the conversation, but asked Abigail in confusion, "I never noticed you were so fond of reading. How come you suddenly became a literary girl? Your thirst for knowledge seems to be much stronger."
"There's no harm in learning more. A wizard's strength comes from the accumulation of knowledge." Abigail answered seriously.
"You don't want to continue to gain strength and then confront Helena head-on, do you?"
It sounded very reasonable, but Leon didn't believe that Abigail had such an opinion at all. After thinking about it for a while, he roughly guessed the main reason why Abigail worked so hard.
"It's just one of the purposes." Abigail was straightforward and did not hide her thoughts, but she did not agree that Leon defined his learning goals so narrowly.
"I mainly want to learn more, expand my thinking, and strengthen my knowledge base."
"Something's wrong, nine out of ten things are wrong, Sophia. Do you know what happened to Abigail these two days? Was she upset? Or did Helena come ashore to find you?" Seeing this, Leon immediately asked Sophia.
"I don't know. I've been in the Blue Moon Vineyard recently. If Abigail hadn't called me today, I wouldn't have known you were back." Sophia spread her hands. She was actually quite confused about Abigail's situation.
Seeing that he couldn't get an answer from Sofia, Leon had to turn his attention to Abigail, but the latter had no intention of paying any attention to Leon at all. She ate her dinner by herself and didn't even bother to look at Leon.
This made Leon realize that Abigail must have encountered something, but if she didn't say it, Leon couldn't figure out what happened. He could only silently remember the situation and wait until after dinner to find a way to "interrogate" this girl who behaved very abnormally.
After dinner, Sophia took the initiative to clean up, and Abigail left the kitchen under Leon's gaze. When Leon chased her out and prepared to be alone with Abigail and see if he could find out some information, he found that there was no trace of Abigail in the house.
There was no sign of Abigail in the bathroom or bedroom upstairs or downstairs, which made Leon take out his cell phone to see if he could contact Abigail.
