Chapter 13 Battle Sister

Chapter 13 Battle Sister
When it comes to Warhammer 40k, most people who don’t know much about Cloud Hammer probably think of Space Marines first.

After all, the Astartes are too famous. They are indeed the face of Warhammer 40k and an important source of income for its parent company GW.

But in the human empire of the 40k era, the Space Marines are not the only force of the empire.

In other words, Space Marines cannot represent the Empire, at least not the Empire today in the 40k era.

If I had to summarize, Space Marines might represent the era of the Great Crusade in 30k, when the Emperor still walked the earth and the Imperium was thriving, full of progress and science.

In the 40th century, as the Emperor sat on the Golden Throne, the Primarchs betrayed, died, and disappeared, and the entire Empire inevitably deviated from the plans and expectations of the Emperor and the Primarchs for the Empire.

In this era, if we were to ask who best represents the current situation of the empire, perhaps the Battle Sisters are the most representative of the many forces in the empire.

Nominally affiliated with the Ecclesiarchy, this armed force is devout and loyal, shouting the Emperor's name and fighting the enemies of the Imperium until their death.

However, their fanaticism and extremism are also eye-catching. Any act of blasphemy, disloyalty, or betrayal of the Emperor will result in their most extreme targeting and punishment.

Being killed directly by the Battle Sister with the melta is the easiest way to die.

One of the punishments used by the state religion to punish various traitors and heretics is to transform various heretics, traitors or other sinners into whipping servitors to serve as cannon fodder for the combat nuns.

It should be noted that the Sisters of Battle not only turn heretics and traitors into mechanical servants, but these nuns will also transform themselves into similar beings.

If a sister feels that she has violated her faith in the God-Emperor, failed in her duty, or has acted cowardly and retreated on the battlefield, she will ask her superiors to whip her and give her electric shocks as a way to atone for her sins.

The Sisters of Atonement will even take off their power armor, wrap themselves in cloth covered with scriptures, and charge into the battlefield with a giant chainsaw sword until they die or believe they have redeemed their sins.

This usually requires surviving a brutal charge and melee on the battlefield, or receiving the Emperor's blessing to become a living saint, which can mark the end of the journey of atonement.

In a sense, this is also the most concrete manifestation of the empire today.

In the 40K era, with the rise of the state religion, the people of the Empire fanatically believed in the Emperor and worshipped him as a god.

Extreme religious fanaticism permeates the entire empire. Their faith is so devout that they would burn themselves as candles, and they can endure the most extreme and harsh treatment for their faith.

While the empire protects human survival and purity, it also exercises cruel and bloody rule internally.

The people of the empire struggled to survive on the brink of death, with an average life expectancy of no more than 40 years, while the imperial nobles could easily live to two or three hundred years old through life-extending surgery.

Sacrifice is the cornerstone of the Empire. From the Emperor himself to the garbage man at the bottom of the hive, everyone is sacrificing for the Empire, and blood is flowing like a river.

It can be said that the Warhammer 40k world created by GW is a dark, cruel, dystopian world, and is definitely not a place of beauty.

Among the vast number of Hammer fans around the world, there are a large number of loyal fans who love this hardcore setting, which also brings billions of pounds in revenue to its parent company GW every year.

Of course, liking dark and cruel settings and personally experiencing this cesspool-like hell are two completely different things.

It's precisely because of this that there's the famous saying, "When a time traveler realizes they've traveled to Warhammer, they cry like a fart whose toes have been stepped on." As a Warhammer player who spends real money on chess pieces, Chen Xi naturally enjoys this hardcore dystopian setting, and naturally, among the chess pieces he purchased was the Battle Sister.

However, the Battle Sisters were not his main clan, and their number was not large, only about a thousand points worth of chess pieces.

The reason for considering training combat nuns on the Rostov II is mainly because the Sisters are currently an advanced combat unit that Chen Xi can quickly deploy and train.

There is no need to think about Space Marines. Putting cans into the cans requires at least level III authority. Chen Xi is only level I now, so it is impossible for him to use Space Marines in a short time.

Although the Astra Militarum is known to be elite and has a large number of soldiers, and can be recruited and trained on the planet itself, its position is still to fill in the gaps and cannon fodder, and it cannot cope with situations that require high-end combat power.

Therefore, relatively speaking, a combat nun who can cope with combat situations that require high-end combat power and has the blessing of faith to fight against chaos is a very suitable choice.

They are generally equipped with power armor. Although it is not as thick as the armor of a can, it is at least much stronger than the Star Army who can only wear shell armor.

Power weapons, bolters, and melta weapons can all be equipped, and the Sisters also have E-level demons like the Living Saint. If a fight really breaks out, they will be much more useful than the Astra Militarum.

And another key factor is cost-effectiveness.

They are also ten-man teams with a score of 100 each. The Battle Sisters are all equipped with power armor, grenade launchers, melta weapons, and power swords.

The Kashejin Commandos, on the other hand, are all armored and equipped with laser guns that are jokingly called flashlights.

In tabletop battles, there is no obvious gap between the two because of the game rules. However, in the real 40k world, a full set of equipment for a Battle Sister costs nearly throne coins, while a full set of equipment for an Astra Militarum costs throne coins. One sister can be exchanged for big heads, so it is obvious which one to choose.

If Chen Xi could use a higher score, he could directly use his own chess pieces without having to consider training on the Rostov II.

But since the points are limited, he can only consider training on his own.

Fortunately, the training of nuns is much simpler than that of Space Marines and does not require gene seeds or anything like that.

As long as you establish good relations with the state religion, build a monastery, and invite combat nuns to live there, you can start mass training nuns.

The only thing that might pose a problem is the equipment of the Sisters, but as long as you have a good relationship with the state religion, the equipment of the combat sisters can still be purchased with money.

If you are lucky, the state religion may even sponsor it.

After all, ever since the Age of Apostasy, the state religion has been prohibited from possessing armed forces. Although the Sisters of Battle are nominally affiliated with the state religion, in a sense they are actually the supervisors of the state religion.

While burning heretics for the Emperor, the nuns will also use molten iron to purify any corruption or depravity in the state religion.

Just as the Sisters of Battle in the Age of Apostasy chopped off Gorg Vandir's head with their power swords.
