Chapter 468 Something's Wrong!
This experience will become a precious chapter in everyone's memory.
Late at night, after the banquet ended, Zoro went to the city wall alone. Although he was physically exhausted, his mind was unusually clear.
He drew his Wado Ichimonji and swung it at the moonlight.
This sword strike was calm yet powerful, leaving a faint trace in the air.
“I have indeed become stronger,” Zoro muttered to himself. “But that’s not enough. There are still stronger swordsmen in the world, and higher peaks waiting for me to climb.”
He remembered his goal—to become the world's greatest swordsman. The road ahead was long, but every training session and every battle brought him one step closer to his goal.
"Thank you, Uncle Kizaru," Zoro said to the night sky. "I will remember this special training forever."
In the distance, Borsalino stood in another spot, gazing at the same moon.
“A promising young man,” he said slowly. “Perhaps one day, you really will surpass me.”
He recalled the past three days of training, Zoro's indomitable will and astonishing rate of growth. This young swordsman's future was undoubtedly limitless.
“But before that,” Borsalino laughed, “I won’t stop improving.”
He raised his hand, and golden light condensed into the Kusanagi Sword. Under the moonlight, the light sword shone exceptionally brightly.
Borsalino swung his sword, a strike that incorporated all the insights he had gained over the past three days. The sword's energy ripped through the night sky, leaving a trail in the distant clouds.
"Not perfect yet," he commented. "It seems I also need to continue my training."
Half a month passed in the blink of an eye. The Straw Hat Pirates had a fulfilling and happy time in Sky City Lavala, and everyone left a deep mark on this mysterious floating city.
Robin spent almost every day in the library, studying 800 years of Lavala's historical records. She was captivated by the ancient documents, handwritten texts, and precious murals. She meticulously documented Lavala's language, script, history, and culture; these materials are of immeasurable value to her archaeological research.
Nami exchanged a lot of knowledge about upper-air currents with the meteorologists in Lavala. She learned to predict cloud changes and identify upper-air wind directions, knowledge that would be of great help in her future voyages. She even drew a detailed meteorological map of the sea area surrounding Lavala.
Sanji honed his culinary skills with the chefs of Lavala, learning many unique cooking methods using ingredients from the sky. His techniques for handling sky vegetables, pairing sky fruits, and controlling the heat at high altitudes all elevated his culinary skills to a new level.
While helping the doctors in Lavala treat patients, Chopper also learned about medical knowledge unique to high-altitude environments. He discovered that the Lavala people, due to their long-term life at high altitudes, have subtle differences in physical structure compared to humans on the lower levels, which gave him a deeper understanding of biology.
Besides modifying various mechanical devices, Frankie also formed a close friendship with the craftsmen, despite their age difference. They often stayed in the workshop until late at night, discussing various technical issues and exchanging design concepts. The combination of Frankie's innovative ideas and the traditional skills of the Lavala craftsmen produced many amazing creations.
Brooke became Lavala's most popular musician. His music brought new life to the ancient city, and every night residents gathered in the square to listen to him play. He also learned some traditional Lavala tunes and incorporated them into his own musical style.
Luffy made friends everywhere and became close with the children of Lavara. He played all sorts of games with them, told them stories about the sea, and became a hero in their eyes.
After finishing his special training with Zoro, Borsalino didn't remain idle. He frequently conversed with the elders of Lavala, discussing various topics such as history, philosophy, and politics. His knowledge and wisdom greatly benefited the elders, and he also learned a great deal from these wise men.
Over the past two weeks, the Straw Hat Pirates have completely integrated into life in Lavala. They are no longer outsiders, but a part of the city. The residents treat them as friends, and the children idolize them.
But all good things must come to an end.
That morning, Luffy sat at the bow of the Thousand Sunny, gazing at the distant sea of clouds, and suddenly said:
"I think we should go."
Everyone else on the deck stopped what they were doing and looked at him.
“Luffy,” Nami said softly.
“I know everyone loves it here.” Luffy turned around and looked earnestly at his crew. “I love it too. But… we’re pirates, our adventure isn’t over yet. The sea is still waiting for us.”
After a moment of silence, Zoro spoke first: "The captain is right. It's time to continue our voyage."
"Although I'm very reluctant," Nami's eyes welled up with tears, "I agree."
“Lavara is indeed a beautiful place,” Robin said gently, “but it’s not the end, just a stop on the journey.”
“I’ll miss the kitchen and the ingredients here,” Sanji sighed.
"I will miss the workshop and the artisans," Franky said, a hint of sadness in his voice.
"Those children," Chopper said, tears welling up in his eyes.
“The concertgoers will miss me too,” Brooke sighed.
“So,” Borsalino said slowly, “when do we depart?”
"Tomorrow," Luffy decided. "Today we'll say goodbye to everyone, and we'll set off first thing tomorrow morning."
Everyone nodded in agreement. Although reluctant, they all knew it was necessary. They were pirates, adventurers, destined not to stay in one place for long.
The news quickly spread throughout Lavala City. The residents were very saddened when they heard that the Straw Hat Pirates were leaving.
"Are they leaving?"
"So fast? It feels like they just arrived."
"I really hate to part with it."
That afternoon, as the Straw Hat Pirates walked down the street, residents kept coming over to say goodbye.
“Thank you for teaching us so many skills.” The craftsmen surrounded Franky. “You are the best craftsman we have ever met.”
"Don't say that," Franky said, a little embarrassed. "You guys are really good too."
“This is a specially made tool kit.” Tony handed Franky a delicate box. “I hope it will come in handy on your journey.”
When Franky opened it, he found a complete set of tools made of pumice and fine steel, each piece exquisitely crafted.
"Thank you." Franky's voice was a little choked up.
Meanwhile, Robin was surrounded by the scholars in the library.
“Miss Robin, this is a summary of Lavara's history that we’ve compiled.” An elderly scholar handed her a thick book. “While it can’t compare to a complete text, it records the most important parts.”
"Really, can I have it?" Robin asked in surprise.
“Of course,” the old scholar smiled. “Your passion for history and your serious approach to research have deeply moved us. This book truly belongs to a scholar like you.”
"Thank you." Robin carefully took the book, tears welling in her eyes.
Meanwhile, on Sanji's side, the chefs in Lavala were packing samples of various sky ingredients for him.
“These vegetables and fruits can be stored for a while,” the chef said. “It’s not much, but hopefully it will help you remember the taste of Lavala.”
"I will cherish it." Sanji said earnestly.
Nami received detailed wind direction maps and meteorological data drawn by the meteorologists of Lavala.
“We’ve been recording this data for several generations,” a meteorologist said. “Hopefully, it will help you navigate the seas.”
“It’s so precious,” Nami said, moved. Chopper was surrounded by a group of patients and children he had treated.
"Dr. Chopper, thank you for curing my illness!"
"Chopper, you must come back to see us!"
I'll miss you!
The children handed Chopper small gifts they had made themselves—some were hand-woven bracelets, some were pendants made of seashells, and some were drawings.
Chopper cried his eyes out: "You...you bastards, I won't be moved at all! Bastards!"
Brooke held his final concert in the square. Hundreds of residents gathered there to listen to his performance.
As the last note faded, thunderous applause erupted throughout the venue.
"Thank you everyone!" Brooke bowed deeply. "Although I have no eyes, I will remember each and every one of you with my soul! Hehehe!"
Luffy was surrounded by a group of children.
"Brother Luffy, you have to come back!"
"You promised to take us to see the sea!"
We'll miss you!
Luffy knelt down and patted the children's heads: "I promise you, if I have the chance, I will definitely come back. And you must grow up well, maybe one day you can see the sea too!"
"Really?" The children's eyes lit up.
"Of course!" Luffy grinned.
Zoro stood at the edge of the training ground, where Karen and many warriors came to say goodbye.
“Mr. Sauron, watching you train these past two weeks has shown us what a true warrior is,” Karen said earnestly. “Your spirit will always inspire us.”
"Don't be so serious." Zoro smiled, a rare occurrence for him. "You guys keep up the good work too."
"We will!" the soldiers responded in unison.
Borsalino then had his final conversation with the elders in the Elders' Hall.
“We have gained a great deal from our time together,” Elder Alva said. “You have not only helped us resolve the crisis, but also brought us new ideas and technologies.”
“We should be thanking Lavala,” Borsalino said. “We found long-lost peace here and learned a great deal.”
“This is a gift for you.” Elder Elena took out an exquisite box. “Inside are the purest pumice from Lavala. It’s not much, but enough for your ships to use when necessary.”
“Thank you.” Borsalino took the box. “We will cherish it.”
“And this,” Elder Cassius said, handing him a stone tablet engraved with intricate patterns. “This is proof of Lavala’s friendship. If you ever return here, this tablet will be your best pass.”
“We will definitely keep it safe,” Borsalino said solemnly.
That evening, Lavala City held a grand farewell banquet for the Straw Hat Pirates. Almost all the residents attended, and the entire square was packed with people.
The bonfire blazed brightly, the music was melodious, and the aroma of fine wine filled the air. People sang and danced, bidding farewell to their friends in the most enthusiastic way.
"Cheers to the Straw Hat Pirates!" Elder Alva raised his glass.
"Cheers!" everyone responded in unison.
The banquet continued late into the night. When the bright moon was high in the sky, Luffy stood up and shouted:
"Thank you everyone in Lavala for taking care of us during this time! Although we are leaving, we will never forget you!"
“We will not forget you either!” the residents responded.
"If we have the chance, we will definitely come back!" Nami shouted.
"You must come back!" the children cried.
"When we come back, we'll have to prepare even more delicious food!" Luffy grinned.
Laughter and cheers echoed through the night sky.
The next morning, just as dawn was breaking, the Straw Hat Pirates arrived at the docking platform. The Thousand Sunny was ready to depart.
To their surprise, almost the entire city's residents came to see them off. The berth was packed with people, all wanting to bid their friends farewell.
"So many people," Nami said, moved.
“Because everyone will miss you all.” Tony walked over. “You brought so much change and so many wonderful memories to Lavala.”
“We’ll miss Lavala too,” Robin said sincerely.
The Straw Hat Pirates boarded the ship one by one. Before each person boarded, they were surrounded by the residents, receiving a final hug and blessings.
After everyone had boarded the ship, Luffy stood at the bow and shouted to the crowd:
Goodbye, Lavala! We'll definitely be back!
Have a safe journey!
Take care!
Remember to come back!
The residents waved their arms, and many were already in tears.
Franky activated the Light Stone System, and the Thousand Sunny slowly left the platform and began to fly in the air.
The Straw Hat Pirates stood on the deck, waving goodbye to the crowd below. Lavala City gradually shrank in their view, but the figures waving farewell remained clearly visible.
"What a wonderful place," Nami said, wiping away her tears.
“Yes.” Sanji also felt a little sentimental.
The Thousand Sunny flew for a distance until Lavala Island completely disappeared from view. Now, they needed to land on the sea.
"Prepare for descent!" Franky controlled the pneumatic rock system. "I'll gradually lower the altitude, everyone hold on tight!"
The ship began its slow descent. Descending from a height of one thousand meters to the sea surface is a process that requires caution.
At first, everything went smoothly. The Thousand Sunny descended steadily, passing through layers of clouds.
But when they descended to an altitude of about 500 meters, Franky suddenly noticed something was wrong.
"Something's wrong!" he shouted anxiously. "The ship is rocking!"
