The Wolf of Los Angeles.

Chapter 584 Goddess of Justice

Century City, Fox Television Center.

After lunch, Megan Taylor was invited to the coffee shop in the lounge area, where she met Halle Wayne, who had blonde hair.

After several collaborations, the two have become good friends over the years thanks to Megan's quiet and unassuming relationship.

Harley ordered two cold coffees, handed one to Megan, and said, "Any big, secret news lately? I haven't been able to find any juicy scoops for too long. If this keeps up, my freedom will be revoked."

Megan casually remarked, "In a place like America, if you're patient enough to dig, you can always find big news that will shock the world."

"For example, the truth behind Hillary's death?" Harley came specifically to see her, clearly having some ideas: "There must be a series of dark secrets hidden behind this."

Megan didn't know the specifics of what had happened, but she knew that Hawke and Hillary were at odds, and that the current president, Tom Emer, was also Hillary's arch-enemy.

She cautioned, "As you said yourself, the darkness that can't be brought into the light might involve important figures in politics, and there's a real risk to your life."

As she gets older, gains more experience, and is influenced by her surroundings, Harley, while still possessing a strong sense of justice, has become less stubborn: "I know all of this, but with such a big news story in front of me, knowing there are serious problems involved, yet being unable to investigate because of concerns for my personal safety is too agonizing."

Megan picked up the spare ice bucket next to her, picked up several ice cubes, and put them into Harley's glass: "Let the cold extinguish the fire in your heart."

Harley picked up her glass, took a big gulp, and her feverish head calmed down a bit. But once the topic was brought up, she didn't want to change the subject, so she continued, "I have a feeling that Seraphim's death is related to Satanism and the Zackton."

"Huh?" This caught Megan off guard, and she couldn't help but ask, "Have you found any evidence?"

Harley held the glass in her left hand, feeling the coldness of the ice cubes in her palm. With her right hand, she took out a smartphone, opened the gallery, and showed Megan a photo: "Since the Hillary incident, I've sent a few people to the airport in Little Rock, Arkansas, to monitor the flow of people in and out."

Megan said, "You're quite calm. You didn't have anyone directly monitoring the farm in Lofton. There are Secret Service agents protecting it, and the FBI probably had people nearby as well. Many reporters who went there to take photos were arrested and suffered a lot."

Harley has been famous for five or six years and is no longer the impulsive young reporter she once was. She said, "So, I had someone rent a house near the airport exit for a long time."

She pointed to the picture on her phone: "In the past few months, quite a few people have actually met with Zipton, but the person who has gone the most times is a bald man named Anton."

Megan automatically added, "The leader of the Satanic cult."

For well-informed veteran journalists, Anton is not an unfamiliar name, especially since his identity in New York is almost a public fact.

Harley nodded and continued, "After the Lolita Island incident broke out, I developed two Satanic cult peripheral members as news informants through special channels. They provided me with a clue that Zipperton had been impotent for several years and could only... you know. He specifically sought out Satanic cult leader Anton for this, and Anton developed a special sacrificial ritual for it."

Megan rubbed her face: "At the end of science is theology, and these big shots are often tied to some inexplicable religion."

“Yes, there are always some strange beliefs.” Harley took another sip of her iced coffee. “It is said that this sacrificial ritual is very complicated, requiring the flesh and blood of a close relative, held in public on special occasions, and requiring at least two strangers to volunteer to sacrifice themselves.”

Megan's words led her to suspect a direct link between the Hillary Clinton incident and the London attacks: "The London attacks seem to fit all these criteria perfectly: it happened in public, Hillary was brutally murdered, the attackers were fully committed, and it was a suicide attack..."

Harley said very seriously, "At first I didn't believe these reports either, but after the London attacks, I verified them one by one. Also, Anton went to Little Rock several times to meet with Richardson. All of these things combined made it impossible not to be suspicious."

Megan understood: "You want to investigate this? And then report it."

Harley said, "Let's give it a try. I won't force you, but with the news in front of us, we can't just let it go."

Meghan had a feeling that there was something wrong with Halle's news sources.

But she knew Harley well; once she made a decision, she wouldn't easily change it.

Megan didn't try to dissuade her, but simply reminded her, "If you feel unsafe halfway through, you must back out. Don't force it. Only by staying alive can you report more news and continue to uphold fair and impartial reporting."

Harley nodded: "I wouldn't joke about my own safety."

Megan said, "I can only wish you good luck."

"It's heartbreaking to see America become like this." Harley's idealism hasn't disappeared; rather, it has been hidden deep within her heart as she has gained more social experience and life experience.

Her expression darkened, and after a moment of silence, she said, "Don't you wish our country could be better off?"

“I really hope so,” Megan said, stating a terrifying reality: “but to make America a better place, we need to purge all the top politicians in Washington and the states, the leaders of the major corporations, and all the billionaires on the rich list.”

Harley knew this was impossible, and said, "Hopefully more people will step forward."

Everyone has different aspirations, and Megan had never considered these things, saying, "Honey, don't put too much pressure on yourself."

As it approached the afternoon workday, the two ended their conversation.

Harley went downstairs alone. Her slender figure seemed delicate, but her beautiful face was full of determination.

Megan returned to the director's office at Channel 11, considered for a moment, picked up the phone, dialed Hawke's number, and said when the call connected, "It's me. I need to talk to you."

Hawke was clearly outdoors, and some noise could be faintly heard. He quickly replied, "I'm at the country club. Come over if it's convenient for you."

“Okay.” Megan hung up the phone, went into the accompanying lounge to touch up her makeup, took off her business suit, changed into casual clothes, and drove downstairs to the Los Angeles Country Club.

The Fox Television Center is located in Beverly Hills, and the Country Club is in West Los Angeles; they are not far apart.

When Megan arrived, she found the bodyguard named Morientes waiting at the door, and she followed him to the enclosed indoor tennis court.

On the court, the sounds of hitting the ball and men shouting as they exerted their strength could be heard continuously.

Hawke is playing tennis with a bespectacled man in his thirties.

Megan, who follows current affairs closely, took a moment to recognize the bespectacled man as Michael Johnson, the newly elected congressman from Louisiana.

This person is known for his anti-gay and LGBTQ movements and is a typical conservative.

Megan sat on a bench on the sidelines, wondering if Hawke's association with this man meant the winds of change were about to blow.
As a key ally of Hawke in the traditional media, she had previously received Hawke's reminders regarding the social movement aspect.

With the rise of the LGBTQ movement, there has been a trend of demonization, with genders being associated with things like Walmart shopping bags and armed helicopters.

Most incredibly, both have received government recognition.

America is truly magical, and Megan feels she is one of the driving forces behind it all.

After all, she had done a lot of work in pushing Hawke to do these messy things.

On the court, Hawke ended the rally with a powerful overhead smash. Michael Johnson, hands on his knees, gasped for breath, shook his head to the other side, and said intermittently, "No...no, we...we need to rest...rest for a while."

Hawke removed the wristband from his wrist, tossed it to Raul, and headed towards the rest area.

Megan immediately stood up, grabbed a towel, and hurried over to him, avoiding Hawke's hand as he took the towel, and personally wiped his sweat.

Michael Johnson, quick to understand, straightened up and said, "I'm going to take a shower and get some water."

Hawke waved in his direction.

After everyone left, Megan brought over a bottle of room-temperature mineral water and handed it to Hawke: "Drink slowly."

Hawke took a small sip of water and asked, "Is James Murdoch trying to get you to go against Roger Ailes again?"

“No, it was Harley Wayne who talked to me about something.” Megan quickly recounted the contents of their conversation in detail.

Hawke sat on a lounge chair: "Harley? I remember her, the journalist who exposed the Ackerman family, I think she had a nickname too."

Megan added, "She's known as the Goddess of Justice on the internet."

Although her relationship with Harley wasn't for pure reasons, she didn't want to see such a genuinely good person suffer misfortune: "Now the goddess of justice wants to investigate something very dangerous, and she might perish."

Hawke cannot control a journalist's freedom to investigate.

Megan didn't want Hawke to get involved, but emphasized, "I'm worried that Harley's belief that Zipperton was behind all this might lead her to allow the investigation, which could affect your plans."

“It’s alright.” Hawke laughed. “She’d better come to the conclusion that Zipton was the mastermind behind the London attacks.”

This conclusion is particularly consistent with conspiracy theories.

Megan shrugged.

Hawke thought for a moment, then said, "Information from Harley's informant? Are informants reliable? Is it that easy to develop informants within the Satanic cult?"

Megan asked, "Have you tried it?"

Hawke roughly stated, "Satanism is a highly organized group, and ordinary believers have difficulty obtaining effective information. When Campos's people tried to infiltrate it, all they got were brainwashing statements."

He looked at Megan: "Do you think Halle can do things on par with a large team?"

“Absolutely impossible.” Megan knew about Butterfly Company; those people weren’t ordinary Latinos at all. “While Harley’s sense of justice and work ethic are impeccable, her investigative skills aren’t among the best at Fox.”

At this point, she remembered a few more things.

Halle's rise to prominence on Fox was directly related to Hawke.

Megan vividly remembers how, during those incidents, Hawke exploited Hallie's overflowing sense of justice and professional ethics, using nine parts true and one part false information and clues to mislead her into making a series of news investigations and reports that were in favor of his side.

It was because of this series of public reports that Harley earned the title of goddess of justice on the internet.

Even today, she doesn't see any problem with it.

Harley has been misled into this kind of investigation several times before, so it's not surprising that it happened again.

Hawke could easily understand: "After the London attacks, too many people were eyeing Hillary's remaining political legacy; profiting from human suffering was too tempting."

Megan said, "The Democrats are our rivals, and it doesn't seem like it would be very advantageous for either of us to inherit this political legacy."

Hawke thought for a moment and said, "You and Harley are friends, so show your concern often. I'll have someone keep an eye on things over there."

Megan replied, "Okay."

She glanced at her watch and said, "You still have things to discuss with someone, so I won't take up any more of your time. I'll wait for you at our usual spot at the Beverly Business Club in a bit."

Hawke nodded: "Okay."

Megan left the country club and instead of returning to the Fox Television Center, drove to the Beverly Business Club.

Worried that Hawke would stand her up, she deliberately lifted her skirt, took a picture of her long legs in stockings, and sent it to Hawke.

Hawke took a quick shower and chatted with Michael Johnson in the meeting room.

The latter is a rising political star in Louisiana and a pioneer of the anti-LGBTQ movement.

Hawke intends to promote the LGBUTQ movement with one hand and suppress it with the other, so that the movement can not only grow wildly, but also further provoke a nationwide movement.

As social divisions in the United States continue to widen, perhaps one day, demons and monsters will no longer be able to coexist with ordinary people, and a serious conflict will erupt between the two.

When countless sharp social contradictions accumulate to a certain extent, this grand drama called America will surely become even more exciting.

Only emerging speculators like him can find more opportunities within the old order forged by traditional powers and the Celestial Dragons.

New York, Dong Zong Building.

In his top-floor office, Mr. Dong, having styled his signature hair, made a phone call to his daughter and received a reply from Los Angeles that progress was so-so. His expression turned somewhat gloomy.

It's not easy to pry open a crack between the interest groups in California and separate them.

After hanging up the phone, Mr. Dong asked the person next to him, "Have you given that dog at Fox News any information or clues about Satanism and Zipkins?"

“They’ve already been released.” The man explained in detail, “Harley Wayne personally came to New Jersey, met with the two men, and asked them to assist in the investigation.”

Mr. Dong finally smiled: "Very good, let them put on a good show."

He packed his belongings: "Let's go talk to Roger Ayers." (End of Chapter)
