Chapter 617 The Golden-Winged Roc Descends

That night, within Ci'en Temple, the Lotus Realm became a world unto itself.

Outside Ci'en Temple, the wind and rain were calm, and the night was dark and the wind was high.

Inside, yin and yang were reversed, heaven and earth were out of order, the void howled, and battles raged.

In the course of several dozen rounds, Chen Yuan stood on the clouds, his three-pointed double-edged spear unleashing the power of an ultimate holy weapon, cleaving the golden body of Arhat Gaya down from the void and collapsing a low mountain below. The six-colored dragon armor shimmered with six rays of light—blue, red, yellow, white, black, and gold—under the sunlight, and the dragon patterns on the armor plates seemed to come alive, emitting dragon roars.

He charged forward, and several enormous magical artifacts flew towards him. Chen Yuan's third vertical eye between his eyebrows opened and closed, surveying the three wrathful deities with different appearances who were constantly charging towards him. "A few incense-burning phantoms dare to block this general?"

"roll!"

Having said that, the three-pointed double-edged spear in his hand crackled with lightning, and with a sweep of the spear, he rammed it into the vajra pestle that Vajrapani Bodhisattva was slashing at.

The next second, lightning flashed and thunder roared, bursting forth with blinding light and a deafening clang. Chen Yuan used the momentum to spin around, his spear shaft suddenly lengthening and sweeping across, transforming into a hundred-foot-long weapon. This caused the Vajra Hand statue, made of mountain stone, to stagger backward, its legs trembling repeatedly. The statue let out a strange howl, and six golden rings on its arms immediately shot out, slashing towards Chen Yuan's waist like a saw.

Chen Yuan neither dodged nor evaded, but took the impact of the golden ring head-on. With a clang, the light patterns on the armor surged, causing the golden ring to fly back.

At the same time, the three heads of the Horse-Headed King roared simultaneously, its bone staff sweeping across with chains, the sound of copper bells echoing through the sky, even disturbing the soul. Chen Yuan's vertical eye between his brows shone with intense golden light, and with a cold snort, he broke the spell. Then, his size changed instantly, and his figure swelled to the same height as the statue. The spear tip swept away the chains and then thrust straight at the necklace on the Horse-Headed King's chest. Sparks flew as the spear tip grazed the dark blue stone god, revealing a wound like flowing lava. The King roared angrily, and a blue snake suddenly shot out from his left arm, transforming into a giant python that coiled around the spear shaft, while his right scimitar, dripping with blood, slashed towards Chen Yuan's face.

Just then, the Golden-Winged Roc suddenly swooped down, its crimson-gold wings slashing down like guillotines. Its feathers, like divine weapons, grazed the True Dragon Armor. With a series of ear-piercing metallic scraping sounds, sparks flew as it frantically cut through the divine light of Chen Yuan's armor, tearing a gap in it. Then, at the same time, its sharp beak, like a sword, pecked at Chen Yuan's head.

Chen Yuan's eyes were as sharp as needles, radiating a fierce aura. He stepped into the air and a majestic dragon roared out.

Suddenly, the dragon patterns on the True Dragon Armor shone brightly, and then a golden-scaled true dragon appeared, its aura fierce. It charged out from the side, grabbed the two golden wings of the Roc with its claws, and at the same time, it spat out dragon flames that pressed against the sharp beak of the golden-winged Roc. The two demons began to fight.

A true dragon soars to victory!

Taking advantage of this brief opening, Chen Yuan's face contorted, his throat rumbled like thunder, and the veins in his hand bulged. With a sudden burst of power, he ripped the giant python wrapped around the spear shaft into several pieces.

Then, his eyes flashed with cold light, and the tip of his spear suddenly shone brightly, piercing through the chest of the Horse-Headed King like lightning, sending forth gushing magma.

With a flick of Chen Yuan's wrist, five thunderbolts leaped, and the Horse-Headed King roared, suddenly transforming into a giant rock that exploded and vanished into nothingness.

Chen Yuan drew his spear, turned to defend, and spun around, brandishing his spear. To his side, Vajra Hand formed a Buddhist hand seal, and golden Buddhist hands materialized in the void, crashing down on Chen Yuan like a meteor shower.

Chen Yuan's spear formed an impenetrable barrier, deflecting all the giant handprints. After the storm subsided, he hurled his spear at the Vajrapani Bodhisattva statue on the left, sending a sharp whistling sound through the air. Chen Yuan then charged towards the statue, unleashing a powerful punch like a god.

The spear pierced the air, and Vajra Hand blocked it with his vajra pestle, but was directly deflected. Then, the Buddhist hand seal held in his other hand met Chen Yuan's fist.

Fist against palm, the two engaged in close combat.

In just two or three rounds, the Vajrapani Bodhisattva statue was knocked off balance. Chen Yuan seized the opportunity, grabbed one of the statue's arms with both hands, and snapped it off with a forceful twist. Then, he twisted it with his full strength and tore off one of the statue's stone arms.

Despite the enemy's bombardment, Chen Yuan's True Dragon Armor vibrated, constantly dissipating the force.

In just a few moments, Chen Yuan tore the statue to pieces as if it were a tiger or leopard, then stomped on it and crushed it.

After doing all this, Chen Yuan looked down at the last golden-winged roc. Just as he summoned his spear and prepared to blast it away, a golden light pierced through the sun and broke through the true dragon. A beam of Buddhist light appeared above the head of the golden-winged roc.

It was that golden Arhat, Garaja, whose entire body was painted in gold!

A halo of Buddha light shone from behind Jia Ye's head. Facing Chen Yuan's charging attack, he remained calm and composed, clasping his hands together and chanting, "Amitabha!"

"General, you are indeed a man of extraordinary abilities. This humble monk is unworthy to offer my humble opinion."

Chen Yuan's eyes were like cold knives. Without stopping, his spear charged straight at his opponent, the tip piercing through the opponent's golden body.

"Buzz!"

A loud buzzing sound rang out.

The spear tip stopped about ten feet in front of the man's brow, the void as solid as steel.

Before the Arhat Gaya, a yellow glass bead the size of a fingernail radiated a peaceful and sacred power, emitting boundless light!

The light blocked the three-pointed double-edged spear!
Chen Yuan sensed a powerful force surging within that small bead, a force that could shake one's mind and spirit. Anyone with a weak will could easily be overwhelmed by it.

He is not included in this category.

Chen Yuan exerted force, transmitting immense power to the spear shaft, his eyes coldly stating, "You have indeed made a fool of yourself!"

"If that's all you've got, you're not qualified to waste your breath in front of me. Break my spell!"

As soon as he finished speaking, Chen Yuan gathered the Five Thunderbolts of Righteous Law at the tip of his spear, drawing down heavenly thunder in a violent display, while simultaneously clapping his hands forcefully.

This monk is no good. They've already fought this far; how can he just stop like that? What a joke! He needs to find out more about this guy.

With a sharp whistling sound, the spear tip trembled rapidly, tearing through the void, which seemed as solid as metal, inch by inch.

Opposite him, Garaja Arhat's brow twitched slightly, and his sixteen-foot-tall golden body trembled, like the tolling of a temple bell.
"when"

"when"

"when"

Golden light emanated from his golden body, wave after wave, empowering the relics formed from his three treasures of morality, concentration, and wisdom, to resist the powerful spear attack.

At the same time, he uttered a Buddhist chant, his breath becoming more rapid than before. Although it was only a barely perceptible trace, it proved that the Arhat, who had cultivated a clear and enlightened mind, had undergone a subtle change in his state of mind.

"General, why bother? This humble monk merely seeks your guidance and tests the connection between you and my Western Land. I once used my knowledge of destiny to observe cause and effect and captured a glimpse of heavenly secrets. I discovered that you have a connection with Buddha, which is why we are in this situation today."

"I have some guesses about what General Chen just said to the boy under his seat. Why don't you listen to it, General?"

The power of knowing past lives, one of the five eyes and six supernatural powers in Buddhism, is a great supernatural ability in Buddhism, a wonderful method to see through the cause and effect of the past, present and future. If one cultivates this supernatural ability to a high level, one can break through the limitations of time and space, and look back on one's own past lives and the past lives of all sentient beings in the six realms, clearly seeing all the experiences and good and evil deeds of past and present lives as if unfolding a grand scroll.

Jia Ye's words were indeed not made up out of thin air. He had indeed practiced the ability to predict destiny. Although he had not reached a high level, he could still glimpse a trace of the secrets of heaven.

As for why this supernatural power was used to observe Chen Yuan, it was not a sudden thought or a feeling in the heart. Rather, it was because Chen Yuan was the most famous in Shu, a place where great events converge. When the Ninth Mountain's army descended the mountain in a grand procession, they used this supernatural power to observe him, hoping to glimpse a sliver of an opportunity to pave the way for the transmission of the Dharma in the future.

As it turned out, he actually figured out the cause and effect, and it wasn't a small one!

However, his supernatural powers had not yet reached a high level, and the general's cultivation level concealed his divine secrets, which led to his sudden dispatch of Asura to investigate. Therefore, today's events were not a sudden whim; there is a cause and effect at play.

Upon hearing this, Chen Yuan continued to exert force with both hands, his eyes narrowing, finally getting to the point.

This guy, he's good at talking.

"boom"

"boom"

"Say!"

"General Chen, I heard that you previously killed a golden-winged eagle named Moro?"

"That's right!"

"That's right, Amitabha! This involves a secret of my Western Lands, which is why this humble monk left the general to recount it!" Jia Ye's golden body rang out like a golden bell, continuously deflecting the sharp attacks, yet his voice remained incredibly clear.

“This eagle is a disciple of the Golden-Winged Roc, the Dharma Protector of the Western Land. He cultivated before the Buddha. Later, this wicked creature stole a Buddha relic guarded by the Golden-Winged Roc King and smuggled it down the mountain from the Pure Land Dharma Realm. Mount Sumeru only discovered this later, but dared not make it public. The Sumeru Dharma Realm is only opened at specific times. This humble monk’s descent down the mountain this time can be said to have a trace of cause and effect in this regard.”

"The Buddha's relics are of great importance. I wonder if the general saw them when he killed that wicked creature?"

Luohan Jiaye recounted a secret involving the theft of Buddha's relics.

After speaking, he looked at Chen Yuan with his eyes.

But that look clearly didn't require Chen Yuan to answer.

Chen Yuan did recall that when he broke through to the Dragon-Tiger realm in Yinshan and fought against the two great demons, when he finally killed the Golden-Winged Gu Eagle, the other party claimed to be a disciple of the Golden-Winged Roc King of the Western Lands. Moreover, after killing the other party, he obtained a sealed white finger bone from its body.

At the time, I was preoccupied with the war and didn't take a second look. Mainly, my eyesight was limited at the time, and I couldn't see it. I just casually threw it into the Pot Heaven Space. Later, one thing after another happened, so naturally I had long forgotten about it.

Seeing the other person's expression, Chen Yuan laughed in exasperation. This guy talks a good game, but his actions are a completely different story.

"Don't say I haven't seen it before. Even if I had, why should I give it to you? If you can beat me, then come and take it yourself."

Garaja Arhat frowned slightly, trying to keep his tone as calm as possible.

“If the general can return the relic, he will have great fortune and gain good karma from Mount Sumeru. Why don’t you do this for him? It’s useless for you to take it.”

Chen Yuan glanced sideways, too lazy to waste words with the monk. His body swelled, his giant hand gripping the spear, and he slammed it down with a thunderous roar, his hair and beard billowing.
"What use would I have for your good karma from Mount Sumeru? I've said it before, take it yourself if you're capable!"

"boom"

In an instant, a loud explosion occurred.

A tremendous force surged into the three-pointed double-edged spear, causing the spear tip to erupt with sharpness, crackling as it tried to shatter the sixteen-foot-tall golden body!
Even the Arhat Gaya finally changed color and let out a sigh.
"If that's the case, then please don't blame this humble monk for being impolite."

"General, do you think this humble monk left behind this Golden-Winged Roc statue?"

"It seems that in the end, we still need to ask the main lord, Peng Wang, to appear. He is someone who once accompanied the reincarnation of an ancient Buddha, attained the Mahayana fruit (Bodhisattva vehicle), but chose to stay in the human world and never went to the Western Paradise."

As soon as he finished speaking, the Arhat clasped his hands together and began chanting loudly.

"Great Garuda, wilderness spirits and deities, Rakshasa and Hariti, filled with nectar, Om, Muti Svaha."

As the strange incantation was uttered, the lotus-shaped Dharma Realm was instantly transformed, with a fierce wind rising.

Then, a golden-red crack appeared in the bright sky, and a crimson-gold cloud rolled out from it. Each wisp of cloud shimmered like a feather. With a roar that pierced through gold and split stone, the cloud exploded, and a beam of light descended from the sky, landing on the golden-winged Garuda statue beneath the Garuda Arhat.

“hu”

An immense and powerful force that transcended the void descended upon this place, causing the entire Dharma realm to resonate incessantly.

Then, a piercing ringing sound rang out.

The golden-winged roc statue was bathed in golden light, as if it were alive. Its entire body was as if it had been cast from golden divine metal. In particular, its eyes were brightened by a spot of gold paint, carrying overwhelming sharpness and majesty.

An incredibly powerful aura, comparable to that of a celestial being, roared out, bending the spear shaft reinforced by Chen Yuan's immense strength, causing the spear tip to shriek incessantly!
The guardian deity of Buddhism, the Golden-Winged Roc of Mount Sumeru, communicates with the power of heaven and earth and descends to this lotus realm through the Dharma!
According to Arhat Gaya, this person had attained the Bodhisattva stage, which in Buddhism is equivalent to a celestial being. However, this person did not ascend to the Western Paradise but chose to remain in the human realm.

He was a true demon who chose to remain in the mortal realm instead of ascending to immortality. He was also a guardian deity of Mount Sumeru and a Bodhisattva.

When the Golden-Winged Roc King descended through magic, his enormous eyes, like golden suns, turned, and a vast, ancient, and solemn voice resounded.

"Gaye, you've come down the mountain to spread the Dharma, what brings you here to summon me?"

"King Peng, this humble monk greets you!" Jia Ye flew down and stood before the massive body of the Golden-Winged Roc, clasped his hands in a gesture of respect, and then turned to Chen Yuan, slowly introducing himself:

"This General Chen once killed your traitorous disciple who ran away from the mountain. He may very well know the whereabouts of that finger bone relic. However, the general may not trust this humble monk. Therefore, this humble monk invites you, Peng Wang, to make the decision yourself."

As these words fell, the Golden-Winged Roc's eyes shone on Chen Yuan like two great lamps, its gaze as bright as the sun and moon, radiating a strange and powerful light.

"The Imperial Martial Saint?"

"The one who defied the heavens?"

The sound was muffled, like rolling thunder.

And this Peng King, upon first seeing Chen Yuan, also knew of Chen Yuan's existence.

Chen Yuan stood with his gun in hand, his gaze intense, feeling the powerful aura emanating from the other party, which was even more oppressive than when he had simply faced a celestial being.

It's at the level of the primordial spirit!
After all, the celestial beings he faced back then descended from another realm and were suppressed by this world.

Ha, what a lively scene! That Arhat actually attracted an old monster from the Western Pure Land because of this!
However, he's not the only one who can call people.

Keep in mind, this is Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan province. (End of Chapter)
