Chapter 184: Encounter in the Jungle

Chapter 184: Encounter in the Jungle
"You cubs, you still dare to attack me?!" The witch's eerie laughter echoed in the jungle. When a wolf was about to swallow her whole, a huge amount of energy suddenly burst out from her skinny and dry body.

Faintly, Ron seemed to hear the sound of something breaking on the witch's body.

"Although I am still far from my prime, it is still easy for me to deal with you!" The witch revealed her true form, and with a pair of iron claws she forcibly pried open the upper and lower jaws of the wolf and tore it violently to both sides.

"Come on! Don't you wolf cubs like to eat old and tough meat? Then come and have a taste!"

"She's really powerful!" Constance widened her eyes and looked at Sera who was fighting the three-headed wolf over there, "I'm afraid she has caught up with Sister Sera..."

"You're overthinking it," Ivy sneered. "Before Sera gained the power of giant transformation, she couldn't compare to the witch - no matter how strong she was, she was still a human."

"That's hard to say. Polly also used a prop just now." Ron took out the ice sapphire and activated the water control after performing a water-making spell on the life ring, drowning the three wargs around Sera in the water. "Okay, where is the leader? These ones on the ground don't look like him at all."

"It ran away," Driver lit an arrow with the help of a torch, drew his bow and shot in one direction, "Chase it!"

"This thing is extremely vengeful. If you don't want it to stalk us for the next few months, kill it!"

"I'll stop it!" Sylvia was instantly covered by a silver-white mist. When she reappeared the next second, she was already ten meters away. "Hounds, it's time to hunt!"

The huge wolf leader seemed to have sensed the crisis and made an evasive move in advance, but even so, a night hissing hound that emerged out of nowhere from the etheric plane still found it.

The panicked wolf leader was immediately bitten on the waist and abdomen by the hound. Unlike the desperate hound, the bite of the night hound did not come with biological attacks. Instead, it would use more incredible characteristics to directly bite through the mental defenses of the prey who were in fear!

"Ah--" The wolf, who had a chance to escape with injuries, only felt a sharp pain in his head. He only had time to let out a scream before he collapsed to the ground and died as if all his bones had fallen off.

"It seems that they are quite useful in dealing with creatures in the wild." Yelena put away the barbed chain. She had personal experience of the strength of these hounds.

"I'm surprised that you weren't scared when you first saw them." Sylvia leaned on her cane, turned her head to look at the shadow spirit, and then looked at Ron with a hint of reproach.

"You shouldn't have let her out, let alone let her hold a weapon."

"Hey, hey, hey, you don't want to get rid of me? I just put in a lot of effort." Yelena protested, showing the new wound on her arm.

"That's true," Constance handed the broken sword to Victoria, "If it weren't for her, I would have been in danger just now."

"You just won't change your weapon," Ivy curled her lips, "I just don't understand, what's the point of repairing weapons after every battle?"

"You'd better leave here before you talk about anything," the witch, who had disguised herself as an old woman, snorted, "If you delay until daytime, you won't just have to face the wolves."

Only one of her two red hats was left, and she was now taking off the iron boots from her companion's feet and putting them on herself.

The red hats will "emerge" from the victim's blood, but judging from the fact that the witch has no intention of replenishing the manpower, things may not be that easy. "I thought you were so strong," Sera grinned, "it seems that you are just so-so!"

Although the surviving Red Hat still retained its violent and bloodthirsty nature, it was unable to stand alone and could only bare its teeth at Sera, unable to utter a single harsh word.

Thanks to the magical container of the alchemical backpack, Ron and his team did a very clean job when cleaning the battlefield: they collected as much fur, meat, bones, and even blood as possible. If it was not difficult to preserve, they might have taken away the internal organs as well.

The result of this was that when they were away from the attacked area during the day, an earth-shaking roar of anger sounded from behind them.

"The sound of the owlbear," said Polly, gnawing at a piece of wolf heart with some gloating. "It must be mad - what kind of person would eat up all the bones?"

"It's probably a swampmaw," the dhampir said, holding the newly filled "water" bag in his hand. "We didn't keep any bones. We gave them all to you."

Compared with using it to make soup, the ghost woman can obviously make better use of it and make it into a variety of magical and bizarre props.

"Don't think I'm going to keep it for myself!" Polly glared at her. "At our rate, we'll be close to our destination in a few days. I have to make enough amulets - the energy of the abyss isn't safe even for me!"

During the second half of the journey, perhaps because the bloody smell of the team was too strong, there were almost no wild beasts or monsters that targeted them for hunting. There were some miniature dragons that followed them curiously in the dark, but they were neither hostile nor overly close.

"Those little guys are pseudo-dragons. I would be happy if they were willing to be my familiars," the witch looked away and handed Ron a talisman made of wolf bones, "but unfortunately, I can't talk to them."

"They won't tolerate being treated maliciously, and you'll probably never understand them." Sylvia, on the other hand, could easily attract two or three little creatures that looked like miniature red dragons with a small piece of bread and feed them like pigeons.

"Too bad they have no interest in being my familiars - I actually like their kind personalities, telepathic abilities, and resistance to magic."

"That's really a pity." Ron also tried to bribe the pseudo-dragons with food, but these creatures raised the poisonous stings on their tails to him, which made him very frustrated.

Why is this happening?

"If you really want to bribe one, just let me, the witch, and Yelena leave," Driver made a face at the two pseudo-dragons not far away. "That must be why they don't think you are good people."

As soon as these words were spoken, the pseudo-dragons in the forest suddenly became excited. They made animal-like noises, as if they were exchanging opinions with each other.

"They can understand Common and Draconic, but cannot speak them," Sylvia explained. "So in addition to telepathy, they communicate with other animal sounds: a rough grunt indicates pleasure, a hissing noise means an unpleasant surprise. Bird-like chirps indicate desire, and growls often mean dissatisfaction and anger."

Ivy had a weird expression on her face: "Uh, if my ears are correct, they are making a hissing sound now, right?"
