Chapter 183: Wolf Pack Night Attack
Chapter 183: Wolf Pack Night Attack
"Be careful!" Polly turned around and shouted at the two red hats, "These are our guests and employers!"
"After losing your Nighthound, you used this thing to help you?" Sylvia twirled her cane and looked at the two small fey with interest.
They looked like shriveled, hunchbacked, muscular dwarfs, wearing pointy red fur hats, trousers of similar material, and heavy iron boots.
This is a kind of fey that has bloodlust rooted in its survival instinct. They must dip their hats into the blood of their victims at least once every three days, otherwise they will disappear from the world as if they had never existed.
"As you can see," Polly looked at the dhampir with disgust, "they are not as useful as the hounds, but they are the few helpers I can find now."
"I am just an old woman who lives alone. It is difficult for me to protect myself without help. Don't worry, there are plenty of prey in the wilderness. I will not attack you just to feed them."
"I hope so." Ron glanced at the Red Hat. These two evil elves, who often appeared in the stories of this world, immediately raised their giant sickles, waved them at Ron threateningly, and made strange "hissing" sounds.
"Let's get going quickly," Sera narrowed her eyes and stared at the two red hats, "I'm just as eager to kill something as these two guys are."
"If I can't find the owlbear and the warg, I'm afraid I'll just have to use these two little guys to fill my teeth!"
"Just try! I will drown you in your blood!" The red hats protested to Sera unwillingly. If Ron and Polly hadn't pulled them apart in time, the three of them would have started fighting.
But this incident did not happen due to the intervention of several "good monsters". As Ron and his companions gradually explored deeper into the forest, as the sky gradually darkened, pairs of yellow, green, red or blue eyes lit up from the deep forest under the illumination of the ever-burning torches, reflecting strange light.
"Wolves," Driver took down his bow and arrows. His eyes could see clearly even in the dark. "There are even many kinds, from common gray wolves to large wargs."
"There are even a few desperate dogs - it seems they are eyeing our piece of fat meat."
"What is the Desperate Hound? Where is it?" Ron and Sera looked around blankly, but without dark vision, they couldn't tell which pair of eyes belonged to which creature at a distance.
"There, do you see those two pairs of eyes that are very close to each other?" Victoria's pupils were covered with a thin layer of twilight halo. She pointed in a direction with her finger. "Those are evil two-headed hounds, ready to attack travelers and adventurers at any time to get a feast of fresh meat. Their saliva carries filthy germs, and the wounds bitten by them will gradually erode and rot."
"But it's a bit strange. Why do these creatures appear in the Delusion Land? This shouldn't be their habitat."
"There's nothing strange about this," the witch said with a hoarse laugh. "Some of these creatures were brought to this land by the former rulers. As time passed, their former masters disappeared, but these creatures that adapted to the environment thrived here and survived to this day."
"It looks like they treat us like a dish."
"What a coincidence! I was planning to eat them!" Sera snorted heavily, "Ron, let's just charge at them!" "As long as we make these beasts feel pain and know that we are not easy to mess with, they will retreat obediently!"
"If it were an ordinary beast, I would agree with you," the goblin hunter said sharply, "but didn't you see the wargs? So many wargs gathered together, there must be a leader behind them giving orders!"
"If we can't find that guy, we'll probably be caught by him."
The goblin waved his hand calmly, and several mice scattered under the cover of the dark night and vegetation. Their mission was not to attack the herd, but to act as scouts to find the hidden wolf leader.
"That's too much trouble," Sylvia curled her lips, and the top of the cane began to emit blazing flames, "Let's burn it out!"
"Fireball!"
When the huge fireball illuminated the entire area, the wolves did not seem to expect that their prey would take the initiative to attack. The weaker gray wolves and other wild beasts immediately died or fled, and the whole place was in chaos.
But monsters like wargs and death hounds were completely the opposite. After a brief period of confusion, they quickly gathered together and rushed towards Ron and others from all directions!
"Wolves and pigs rushing about, that's the way to describe this scene." Ron took out the flame gem and used the fireball spell to ignite the vegetation. Dozens of scorching rays accurately hit the monsters, causing them to howl one after another.
"Waaaaaaaa——" Red Cap and Sera almost simultaneously roared in excitement, recklessly charging towards the incoming beasts. The only difference was that the Red Caps did not understand or were unwilling to cooperate with Ron's team, charging purely on instinct, while Sera, in her frenzy, still did not forget to fight around Ivy and the others, using offense instead of defense to open up the situation.
"Connie!" When a huge wolf crashed into Ivy's tower shield, the warrior retreated half a step and took the impact. With a loud shout, Constance turned from behind her and used the sword in her hand to accurately pick open the blood vessels under the wolf's fur at the weak point.
A cunning and desperate dog tried to attack her from behind, but a kite-shaped shield came out from the side and the edge of the shield got stuck in the mouth of one of its heads.
"Bang!" The hard-headed hammer fell from a high place. Amid the vicious dog's wailing, three or five of its fangs were broken off, and many were loosened and damaged.
"Thorns!" Under siege, the goblin ranger hastily picked up an arrow with his mouth and rolled it to the side from under the wolf's mouth. Several hard thorns rose from the ground and trapped the wolf in a cage. Ron took two steps closer, and the flame gem almost shot three scorching rays at the wolf's head, exploding the huge wolf head into a ball of gorgeous blood.
Soon, these monsters discovered that there were fish bones in the fat meat in their mouths. Being smart, they naturally refused to continue fighting with Ron's team, but prepared to launch a sneak attack on the elderly individual who looked the weakest.
Since you can't eat it in one bite, you should at least bite off two pieces of meat, right?
However, they will soon find that they have hit a tough nut to crack.
