Chapter 137 The Ghost Woman’s Past

Chapter 137 The Ghost Woman’s Past

The witch's real body was unexpectedly heavy, and Ron and his team had to use almost all means to drag it to the dry shore.

The surviving witch gasped and collapsed to the ground. Ron noticed that she had a pair of shackles of unknown material on her ankles, and she was almost completely stripped naked, without any jewelry or spellcasting materials left on her.

This is quite rare for a species known for its strange magical powers.

"You seem to be seriously injured. Do you need me to treat you?" Victoria looked at the witch. "Positive energy?"

"No need," the witch took a breath and nodded to the people and dragons around her. "I didn't expect you would actually lend a hand. Is this admirable and noble? Or is it pathetic and stupid?"

She has lived on this land for a long time. She likes to mislead other creatures into the traps she designed and make them confused and lost. Sometimes she imitates the sound of calling for help to lure victims into the trap, and sometimes she imitates the calls of ferocious beasts to drive away uninvited guests.

In the early years, she had teased elves, robbers and bandits, and even frogmen and lizardmen. But she never thought that one day she would really ask for help in her own trap.

I never thought that I would actually have to rely on those "idiots" whom I had mocked in the past for a chance of survival.

"Maybe this is the punishment from 'Auntie'..." the witch muttered.

"Aunt, what aunt?" Ron looked at her, "I think you'd better explain your situation just now - I never thought that a witch like you would end up so miserable in your own home."

"Who did it?"

"Of course it's the more powerful hag." The hag stood up. Her two-meter-tall body was enough to look down at Ron and the others. "You can call me 'Rotten Polly' or anything else, as long as you can distinguish me from my sister 'Gloomy Sally'."

"If you are not in a hurry, why don't you come to my little house and sit down? I will treat you with the best tea and snacks - oh, I mean, the worst."

Ron and his friends accepted the invitation of "Rotten Polly" and followed her into a small house not far away that was submerged in a fantasy world. Polly kept her promise and brought out what she considered to be the "worst" tea and desserts - fresh black tea and honey cake without any corruption.

"My memory of making these disgusting foods is too vague," Polly took out a jar full of wasps from the cupboard. When she opened the jar, a large group of wasps immediately surrounded her and used the magic attached to the needles to sew up her wounds. "I still remember their appearance and taste, but knowing how to make them was before I was thirteen years old."

"It's still edible," Sylvia said, taking a small bite of the cake. "To be honest, this is already a surprise to me."

Although the witches were aloof and selfish, they would occasionally invite outsiders to visit, but the food they served was usually not to the guests' taste, such as poisonous apples, moldy cakes, and dirty and smelly tea... It was already very difficult for this witch to take out something that normal creatures could eat today.

"Now, can you tell me about your business?" Ron took a sip of his tea. The witch had added too much sugar to it. "I'm a new pioneer who wants to gain a foothold in the Land of Delusion."

"For a hag neighbor, I think the more I know, the better." "Just don't build a village or town in front of my house," Polly looked at the dead wasps with some distress, "The pioneers of Delusion Land come and go, and none of them have gained a firm foothold."

"I would really like to experience the joy of plunging this country into tragedy, but the forces here will disappear before that day comes."

"It seems you have lived for a long time?" Ivy glanced at her. "Do you know about Green Swamp Town? What role did you play in its destruction?"

"What role? God, I'm just an old woman who likes to tease and torture people. How can I destroy a town?" Polly stood by the newly lit fire. "If you must talk about roles, I'm just a bystander. Are you satisfied?"

"Did you see the whole thing?"

"No, my mother told me so," said Polly, searching her room till she found a pile of letters amid the jumble of things. "Oh, I found it."

"It seems that there are spellcasters among you, so you should not be too unfamiliar with the 'ghost gathering', right? Three ghosts get together to form a small group that helps each other. How 'warm' it is."

Polly gritted her teeth as she said this. It seemed that her small group brought her more than just "warmth".

"My mother was once a member of a gathering. She and her two sisters gathered together and acted as prophets who delivered evil prophecies." Polly picked out the letters one by one. She didn't open them, as if she only took a look to evoke her memories. "The elves found them, hoping to get information about the revival of some empire from them."

"Dealing with the witches, they are really good," Sera muttered, "Even I know that trading with you will not end well."

"But hags do know many things," said Ex-Zuri. "They are nearly immortal, living longer than even dragons and elves."

"We rarely ask for deals, they just ask for it," Polly laughed coldly. "Anyway, they got a secret - there is a powerful force buried underground in the Land of Delusion..."

"So I learned this from you," Ron nodded. "Those elves devised a clever plan, but ended up destroying themselves."

"It also destroyed my mother's original gathering," Polly sneered, "The witch who finally revealed the location suddenly exploded and died, and the other one almost suffered a similar fate. Although she escaped in the end, she was no different from being dead."

"As for the third one, she also failed to escape the fate of being implicated, but she had a unique advantage over the other two sisters - she once swallowed a pair of twins and transformed them into hags."

"She bestowed the curse and mission upon her daughters, requiring them to awaken her again at all costs. The two sisters had no choice but to do so..."
