Chapter 6 Hospital 5
He had already been dragged out by Cheng Yan, but blood was gushing from the wound on his foot, and everyone knew what that meant.

"No, my son! My son! Please save him! Aren't you a doctor? You can't just stand by and watch him die! Cut off his leg! Yes, that way he can live! I beg you!" Jiang Hongrong grabbed Cheng Yan, crying and shouting.

"Without the tools, I can't help you," Cheng Yan said helplessly.

Even with the tools, with so much blood lost from amputation, one couldn't survive in a place like this.

"It's all because of you! We came to the convenience store with you! If it weren't for you, my son wouldn't have gotten into this mess!" Jiang Hongrong pointed at Song Jinhe, her eyes filled with hatred.

Okay, okay, you can blame it all on her.

“I didn’t ask you to come along; you chose to get off the car yourselves,” Song Jinhe said coldly.

If her son had come out a little earlier, he wouldn't have been bitten. It wasn't her who was shouting, "Take more so that some unscrupulous people don't steal it all!"

"You can't leave him here, Xiao Cheng, I beg you, you must take him with you!" Jiang Hongrong cried out helplessly.

Shen Wu glanced at the approaching zombie, a fierce glint in his eyes. He openly dodged the zombie, but secretly pushed it towards Cheng Yan.

Seeing this, Zhang Yi's eyes widened and she shouted, "Watch out on the left!"

Cheng Yan was caught off guard and almost got pounced on in the face by the zombie. Fortunately, Zhang Yi reminded him in time, and he used his hand to block the zombie's head and pushed it away forcefully.

The zombies didn't pounce on them again; instead, they turned to the wailing youth on the ground.

"No, no! My son! It's all because of you that my son was killed!"

Jiang Hongrong stood frozen in place, not even noticing the zombie beside her, until it grabbed her hand and bit down.

"what--"

Peng Zhixue stared in terror at the zombies, his voice cracking as he shouted, "If we don't leave now, it'll be too late!"

Knowing he couldn't get into the car, Shen Wu pulled out a knife and yelled as he tried to stab Song Jinhe. Before the knife even reached her, he was hit by a stick.

Song Jinhe was holding a steel crowbar and used deadly force, instantly causing Shen Wu to bleed profusely from the head.

He screamed, clutching his head and backing away. Suddenly, his eyes widened in terror as he stared at the two zombies running towards him.

A face so familiar, with the gray and decaying look of the dead.

A chill ran down Shen Wu's spine. No, he had to leave this place, no matter what it took!
He doesn't want to die!

Shen Wu brandished his knife wildly in the air, shouting, "Either take me with you, or we all die together. You choose. Even if I die, I'll take one of you down with me!"

Song Jinhe lowered her eyes and remained silent.

Without a weapon, she might agree first and then figure out a way to deal with it. After all, dealing with a crazy person who has a knife, is mentally broken, and is willing to risk everything, could easily result in injury and her own death.

"You guys get in the car first, I'll sit here with him." Cheng Yan handed the keys to Peng Zhixue.

"That's more like it." Shen Wu thought they had backed down and smiled smugly.

The next second, Cheng Yan rushed forward and grabbed his knife-wielding hand, while Song Jinhe, holding a crowbar, coldly unleashed a barrage of attacks from behind.

Shen Wu's two sneak attacks failed, and he was no match for the opponent. Every time the crowbar struck his body, it felt like his bones were about to crack.
He started to back down and beg for mercy, "I was wrong, please stop hitting me. I just want to live."

"If I were you, I wouldn't expect the other party to compromise if I failed to use underhanded tactics."

Song Jinhe had never killed a fish in her entire life, but she knew very well that to survive in the apocalypse, she couldn't be soft-hearted towards someone who wanted to kill her and steal her car, no matter how sincere and pitiful their pleas for mercy were.

The zombie horde was upon them, and Shen Wu couldn't retrieve his knife. Song Jinhe turned her gaze away and quickly got into the car with Cheng Yan.

Hordes of zombies poured into the convenience store, followed by Shen Wu's shrill screams.

boom--

The burning car exploded, sending zombies flying through the flames and billowing black smoke rising into the sky. Outside the hospital, zombies that had been wandering aimlessly along the street immediately roared and surrounded the car, only disappearing from the rearview mirror as the car drove away.

The trees felled by the storm were left unattended, and garbage and debris were scattered everywhere on the ground. The vast city was eerily quiet.

Song Jinhe said she wanted to rest for a while and asked Cheng Yan to drive for a bit.

Something seemed off about her. She hadn't noticed it because of the tense situation in the hospital, but now that she thought about it, after killing that half-crippled zombie, she felt a warm sensation rising in her wrist.

Killing zombies can expand your space?

I didn't feel like the space had gotten bigger. Maybe I didn't kill enough zombies, so it wasn't obvious?

Those who have awakened their talents can increase their talent level by killing zombies and mutated creatures, but they need zombies and mutated creatures of the same or higher level.

Her spatial ability is not a talent.

Song Jinhe planned to find an opportunity to test a few lone zombies, because practice is the sole criterion for testing truth!

I just had a good haul at the convenience store. There were two boxes of bagged instant noodles (48 bags in total) and one box of bucket noodles (12 buckets in total).

One box of toast (24 bags), two and a half boxes of mineral water, and a total of 35 bottles of cola, juice, and bottled coffee.

Five lighters.

There were two piles of daily necessities and medicines, and four large bags of toilet paper alone. Everything was neatly organized and categorized. The remaining space could be used to store necessities such as clothes and shoes.

Once she gets through the initial period and finds stable accommodation, she can make many things herself.

The rooftop of a building not far from the hospital.

The man, holding binoculars, stared intently at the black smoke in the sky. "There are still living people in the hospital."

"He was alive just now, but he might not be now." The young man with a messy head of short hair lit a cigarette. "Unless a gifted person appears in the hospital as well."

In the week following the zombie outbreak, more than half of the people turned into zombies while suffering from high fevers, and only a very few were lucky enough to awaken their talents.

Not only do they possess abilities that ordinary people cannot match, but their physical fitness and recovery abilities are also stronger than those of ordinary people.

"Brother Wen," the burly man rushed up to the rooftop and hurriedly reported, "it seems like two SUVs just passed by."

Wen Ge put down his binoculars, his interest piqued. "When?"

"Just a few minutes ago, they seemed to have come from the hospital."

Brother Wen glanced at the short-haired youth, his expression meaningful, "In this kind of weather, they won't go far."

"Brother Wen, what do you mean?" The young man exhaled smoke.

“We need someone to go in and lead the way.” Brother Wen smiled. “Even if they’re not from the hospital, driving two such nice cars means they’re likely at a campsite.”

-

Looking at the desolate and dilapidated city, Peng Zhixue gripped the steering wheel tightly with both hands.

He had the car in his hands, and there was food and water in the trunk.

He stepped on the gas and drove off; no one could stop him.

After watching so many living people being torn apart and devoured by zombies for so many days, he finally understood.

Cheng Yan and the others wouldn't save that mother and child. If the same thing happened to him, they wouldn't save him either. The person upstairs who cried for help knew Song Jinhe, but she still didn't care.
