Chapter 41 Hotel Supplies
"Brother, eat quickly."

In the dimly lit and cluttered room, a child's soft, sweet voice rang out, accompanied by the clatter of plastic bags.

The girl, her face smeared with black ash, ate the cookies in big bites. This flavor, which was unsaleable before the apocalypse, is now food that people have to risk their lives for.

The boy took the cookie and ate it slowly, as if savoring it. "Those people have already left. They cleared out the zombies. I have to go out again. You stay at home and don't make a sound. Don't answer the door if anyone knocks, understand?"

The girl's round eyes welled up with tears as she looked at the boy. "Can I go with you?"

"No."

The boy refused without hesitation. They had been a little slow yesterday, and if those people had caught up, they might have been killed.

The boy gently patted the girl's head and calmly said, "Don't cry, little kids will die if they cry."

The girl's tearful eyes froze, and she became even more frightened, but she dared not cry.

It seems like everyone I knew before was caught and eaten by monsters after crying.

"I will return."

-

Song Jinhe and his group found a long-established star-rated hotel, where the scene was exceptionally tragic.

It's clear that there were survivors living here before, but now there are only zombies. Many of the zombies don't have bite marks or scratches, only knife wounds and impact wounds.

They died from internal strife.

There were still plenty of supplies in the warehouse, so it didn't look like it had been robbed.

When Song Jinhe came in, she noticed that someone was secretly watching them from the shadows.

However, there are many people here, so anyone who wants to rob someone should think twice.

While everyone was moving supplies, Song Jinhe frantically stockpiled rice, flour, oil, sugar, salt, a whole unopened carton of cheese, a large ham, and a lot of alcohol, since the Molotov cocktails were used up too quickly last time they dealt with the zombie horde.

The spoils from this trip will last us a long time.

While searching the administrative office area, in the most luxurious office, Song Jinhe found an unsharpened decorative knife.

"Straight blade, with the tip curving upwards, the standard design of the Embroidered Spring Blade." Upon closer inspection, you'll find it has a very good texture. "It's not an industrial product; it's the real deal, except it's not sharpened."

Her grandfather used to have a private museum. Before he passed away, he donated all the collections. He also commissioned an old craftsman to replicate an ancient sword to ward off evil spirits, which is why she had to come out.

"Wow, this knife is so cool!" Qi Sixing suddenly rushed in, his eyes shining. He almost couldn't resist snatching it to take a look. What boy doesn't dream of martial arts and like this kind of cool and stylish weapon?

"It's a pity it wasn't sharpened, otherwise I can't even imagine how cool it would look to hold it. But how come you, a girl, know so much about knives?"

Song Jinhe looked at him like he was an idiot. "There are exhibits in the museum, why can't we understand them?"

Qi Sixing stared longingly at the knife in Song Jinhe's hand. "Little sister, how about this, I'll trade you something for this knife. It's not sharpened anyway, so you can't use it."

“No trade.” Song Jinhe refused without hesitation.

Who says she can't use it?

Even if it's not sharpened, you can sharpen it yourself. Once sharpened, this knife is much better than any watermelon knife or cleaver.

Moreover, she was the person with the most supplies present.

Qi Sixing, unwilling to give up, asked again but was ruthlessly rejected, and then sighed sadly.

Why is it that she always finds the good stuff first?

Song Jinhe, carrying a knife, ran to the rooftop with Jiang Shi'an to scout ahead. Through their binoculars, they saw only a desolate city, wandering zombies, and roads blocked by corpses. The roads leading to the biopharmaceutical factory were all in poor condition, requiring passage through the lowest-lying area in the middle, making it impossible for vehicles to pass.

It's not that we can't go around it, but it will take an extra day.

“It’s a bit strange. Before we arrived at this hotel, there was an area that had been ransacked beyond recognition. That was a vegetable market.”

“It’s not a medium-sized gang, it’s just like yours.” Jiang Shi’an’s voice was slightly deep.

Song Jinhe nodded. "The list of drugs and biochemical materials you wrote before can't hold many, unless you get a suitable car on the road."

Cars aren't hard to find; the streets are full of abandoned vehicles. The real problem is not being able to drive them out. We can't all carry sacks and run out like gold miners.

It would be better to catch a few zombies and carry supplies.

"Get ready to leave." A voice came through the walkie-talkie.

Zhuang Ting and his team didn't find much else at the police station, but they did find a few walkie-talkies.

Going upstairs was tiring, and going downstairs was tiring too. Song Jinhe first threw her belongings into her spatial storage, and only took them out when she was about to go down.

The small truck, loaded with supplies, was neatly reversed and moved out of the hotel's fire lane.

We had just driven down one street when we came to an uphill road. The open view made me feel uneasy.

Song Jinhe's expression suddenly changed drastically.

"Turn right, quick!" she warned into the walkie-talkie. "Something seems wrong up ahead!"

The moment she spoke, Cheng Yan didn't hesitate for a second and drove off in a sharp turn.

The truck stopped briefly in the middle and then turned around.

"Are you alright?" Han Hui's voice came through the walkie-talkie.
"Don't give orders if you don't have anything to do. Didn't you see that the right-hand path was full of zombies when we came here? Why not take the usual route and make things more difficult for yourself?"

He knew this road very well. Turning right led to the residential area and the school. The floodwaters had reached the second floor, and all the furniture and appliances had been washed out. How did he get there?
This is no way to court death. I'm not afraid of god-like opponents, but I'm afraid of teammates who let me down.

He rolled down the car window and peeked out.

There's nothing ahead.
Holy crap!!! There's something wrong with this.

Han Hui had already driven past, and if he wanted to turn right, he would have to back up, because the massive army of zombies ahead wouldn't wait there.

They roared and swarmed forward. The pile of zombies that had been hit by the car made it difficult to drive even off-road.

"Why didn't you follow me?" Qi Sixing was stunned by the zombie who slammed his hand against the window and grinned at him with his yellow teeth.

If we were completely surrounded by the zombie army, any car would be overturned and we would only be waiting to die. Han Hui was also extremely anxious. "How the hell should I know that the right turn she mentioned is not a good road!"

boom--

The roof of the car was dented, and a zombie jumped onto the car.

Zhuang Ting had just rolled down the car window a little and driven out, killing two zombies, when a withered hand swept past. If he hadn't leaned back quickly and fired several shots to repel the zombie the moment its head popped out and tried to burrow inside, he would be dead by now.

The putrid liquid splashed into the car, but before they could even feel nauseous, all they wanted to do was get the zombies out of the car as quickly as possible.

After going through countless hardships to finally turn right, the zombies on the roof of the car were like leeches that wouldn't leave.

The car sped along, but the zombies remained resilient, scratching incessantly at the roof with their fingernails, as if they were about to tear through the metal and wreak havoc inside the car.

Song Jinhe was quite surprised to see in the rearview mirror that a zombie with dyed yellow hair was clinging tightly to the roof of the car, twisting and darkly trying to remove it.
