Chapter 33 Zombies in the Mist
Shen Li quickly ran out and woke Yu Guang up from the bed. "There's a sound on the balcony. Go check it out. Is it the bat from before?"

Yu Guang was jolted awake from his sleep. The images of how many people the bats had killed at the resettlement site were still vivid in his mind.

He quickly grabbed the iron bar and looked outside. There were some withered potted plants on the balcony, and he could only make out their outlines. He looked from left to right but didn't find anything unusual.

He turned around, grabbed a flashlight, and cautiously pushed open the balcony door to look outside.

The beam of light was instantly swallowed up by the damp, cold mist. All around was quiet; there wasn't even the sound of birds or insects.

Yu Guang stood behind the railing and breathed a sigh of relief. He complained to Shen Li, "Don't make a fuss over nothing. You scared me. There was no sound at all, not even a ghost."

As he spoke, he leaned forward and looked down.

A cold wind and moisture drifted through the darkness, seemingly carrying a strange, fishy stench.

Yu Guang felt a chill run down his spine and was about to back away when, before he could even raise his neck, a cold hand suddenly grabbed him.

Looking down, he saw a rotten mouth lunging at his face.

what! ! !
A scream pierced the heavy night fog, and blood splattered out.

After a brief moment of stunned silence, Shen Li screamed in despair, "Help! Someone, help! No!"

How could this happen? The person who was just talking to her was perfectly fine a moment ago. How could this kind of thing happen to them!
Shen Li trembled all over, crying out in despair and helplessness that she wanted her son to hide, which was the only thing she could remember.

"Don't come in! Get out! Get out!"

Heart-wrenching cries mixed with the stench of blood echoed throughout the house. Those who heard the noise packed their belongings and moved to more enclosed rooms, while outside, the sounds of banging grew louder and louder.

Villa No. 6 is located on the other side, not far from where the accident happened, but the sounds from that side don't reach this side.

Song Jinhe has been having trouble sleeping lately, and she stayed up almost all night until the early hours of the morning, watching the light gradually filter through the curtains.

It was already dawn, but her eyelids were so heavy she just couldn't fall asleep. Living in an environment shrouded in fog for so long, the pressure that had been weighing on her heart finally couldn't be suppressed any longer.

Those who died before her, screaming and collapsing, along with the piles of rotting corpses and those who died at her hands—in the dead of night, as darkness descended, the unease in her heart was like boiling water that could not be calmed.

Some people who have come from the battlefield suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder, and rescue workers who have been to severely disaster areas may also have psychological problems that require treatment.

To survive in this world, one must face not only the disasters themselves, but also oneself.

Song Jinhe closed her eyes, mentally preparing herself again and again. She decided to keep herself busy during the day and resolutely not catch up on sleep, ending the vicious cycle of thinking too much at night and not being able to sleep, and not wanting to get up during the day.

As I sat up, I sensed a group of dark zombies approaching from the doorway and to my left. The one in front even had the same hairstyle as Dora the Explorer.

It's rising so fast...

There's no need to be so busy, is there?
It seems he's not in good condition and lacks energy; using his talent causes a slight throbbing pain in his brain.

Song Jinhe hurriedly put on her coat and shoes, walked quickly to the master bedroom on the same floor, and knocked on the door with her fist clenched.

"Jiang Shi'an!" She lowered her voice, not daring to knock too hard, the zombies were almost there, and she blurted out subconsciously, "Open the door! If you're so capable of fighting the zombies, don't hide inside and keep quiet, open the door now!"

The door opened, and Jiang Shi'an, his hair slightly disheveled, stood in the doorway, frowning as he demanded an explanation, "When did I hide inside without making a sound? I came right away as soon as I heard you knocking."

"Well, I just said it offhand, it just sounds good." Song Jinhe pointed towards the gate, "The zombies are coming, I'll go tell them."

In less than two minutes, the four people in the villa arrived at the study with the best view.

By this time, they could already see the silhouettes of zombies through the white mist. Thump—

Several zombies fell into the pit, and their companions fell in behind them, climbing out by stepping on their heads.

"The number is several times greater than what we had at the tavern. I can sense at least eighty or ninety of them, and there are more running this way." The roars coming from the zombies' throats were particularly clear to Song Jinhe, who was using her talent, and they sent chills down her spine.

“All the windows are made of multi-layered soundproof tempered glass, so it won’t be easy for zombies to get in. As long as we stay inside and don’t make a sound, we should be fine, right?” Cheng Yan asked.

"That's not necessarily true, listen to me."

As soon as Song Jinhe finished speaking, they heard hysterical screams from humans not far ahead.

Just by listening to the sounds, you can imagine how desperate they are over there.

The second line of defense they set up, the wooden stake traps, came into play at this moment, and many zombies were impaled and unable to move forward.

But they will use a swarm of corpses to overwhelm you, and there are gaps between the wooden stakes.

Compared to other houses, their situation is considered good.

At this moment, at Villa No. 2.

The fifth wooden stake was broken by the zombies, who blocked the gate completely, scratching incessantly with their fingernails.

If that were all, Zhuang Ting and the others wouldn't be in such a hurry. Two zombies with amazing jumping ability ran out from the middle of the zombies and were able to bypass the wooden stakes. They stepped on their companions' bodies and climbed up the wall with a little effort.

If a special zombie discovers humans, it means that a group of ordinary zombies have also discovered humans.

"It's in!"

"Holy crap! What is that thing that old Deng is holding?! It's actually trying to smash the window with a rock." Qi Sixing picked up his crossbow and fired an arrow at the zombie.

The zombie managed to dodge, so they had to go out into the yard to deal with the zombies that had entered and guard the house.

Song Jinhe watched as the zombie at the bottom of the pit was trampled by its own kind, half of its body turned into rotting flesh, yet it was still trying to climb up.

Cheng Yan exclaimed in shock as he looked at the zombie whose arm had been torn open by the wire on the wall, "It's a zombie that can climb walls!"

Song Jinhe suddenly had a bad feeling and turned to run towards the terrace, but the zombie ran faster than her.

Barbed wire is no match for it.

Dealing with these twice as agile zombies is difficult without talent; Song Jinhe took out her pistol, focused intently, and the next second before pulling the trigger, she suddenly felt a sharp pain in her head.

Something's not right. What's going on? Song Jinhe looked around.

The bullet missed slightly; the zombie, its chest soaked in blood, was hit but didn't die.

It leaped toward Jiang Shi'an, who was blocking Song Jinhe's path, and opened its mouth to bite. Jiang Shi'an reacted quickly, grabbing the zombie by the neck and snapping it without expression.

An ordinary person would die long ago, but it was still lively and energetic, opening its mouth to eat.

Seeing this, Song Jinhe quickly went to help. This zombie's attack power was ridiculously strong. So far, she had never seen any zombie survive for so long in a one-on-one fight against Jiang Shi'an.
