Chapter 32: Fengyu Mountain God
Chapter 32: The Mountain God of Fengyu (Part 2)
The city's neon lights shone into the exhaust outlet of the tail flame.
Inside missile silo No. 3 at the Fengyu Military Base, a giant raises its head amidst the rusted shock-absorbing devices. The silo cover is nowhere to be seen, yet the sky remains obscured.
A fantasy flashed through his/her mind: he/she was strapped with forty-seven rockets, breaking through those intersecting orbits to touch the stars.
This fantasy was quickly dispelled by some bizarre and fantastical memories.
He remembered wielding his axe and shield before the Yellow Emperor at the foot of Changyang Mountain, moving the Taihang and Wangwu Mountains, and even meeting the First Emperor in a conch-shaped boat...
He still vaguely retains the memories of an ordinary person, but even his name, age, height, weight, and appearance have been lost.
He came here long ago and used various prosthetics to create the enormous body he has today.
The data transmitted from his prosthetic senses relentlessly bombarded his nerves day and night, causing his brain to constantly form new synapses, leading him to develop levitation and gradually adapt to his new body.
But he soon reached the limits of the biological brain. In order to control his increasingly large body, he added multiple neural centers, distributed throughout his torso, to accommodate his eight arms, twenty-six prosthetic eyes, and eleven olfactory sensors...
His old personality no longer fit his new life form. Countless ideas and consciousnesses wandering in the dark web crashed against him like a torrent. Those "human" personalities and cognitions that fit him remained, covering the reefs of his soul like barnacles and gray algae, gradually shaping a completely new him.
Now he is Xingtian, Kua'e, Juling, and Longbo...
The legends of giants in mythology formed real memories in his mind.
He often relied on visualization to harmonize his chaotic consciousness. Whenever he calmed down in the launch silo, he would let the "man without a path" from the Book of Strange Things become the dominant personality. This name seemed to resonate with some kind of deep-seated feeling in his consciousness.
But most of the time he was known as the "God of Fengyu Mountain" and honored as "Fangfeng Shi," perhaps because he once helped "Gun" steal "Xirang" from the heavens. "Xirang" was the complete set of equipment for building the spiritual realm. "Gun" left, and he was punished.
His memories were confused, but he didn't need to trace the source. The people of Fengyu offered him orange peels, green beans, and tea leaves harvested from their underground greenhouses, and they scavenged data from the dark web to support him. Now he was the mountain god of Fengyu.
He took one last look at the night outside the launch silo, stood up, and knew it was time to drive away the intruders.
……
Fangfeng approached Suge, his body massive yet not bulky. Everyone quickly moved aside, his enormous feet sinking into the gaps in the wrecked car body without causing any collision.
Sog looked up at the giant looking down at him. The three-colored Nuo mask was half-lit and half-shadowed, and the hill-like arched shoulders and back blocked the lights of the dome. Eight arms hung down on both sides of his body.
In the shadows, the two figures were vastly different in size, like tiny mortals looking up at the statue of a god.
For a moment, Suger almost forgot to breathe. At this moment, he witnessed firsthand that the gods and demons of this era did not only exist on the internet.
He felt his legs trembling, but fortunately, the Gu Diao's movement adjustment masked this fear.
Suddenly, the Gu Diao detected the movement of the artificial muscles on the giant's shoulders and back.
Sug leaped with his legs bent, and as he dodged, Fangfeng reached down to grab him. His massive size made his movements seem slightly slow, but his actual speed was astonishing.
Suger had dodged in advance, but his toes were still grazed by Fangfeng's tiger's mouth. If he had been a few milliseconds slower, his calf would have been broken.
Sug had held back when facing the Ghost Golden Sheep, but now he had no choice. He looked at Fangfeng's head and tried to establish a connection again.
The connection was established in just half a second.
Su Ge received additional sensory information and visuals, and his tense nerves relaxed. He realized that hacking into this so-called Fengyu Mountain God was not much more difficult than hacking into an aerial logistics drone.
The next second he realized something was wrong.
A flood of information rushed into his mind: he saw a wielding bronze axe and heard the deafening roars of an ancient battlefield. More importantly, he discovered that the head he had hacked could only control the neck and half a toe!
What is this thing? This thing doesn't just have one brain; it's as if multiple brains are controlling one body!
Sog was only distracted for a moment before Fangfengshi's clenched hand reappeared before his eyes!
Suge didn't have time to react, but fortunately, he relied entirely on the Gu Diao to control his body.
Gu Diao once again made a preemptive dodge, stepping on Fang Fengshi's tiger's mouth, using the force to jump backward, drawing a high parabola in mid-air, and stopping its body on the top of a cement pillar more than ten meters away.
He thrust the crowbar more than 20 centimeters into the concrete pillar with his other hand, and while hanging in mid-air, he raised his forearm and shot the loaded hook into the ventilation duct of the dome, securing the edge of the duct.
Just as Suger was about to use the force to rush into the ventilation duct and escape, another idea came to mind.
You can't run yet.
He swiftly retracted the grappling hook, forcefully pulled out the pry bar, and let it plummet to the ground.
During the landing, Su Ge realized that he and Gu Diao had just had a conflict in their decisions.
Gu Diao judged that escaping was the best option, but he chose to continue fighting.
He suddenly felt a little scared. If there hadn't been a conflict in the decision-making process, he might not have been able to distinguish which ideas were his own and which came from the Gu Diao.
With a thud, its feet landed, kicking up a cloud of dust. The Gu Diao's leg joints cushioned the impact and transferred it to its entire body.
A strong gust of wind dispersed the dust, and Fangfeng's large hand pushed aside the two car bodies and swept over again!
Suger suddenly looked up; this time, he was ready to connect all of Fangfeng's nerve centers.
The Gu Diao suddenly sensed a powerful magnetic constraint.
Fangfengshi's palm glowed with a vortex of blue light, just like when the hovercar captured him last time!
The problem was that the Gu Diao's movements suddenly became sluggish, and the 1,000 units of computing power were exhausted!
In an instant, Suger was grabbed and pulled into Fangfengshi's fist.
Not far away, Gui Jinyang breathed a sigh of relief.
He had initially suspected that the other party was a powerful digital life form, but now it seemed that he had worried too much.
……
Sog fell into complete darkness and could no longer perceive his surroundings.
He had successfully connected to all of Fangfeng's nerve centers, and then his mind went blank as he was overwhelmed by a flood of information.
The giants did not have a clear dominant consciousness; their sixteen nerve centers were filled with a mixture of consciousness, directing the various parts of their bodies, as if the dynasty had already died in name only, and the sixteen lords maintained a precarious order only through a subtle tacit understanding.
Sog couldn't understand how the giant had managed to maintain his consciousness from collapsing. His intuition was that shutting down just one of the nerve centers would be enough to shatter this fragile balance.
A series of breathtaking scenes unfolded before my eyes: giants of all shapes and sizes riding chariots, wielding axes and shields, drinking from rivers, and chasing the sun and moon...
Suger felt dizzy and lightheaded, his brain temperature rose sharply, and he felt like he was about to faint at any moment.
Just as he was trying to shut down a neural center, fragmented pieces of consciousness flashed through his mind:
The Breath of Earth Project, Fengyu Military Base, the counterattack in the Spirit Realm...
These words appeared in those mythical scenes, making him feel a little dazed.
