Chapter 3901 Creation of Flesh and Blood
Chapter 3901 Creation of Flesh and Blood
When the topic of war came up, the girls' expressions weren't very good either.
"The deployment of the two armies on the front lines is becoming more and more frequent, and the preliminary logistical preparations have been basically completed. Now it's a matter of who fires the first shot, or who crosses the border first."
I wouldn't be surprised if war broke out in the next hour. Aside from visiting Queen Diana, who is recovering, her father has been spending most of his time in secret conversations with people from the War Department in his study lately.
"What are Larousse III's plans? Is he really prepared to passively wait for the South to make the first move?"
Shade asked Galina, who shook her head:
"As far as I know, there are three different plans, but the specific implementation time is still uncertain. At most half a month, the earliest is tomorrow. The deciding factor now is actually the battle situation between the Duchy of Set and the Duchy of Milson in the Pantanal Swamp."
The two sides have been at war for three months since before the year-end holiday, and the situation remains tense. Both countries are probably waiting for the best opportunity.
Shad nodded and put the steak in his mouth:
“I promised Margaret I would visit her in Willendale before the war really breaks out, and it seems I need to act quickly.”
The girls knew exactly what Shade was going to do, but they didn't mind that Shade would make the Southern Princess completely "one of their own" at this time. The ladies of the Cavendish family even looked forward to Shade doing so.
Today is Saturday, which is the usual time for meetings. So after lunch, Shad and Dorothy left home and headed to the eastern part of Tobeskoye. Looking out of the carriage window at the city streets, the familiar city seemed to have changed little.
Both Father Augustus and Dr. Schneider were surprised that Shad had actually shown up today.
“When Luisa wrote to me yesterday, she said you hadn’t come home yet.”
"I came back this morning, and this trip can be considered a complete success."
The small section of tree root had been carefully stored in the basement by Shad. Shad also revealed the matter of the "moon egg" to the priest and the doctor, hoping that they could help think of a solution.
The doctor didn't have a good idea about this, and Father Augustus shared Danest's opinion:
"What you want to do is indeed to create life. A single seed is not life; only what grows after the seed sprouts is life. The areas of power we are currently exploring are all unrelated to this."
Although the moon and the earth both possess some power over life, the true power to 'create life' still belongs to the ancient god who created it—the Twilight Creator.
Although in mythology, humans and a few other humanoid life forms were not created by this Great Being, almost all other life forms were born from His hand. "If you want that seed to sprout, Detective, you should explore the realm of creation."
With Luvia absent, the other four members of the group had different understandings of the thirteen Old Gods. The Doctor and Dorothy agreed with the priest's view, and Dorothy even mentioned the "House of the False Humans" from over a month ago:
"Perhaps what you need is the Creation Room behind that door deep inside the House of the Pseudo-Humans."
"No way, I don't want to provoke that kind of thing again. Besides, this isn't a creation of life in the strict sense; the egg already has the foundation of a soul and a body."
When this topic came up, Xia De thought of a few more things:
"Speaking of which, besides the reproduction and growth in the realm of flesh and blood, 'invention and creation' in a broader sense is also related to that ancient god, right?"
Priest Augustus nodded, holding his teacup:
"Yes, the Church of Creation and Destruction, one of the Five Gods Churches today, is said to be related to the Church of Creation from ancient times. Well, actually, it's not new that all five churches are related to ancient god sects."
In modern times, due to the rise of the steam industry, people's understanding of 'creation' has focused more on the invention and improvement of mechanical creations, and they have paid less attention to 'the creation of life,' which is actually the source of all creation.
This led the doctor to think of something else:
“Detective, don’t you have the [Flesh and Blood] Spirit Rune? Your magical technique [Active Soil] is actually a standard magical technique in the field of 'Creation'.”
The [Flesh and Blood] rune comes from the Battle of Green Lake, and Laplace Howard really did engage in "human transmutation." Although his "human transmutation" was not about creating life out of thin air, but rather about modifying existing life to produce so-called "evolution," Shad still felt it necessary to go back to Green Lake Island and peruse those vast collections of books.
"Why does it feel like he's involved in everything?"
During the week that Shad was away from the city, the rest of the group were also engaged in their own activities.
Luvia's letter from Lomari arrived yesterday. She has already begun her training at the Prophet's Association headquarters and is expected to return in another week. It's hard to say whether she will be able to attend the next group meeting.
Dorothy finally finished writing all her manuscripts for the month. With Shad not home and Lacey busy, she wrote her manuscripts very quickly since she had nothing else to do on weekdays.
Last week, the priest retrieved a Poet-level relic. Although its security level was very low, its function was quite interesting. The relic was a pure gold hammerhead the size of a pendant. Strike any part of any creature with teeth, and it would force it to lose a tooth.
"I found it in a dental clinic where an ordinary dentist was profiting from it. I admit it's convenient, but the relic also has the negative effect of causing non-human teeth to grow, especially on toothless subjects, where this negative characteristic is bound to occur. Oh, the relic is called the 'Tooth Terminator'."
The doctor, meanwhile, muttered things like, "Dentists earn way more than psychologists."
The past week had been eventful for the doctor, but perhaps he was too lucky in his battle against fate, as his experiences this week were quite unfortunate:
"On Monday, I heard on the local black market that a batch of rare alchemical materials would be sold on Tuesday night in the northern suburbs of the city. I just wanted to go and join in the fun, but it turned out that the news was just a fake news released to double-cross the dealers."
More than ten people started fighting on the spot. I wanted to run, but the church had already heard the news and sneaked over from the outside. That night, more than thirty people were fighting, and it took me a lot of effort to escape back to the city.
The doctor complained:
“This kind of double-crossing is rare in big cities like Tobesque. The last time I heard about it was last summer.”
Dorothy suddenly realized:
“I know about this. When I went to buy things from old John after Shad left on Monday, he reminded me not to believe any news about rare materials being sold outside the city recently.”
Priest Augustus nodded in agreement:
“The church has been warning clergy members since last week not to go to the northern suburbs of the city unless necessary.”
So only the uninformed doctors got caught up in the trouble.
The Wind Rises has reached its 21st. Although the summer exam week is still a long way off, everyone has already begun completing their assignments and assessments for the semester. That day, the priest, the doctor, and Dorothy all submitted parts of their papers and coursework. Seeing that Shad had brought nothing but his cat, the priest asked curiously:
"Didn't Professor Denise tutor you in your paper during your week-long absence?"
In everyone's imagination, although Shad and the caretaker were going to explore the tower ruins, they couldn't possibly work all the time except for eating and sleeping; they must have had some free time. Unfortunately, Shad used his free time for other purposes, so he really didn't make any progress in his studies this week.
Dorothy could guess what was going on just by looking at Shad's expression. After the group meeting that afternoon, she even jokingly teased Shad:
"Did Professor Daniste take advantage of you a lot this week?"
"We discussed this at lunch. Dorothy, we shouldn't talk about others behind their backs."
"So you only like to flirt with girls from behind?"
"Dorothy, you're starting to sound like Lacia. Oh, it really is Lacia. Good afternoon, Lacia, I'm back from Mount Karas."
They had already used up all three extra opportunities to meet within the 21-day cycle last week, so only Dorothy appeared at Shad's house tonight.
Compared to Lacey, the writer was not so direct. After having dinner at a restaurant on Silver Cross Avenue, she and Shad walked the cat hand in hand under the streetlights, and she tentatively asked Shad if he would be willing to continue Saturday night classes starting this week.
Shad felt he could easily use the blood moon fairy tale "The Bloody Deception" that Danist had mentioned as his next lesson, but he knew very well that Dorothy was just being "polite" with him:
"Let's postpone the teaching for a while. After the short trip, I'll take care of a few things and then rest for a bit."
"That's not bad."
The blonde, blue-eyed girl looked at Shad under the streetlights, wishing she could walk this road home forever.
"Lascia and I are also preparing for our advancement to the tenth ring. Let's wait until we've completed the advancement before starting our next course. Aside from inviting Miss Reinhardt to our home and visiting Margaret, do you have anything else planned lately?"
"I also need to go to the top of the mountains to visit Sister Daphne. Something happened when I returned the flame last time. Anyway, if I go again in these two weeks, everything should be fine."
"Sister Daphne~"
Dorothy deliberately used an exaggerated tone, but she didn't mock the nun; instead, she smiled and remarked:
"When I was a teenager, I never imagined that the man I would fall for in the future would be like you."
"Dorothy, I..."
“No, no, I’m not blaming you. Lacey, I really am not blaming Shad, please don’t criticize me. Shad, what I mean is, the nun, Miss Reinhardt, and Margaret are all things that come later. At least tonight, you belong to me, right?”
