Days wandering around Hogwarts

Chapter 414 Going Camping

Chapter 414 Going Camping

On the shore of an uninhabited lake in the Alps, a small wooden house emerged from the pine forest.

Charles rubbed his waist. He had seen other people build wooden houses very quickly before, but only when he really did it himself did he realize how troublesome it was.

Gabrielle cheered and jumped for joy, unable to wait to go in.

She had just helped a lot, such as singing to boost Charles' morale.

Charles took out an ancient magic lantern, cast a spell to light it up, and handed it to Gabrielle, saying, "Go in and hang it up."

Gabrielle ran into the cabin happily, holding the lamp.

The wooden house was not big, about two meters square, with walls and roof made of pine wood, and the ground was covered with stone slabs as thick as a palm. There was a bed on each side of the door, and a fire pit surrounded by stones in the middle. A nail was nailed on the wall opposite the door.

Gabrielle steadied the short ladder beside her, climbed up, and hung the lamp on the wall, lighting up the room.

Charles placed the two sleeping bags on the two beds, looked at the sky outside, and decided to prepare dinner.

The stove, charcoal, barbecue grill and ingredients were all bought from the supermarket, and the table and chairs were made of stones.

"How about I grill the lamb chops?" Gabrielle looked at Charles with shining eyes, looking eager to try.

Charles replied, "Okay, okay, I'll cook the noodles."

“Have you ever grilled before?”

Gabrielle shook her head and said, "No, so I want to try."

Simple grilled lamb chops are not difficult to make. Just add seasoning and marinate for a while, then turn them over the fire frequently.

Charles taught her to mix salt, black pepper, minced garlic, rosemary and thyme, rub olive oil on the lamb chops, then apply seasoning, marinate for half an hour, and then bake in the oven, turning them over every minute or so.

Gabrielle sat by the oven, staring at the lamb chops carefully and nervously, and turned them over as soon as the time came.

Charles boiled water nearby, added carrots and cucumbers, then cooked the noodles together, and then poured canned ketchup on them.

Gabrielle was hungry after a day of playing. She ate a lamb chop and then a large plate of noodles, and finally burped.

The air in the Alps is fresh and there is no light pollution. When night falls, the Milky Way and the stars are inlaid like gems on the black velvet curtain.

Charles and Gabrielle lay together on the grass by the lake, one telling nonsense stories about the stars and the other listening attentively.

After a long time, Gabrielle asked, "Shall we go to the mountain to see the lambs tomorrow?"

There are many mountain goats living in the Alps. They climb up almost vertical cliffs. Gabrielle saw them for the first time on her way here today.

Charles replied, “Okay.”

Gabrielle cheered, then yawned.

Seeing that she was sleepy, Charles took her back to the cabin, arranged a group of stainless steel Shanghai dolls to guard the surroundings, and went to the supermarket in the nearby town to buy food for tomorrow.

The next morning, Gabrielle watched Charles make breakfast outside the house, occasionally glancing at the stone oven that had been finished the night before.

She asked Charles, "Shall we go hunting?"

Charles shook his head and said, "No, this is a nature reserve. Hunting is not allowed, but fishing is allowed."

Gabrielle asked again: "What is a nature reserve?"

Charles explained it to her and she finally understood what was going on.

After they finished their breakfast, Charles took out his broom and took Gabrielle to the place where they found the mountain goat yesterday.

Charles cast an invisibility spell so that they wouldn't be seen by wild animals or other people.

On the way, they encountered several wolves chasing a blue sheep.

"Faster! Faster!" Gabrielle screamed nervously, "Run faster!"

There was an almost right-angled cliff in front of us, and several wolves were driving the mountain goats down below.

Gabrielle asked Charles, "Can you defeat those wolves?"

Charles said seriously: "You can, but you can't."

"We are guests in the mountains. We can only observe and not interfere with nature." Gabrielle could only continue to cheer for the ibex.

The ibex ran to the foot of the cliff, jumped up to the not-so-steep part of the foot of the mountain in two steps, and then began to climb up.

The wolves were a step too late and wanted to rush over to pull the ibex down, but the ibex had already climbed very high and the wolves could not reach it.

Gabrielle cheered when she saw the mountain goats continue to climb up the cliff while the wolves could only circle around in vain below.

The two of them watched the blue sheep climb to the top of the cliff, eating a clump of grass growing in the cracks of the rocks halfway, and then went to the place where they saw a large group of blue sheep yesterday.

However, no one knew where the herd of mountain goats had disappeared to, and there were only a few wild rabbits grazing at the foot of the mountain.

"Can we go play with the rabbit?" Gabrielle asked Charles, pointing at the rabbit.

Just as Charles was about to say yes, a lynx rushed out from somewhere nearby, caught up with a hare and bit it.

"Wow!" Gabrielle exclaimed, "The rabbit is going to be lunch!"

Then she asked, "Shall we have rabbit for dinner?"

Charles thought about it and remembered that the supermarket sold rabbit meat, so he agreed.

"Swan!" Gabrielle found something fun again, "Hurry up, follow it!"

A few swans flew over their heads, and Charles immediately followed, flying side by side with the one closest to him.

Gabrielle reached out and touched the swan's wings and screamed with excitement.

"Can swans be eaten?" Gabrielle asked again.

Charles replied: "You can't eat swans. You can only eat geese bought in the market."

Gabrielle said, "How about we have rabbit today and roast goose tomorrow?"

Charles is no problem at all.

The swans landed just across the lake from their cabin, and Charles followed suit, landing on the grass by the lake.

Gabrielle asked Charles for some bread and called the swans to the water's edge.

A few minutes later, Charles rescued Gabrielle from the swan's beak.

"How about we have roast goose today and roast rabbit tomorrow?" Gabrielle asked.

Charles said, "The roast goose needs to be marinated overnight. It's too late to eat it today. Let's eat the roast pork elbow tomorrow. I'll teach you how to make roast goose and roast rabbit, okay?"

He went to buy some pork elbows last night while Gabrielle was sleeping, marinated them when he came back, and even made an oven with stones on a nearby mountain. It would be a waste if he didn't eat them since there's no refrigerator here.

Gabrielle said, "Okay, teach me how to make roast pork knuckle!"

Charles naturally agreed.

Gabrielle immediately discovered something interesting. There were many birds in the forest, such as European Pied Flycatcher, Tree Pipit and Crossbill. She took Charles to look for them following the sound.

After playing in the afternoon, Charles took her back to the cabin and taught her that the pork elbow should be steamed first, then holes should be pricked on the pig skin and vinegar should be brushed on it so that the skin would become crispy when baked.

In the evening, Charles took Gabrielle to buy goose, rabbit and vegetables, and taught her how to mix different spices and how to marinate the meat.

Meanwhile, in France, Fleur returns home in high spirits.

She completed all the summer training ahead of schedule and was able to leave school earlier than other students to go home for the summer vacation.

But Furong saw that the house was dark and no one was there.

In the living room, there was a note under the pot of dancing grass. Gabrielle wrote it to her parents, informing them where her grandmother was and that she and Charles were going abroad for a few days and they didn't need to worry.

"Gululu..."

She had rushed back from Beauxbatons without having dinner, and now her stomach was growling with hunger.

I looked around the house and found only tea and coffee.

Furong was silent for a long time.
