The Most Powerful Brain in the Interstellar Space
Chapter 6 Doubt
Chapter 6 Doubt (Part 1)
This day was probably the most outrageous day in Jiang Hui's otherwise "ordinary" life.
“Ms. Jiang, Ms. Jiang, are you alright? Nod if you can understand me, or you can just say it… I’m Fry, an intern therapist in Ward 3, Surgery Department, G Floor, District Central Hospital.” A tall man with brown hair and brown eyes stood to the side and asked with concern.
Upon returning to the world, Jiang Hui felt a wave of unease, her mind buzzing, and she couldn't quite process what was happening.
However, her ears acted before her brain, and she keenly caught some keywords.
"Hospital," "Surgery Department," "Treatment Room"... Someone brought someone to the hospital?! She's saved?
Jiang Hui's first thought was, "She just came out of that unfamiliar place like that? She's already escaped that strange and dangerous situation? Where is she now?"
She felt that most of her discomfort had subsided, especially the sharp pain in the back of her head, which had completely disappeared. Her temperature, which had been completely unbalanced before she lost consciousness, now seemed to have returned to normal, and she felt generally quite comfortable.
But there is still some discomfort in my body. Although the sharp pain has subsided, it has now turned into a stabbing pain for some reason, and my whole brain feels swollen, making it difficult to concentrate.
"Could you please go and fetch the G-A3KV4 agonist? There might be an antigen reaction during the healing process of her head wound." The foreign doctor, who claimed to be some unknown person, seemed to be instructing someone to bring the medication.
Jiang Hui thought that she really needed medicine right now, preferably something to relieve the subtle pain she was experiencing. But when did hospital medications start having serial numbers and formulations that sounded so mysterious? Were they newly developed drugs?
After a while, she felt someone gently pressing on her shoulder. As if instinctively knowing what was about to happen, Jiang Hui immediately tried to struggle, but she was too slow. The thin tube pierced the skin under her neck, and a bright blue liquid was injected. But as the medicine entered her body, Jiang Hui felt the pain that had been plaguing her gradually dissipate.
After a long while, Jiang Hui's mind, like a turbulent sea, finally calmed down a bit, and her thoughts became much clearer. She opened her eyes—this time, she was completely clear-headed.
"You're awake." The foreign doctor looked at her with some understanding, and this time his tone was very certain.
Jiang Hui felt pressured by the fact that she was lying down while the other person was standing, so she struggled to sit up.
"Ms. Jiang, please wait a moment. The medicine has not completely dissolved yet. Sitting up like this may affect your body's absorption."
Upon hearing this, Jiang Hui had no choice but to stop and lie back down: "Doctor, where am I?"
This time, it was Fry's turn to be stunned. The patient's first reaction upon waking was to ask this? Shouldn't she be asking about her own condition? And "Doctor..." What kind of ancient way of addressing someone is that? Could this Miss Jiang have really damaged her head?
However, he could still meet the patient's small need, so he said, "Ms. Jiang, you are currently at the District Central Hospital. You suffered a severe head injury, with impact to both lobes of your brain. Although it hasn't been diagnosed as functional damage yet, it's not impossible. You should rest well first." What District Central Hospital? Does her district even have such a hospital? Jiang Hui subconsciously felt that something was wrong, everything was wrong, her mind was filled with strange thoughts, and the reality she was in had this strangeness and that strangeness.
"I...I want to go home. I want to go home." The girl lying on the treatment bed suddenly tried to sit up as if possessed. This time, even Frye couldn't stop her. She sat up abruptly, unable to maintain her balance, and forced her legs to touch the ground, managing to sit up abruptly.
The result was naturally unsatisfactory; it was only thanks to Frye's help that she didn't lose her balance and fall down.
"You're not done yet!" Fry was a little annoyed. Although he was only an intern therapist, he was capable of working as a therapist in a district-level hospital and taking charge of a patient's follow-up treatment on his own, which was enough to show his ability, given that he had only graduated a year ago.
But precisely because he was only an intern therapist, his mindset hadn't yet been tempered like that of a full-fledged therapist. His heart was still fiery, and he couldn't remain calm in the face of everything. Naturally, he couldn't stand seeing a patient like Jiang Hui, who seemed to be acting willfully, and of course, he was more anxious than anything else.
This Ms. Jiang is really too young. Does she even know that she just went through a life-or-death experience a few days ago and almost died that night?
Moreover, the area where she was injured was extremely sensitive. The brain has always been the most taboo subject for humans, and from ancient times to the present day, humanity has been unable to fully understand it. What's more, the brain is recognized as one of the main sources of spiritual power, and Jiang Hui, as someone who has not fully awakened, should be even more careful; a slight mistake could lead to lifelong regret.
Jiang Hui reflexively shrank back after being scolded by Fry. The other person's tone easily reminded her of her homeroom teacher's lectures many years ago. Even though she had been out of school for a long time, she would still instinctively obey. But after a series of actions, she had already sat up steadily with her legs on the ground. It would be redundant to push her back down now.
"Now that you're up, I'll give you a thorough check-up so you can recover quickly and go home sooner," the doctor named Fry said to Jiang Hui. He told her to stay put and not wander off, then turned and went to a small, nearby auxiliary room to prepare things, probably medical equipment.
Jiang Hui was left behind, looking completely bewildered, still not quite understanding what was going on.
The girl looked around at her surroundings. The so-called ward was quite large, easily over a hundred square meters, with large medical machines of unknown purpose placed around the room, covered with characters she couldn't understand. The room was predominantly white with an indescribable metallic color, and the materials on the walls and floor had an inexplicable futuristic design, giving it more of a feel than... a laboratory? A very high-end one at that.
Jiang Hui's mind raced, and she thought of many things. Then, the foreign doctor named Fry pushed a cart full of strange medical instruments over. She noticed that one of the strange instruments had an extension that resembled a long needle, which gleamed with a sinister light in the brightly lit space, sparking all sorts of thoughts.
From an angle where the other person couldn't see, her hands behind her back suddenly tightened, her thin arm muscles twitching as if she was suppressing some kind of impulse.
