The Most Powerful Brain in the Interstellar Space
Chapter 381 Meeting Again
Chapter 381 Meeting Again
The library at Besca Intermediate Academy closes quite early, making it one of the most "unusual" libraries among those that stay open until midnight or even 2 a.m.
This is also related to the school's educational style. Besca Intermediate Academy encourages students to go to bed early and get up early, because they need to rest well in order to learn better.
Therefore, their school's activity areas close relatively early in the evening, unlike other schools that provide 24-hour study areas to prevent students from lingering outside too late. For example, the library, which is closer to the teaching area, usually closes at 9:30 pm and does not allow students to visit.
It's only a little past eight or nine o'clock now, it's not closing time yet.
Normally there would be a decent number of people lingering around this time, but tonight there were far fewer—so few you could count them on one hand. The caretaker suddenly remembered that there seemed to be some kind of event in the square today, and the children had probably all gone to join in the fun.
Actually, only guys like Jiang Hui, who are oblivious to everything else, regularly come to the library to find books to read.
"Is it closing time yet?" Carlo asked without turning his head.
"There's still more than half a week left." The administrator shook his head.
"Let's leave it at that for now and close the library later. Otherwise, it wouldn't be good if students who come specifically for this purpose were turned away outside." Carlo's purpose in coming here was to provide students with a good reading environment. He didn't want to make things convenient for himself but block other people's way. Even if it was just for a few nights, it didn't feel right.
The administrator nodded and said nothing more. The two of them rushed to the mecha section and began to organize the equipment.
Fortunately, there was no one around, which saved them a lot of trouble in the screening process.
The school found such a highly skilled instructor; he was incredibly capable. However, a single glance was enough to tell it was an outdated, unsuitable version. The administrator watched as he checked off books one by one on the dedicated system, marking unsuitable books for filing and then removing them one by one.
The reason the librarian was able to become the librarian here is obviously because they didn't just have any major; they actually studied information management systems, specializing in library management. This kind of job is very lucrative and is considered a government-affiliated position.
His job is not simple either; it's not just about sitting at an automated sorting station processing books every day.
He also needed to manage the entire library; in fact, he knew every single book in the library and its location. Therefore, Carlo's life was indeed much easier with his help.
Of course, the librarian only knows the current state of the library's books, but cannot possibly know the contents of every single book. He can only add new books as needed, not select truly suitable titles. This requires the involvement of faculty from various disciplines to provide appropriate book lists.
The librarian knew the school didn't prioritize library management, and he himself had mentioned twice requesting a review, but there had been no concrete action. This time, the action was likely due to the senior faculty member speaking up. He was pleased with this and became even more diligent in assisting with the screening process.
“…No, that section shouldn’t be in the Mechanical Automation section; it should be merged into the Mecha section. Otherwise, students will easily miss this part of the content, causing a gap in their knowledge,” Xie Da murmured. He asked the administrator to grant him permission to move all the books in that section over. He wanted to select the books related to the mecha branch and re-merge them into the Mecha section.
The administrator checked the time and realized it was almost closing time. The access terminal was at the front desk, so he could go over and handle it together.
That book-loving student seems to have left, right? The librarian glanced at the spot where the student had been standing and at the entire novel and biography section, but there was no one there. He guessed the student had left; the entire library was now empty.
Thinking this, the administrator quickly walked towards the front desk. He didn't see Jiang Hui, whom he thought had already left, walking between two shelves on the side, a book tucked under her right hand, heading towards the familiar mecha section. The two were in a blind spot, so neither saw the other.
After reading several novels, Jiang Hui felt as if her somewhat stagnant brain had come back to life, like a jammed machine getting lubricant, no longer as difficult and cumbersome as it had been a few days ago.
Hey... That's strange. Could it be that she really overworked herself by learning too much professional knowledge at once?! Turning around and reading some interesting novels immediately helped her recover, and she felt like her brain was working a bit better.
Jiang Hui felt like he just wanted to go back to his dorm and fight that half-finished mecha arm all night, to shake off the dazed state he'd been in the past few days.
But who on earth did this—read the book and just carelessly put it away, actually stuffing a copy of "A Brief Discussion on the Development of Mecha Forms" into the novel and biography section? It's completely out of place! This book is a rare, well-structured reference book in the mecha section; putting it here is just hindering other people's learning!
Jiang Hui glanced at it, but in the end she couldn't resist taking a hand to put it back where it belonged, even though it was almost closing time and she had to hurry.
Following her memory, she returned it to its original location. Before she could even put her hand down, she heard someone behind her say, "So it was here."
That was terrifying!!
Jiang Hui's back stiffened abruptly, clearly not expecting someone to speak suddenly behind her.
The other person seemed surprised that she was startled and quickly said, "Little girl, I'm sorry! I was just looking for this book and couldn't help but speak up when I saw it. I hope I didn't scare you."
Jiang Hui looked over and saw a young man who looked somewhat familiar standing behind him.
The other person was holding two or three books, which Jiang Hui glanced at and realized were the reference books she had previously complained about—the ones that were particularly difficult to use.
Not an administrator.
The library was staffed by two librarians who took turns on duty, both of whom Jiang Hui knew fairly well. The person in front of her was clearly not one of them, and judging from their attire, seemed more like a teacher. With this thought in mind, Jiang Hui noticed the name tag pinned to the person's chest.
This is a teacher, and a senior instructor at that.
Although this interstellar world has been separated from its home planet for many years and has entered a great new era, many things still originate from the old human culture. For example, the social relationship between students and teachers is largely the same as in the past.
Students generally have a certain degree of respect for their teachers. Even the most arrogant students will politely greet their teachers after class.
Jiang Hui subconsciously realized that she had been impolite and greeted the other person repeatedly.
"Excuse me, have I... seen you somewhere before?" the other person suddenly asked.
