Chapter 66 White-haired Monster
Zhang Wuxun felt a chill run down his spine; this was truly a ghostly sight!
What the hell is this thing?!

Before Zhang Wuxun could react, the ghostly thing, along with its human face mask, launched itself up and leaped, trying to stick to Zhang Wuxun's face.

Zhang Wuxun took out a steel rod from his spatial storage, raised his hand, and flicked it, sending the ghostly thing flying.

Gunshots rang out from above.

It seems the situation is really bad, but unfortunately Zhang Wuxun is too far away to help at this time and can only secretly pray that Xiao Tianzhen can hold on for a little longer.

On the other side, Wu Xiaoxie was being attacked by a group of white-haired monsters, and had many wounds on his body.

Old Yang didn't have time to reload his homemade gun, so he had to use it as a stick to swing at the head of the white-haired monster that was attacking Wu Xiaoxie's back. With a crack, the human face mask shattered, and white fragments fell down, revealing a furry monkey face behind the mask, baring its teeth and lunging at Old Yang.

It's a monkey?!

Lao Yang gripped his homemade gun tightly, ready for battle.

Suddenly, as if possessed, the monkey froze in mid-air. Then, for some unknown reason, its expression changed drastically. Its previously aggressive and ferocious appearance turned into one of extreme fear. With a swift swing, it grabbed a branch and broke free from the battle, running away with a scream.

Lao Yang stood there dumbfounded, completely bewildered.

"Wha...what's going on?"

Wu Xiaoxie swung the torch with all his might, smashing it into the head of the white-haired monster attacking him. He kicked away a head that popped out from beside his feet, but when he pulled his leg back, he accidentally stepped on the saliva flowing from the white-haired monster's mouth. He slipped and almost fell flat on his back. The torch in his hand also flew backward, grazing the white-haired monster crouching to his upper left. It was so hot that the monster jumped and dodged away, not daring to get close. For a while, they were locked in a stalemate.

Lao Yang rushed over to provide support, and with his shotgun fully loaded, he aimed at a head and fired a shot. At close range, the power of the homemade gun blasted the head into mincemeat.

"Wu Xiaoxie... these white-haired monsters are all transformed monkeys."

Lao Yang fired another shot, and he and Wu Xiaoxie stood back to back to defend against the attack.

Wu Xiaoxie suddenly realized, "No wonder these white-haired monsters looked so familiar. They're exactly the same as the monkeys we encountered outside." Lao Yang continued, "The fatal flaw should be that human face mask. I just smashed the mask on one of the monkeys' faces, and the monkey ran away immediately."

"Understood!" Wu Xiaoxie's eyes turned cold. He pulled out a pocket pistol from his inner pocket, aimed at the largest monkey still surrounding them, and fired decisively. The bullet pierced the monkey's head.

Hearing the gunshot, Lao Yang turned around in surprise to look at Wu Xiaoxie and the gun in his hand. "You...you...gun? How do you have a gun?"

Without blinking, Wu Xiaoxie lied, "I just took it from the body of Uncle Tai who fell to his death."

Lao Yang clearly didn't believe it, but he didn't say anything more.

On the branches below, two monkeys were dragging Liang Shiye, who had fainted from exhaustion, down the tree. Wu Xiaoxie quickly took aim and shot him dead with two shots. He then told Lao Yang to keep watch on the monkeys that had not yet retreated, and quickly climbed down, hoisted Liang Shiye onto his back, and put him down.

Old Yang grumbled, "Why do you care about him? We're not even sure if we can save our lives, and we'll have to take this burden with us."

Upon hearing this, Liang Shiye abandoned his feigned unconsciousness, his eyelids twitched, and he opened his eyes, shouting, "It's useful! I'm useful! I can give you advice! You mustn't abandon me!"

Lao Yang kicked him in the leg and cursed, "What kind of ideas can you come up with? If you're so capable, why don't you kill all these dead monkeys?"

Liang Shiye shuddered in pain. He could tell that Lao Yang really wouldn't hold back and might actually leave him behind as bait.

He quickly grabbed Wu Xiaoxie's leg, about to cry out for help, when suddenly a thought flashed through his mind, "That's it! I know how to get rid of these monkeys, a flare gun!"

"These things are afraid of fire; the bright light from a signal flare is enough to scare them away..."
