Chapter 100 A Photograph

Wu Xiaoxie believed that with Muyu's skills and abilities, now that he had escaped, he would definitely be alright.

His expression softened slightly, and he glanced at Lao Yang sideways, letting out a cold snort, "So, what trick are you planning to pull this time?"

Lao Yang remained silent for a long time, as if he didn't know how to explain. He could only smile bitterly, then untied the rope binding Wu Xiaoxie's hands, handed him the canned food, and said, "You eat first."

Wu Xiaoxie rubbed his sore wrists, took the spoon and stirred it. The compressed biscuits were crushed and boiled with water into a thin paste, with some shredded jerky floating on top. It looked really unappetizing, but he couldn't not eat it. He had used up too much energy before and didn't have enough strength. He wouldn't be able to run fast and would be at the mercy of others.

"Go ahead and say it." Wu Xiaoxie scooped up a spoonful and put it in his mouth, chewing slowly. "Say whatever you want to say. As for whether it's true or false, I'll judge for myself."

Lao Yang opened his mouth, then lowered his head and said dejectedly, "Whether you believe it or not, I'll say it again: my purpose isn't to deceive you, but this is the only way to make it work." As he spoke, he stretched out his hand, and a cigarette appeared out of thin air at his fingertips. He lit it by the fire and took a deep drag.

Wu Xiaoxie remained expressionless and indifferent, neither agreeing nor disagreeing with his words.

Lao Yang's control and application of this ability has exceeded his imagination. It seems that there is nothing he cannot do if he wants to. If he wants money, he can just reach out and get it. Therefore, his purpose in coming here from afar is worth considering.

Could there be some flaw in this invincible energy?
Thinking about it is pointless; I'm just a fish on someone else's chopping board now, completely at their mercy.

"Damn it," Wu Xiaoxie thought bitterly. If he had that kind of power, he would turn Lao Yang into a pig immediately, take him to the slaughterhouse, and scare him to death. Lao Yang knew that Wu Xiaoxie's calm expression was hiding deep anger, and that one wrong move could set off an explosion. For a moment, he didn't know what to say and was at a loss for words.

The iron spoon in Wu Xiaoxie's hand scraped against the canned food with a "crackling" sound, which made Lao Yang's heart tremble with fear.

After a long silence, he finally seemed to have come to a compromise, and took out a photo from the inner pocket close to his heart, saying, "Take a look at this first."

Wu Xiaoxie raised an eyebrow, put down the canned food to take it and examine it closely, but Lao Yang dodged it with a flick of his hand. He held the photo very carefully and said in a deep voice, "I'll take it. Just look at it like this."

Seeing that he was unwilling, Wu Xiaoxie did not force him. She shone her flashlight on the photo and found that the woman in the photo looked familiar. Upon closer inspection, she realized that it was Lao Yang's mother.

In his memory, she was a very beautiful, kind, and gentle person. Perhaps the sudden imprisonment of her son was a great blow to her, and coupled with overwork, her hair in the photo was already gray.

During the first year of Lao Yang's imprisonment, he and his father visited her a few times. Later, she moved away without leaving an address for anyone they knew, and they gradually lost contact with her.

He didn't know why Lao Yang wanted to bring out this photo, so he asked directly, "What does it mean?"

Lao Yang sighed, his expression somber, and gave a strained smile. "When I came to you before, I told you that my mother had an accident and I needed money. Actually, I was lying to you. My mother passed away while I was in jail."
