Chapter 737 Rookie
Chapter 737 Rookie
Renault had no intention of overshadowing the main event. The original purpose of this war was to give Weiss a chance to level up and gain experience. Otherwise, these level of orc soldiers could be easily killed by just two dragon riders gathering together. It would only be a matter of using a powerful forbidden spell to wipe them out. As for disrupting the ecological balance, Roland really didn't care.
"Huh? We're going to fight them here? Windhelm?" Ismir suddenly felt like his cerebellum was shrinking. How could his crippled little town possibly hold a battlefield of thousands of people?
“Of course! We’re not the main characters! I’m just making sure those orcs don’t storm into your territory and destroy it, and preventing the orcs’ heavy crossbows!” Renault said matter-of-factly.
"What the heck?" Ismir was stunned. These soldiers weren't the main characters. Could it be... that King Roland was personally leading the expedition?
"The kingdom's newly appointed dragon knight, Weiss, will be the star of this grand performance! You should look forward to the heroic figure of the kingdom's new dragon knight! We will all turn to dust, but the dragon knights are the backbone of the kingdom!" Renault said earnestly. He had an extremely clear understanding of Lagrang: knights are the foundation of Lagrang! Dragon knights are the true core and pillar of this country!
"Dragon Knights? Isn't that overkill?" Ismir was somewhat shocked. Such a grand occasion, and they're using dragon knights? Using forbidden spells to crush ants? Is this just a waste of time?
"What's wrong with the dragon knights? The new generation of dragon knights haven't experienced the baptism of war. They have power but don't know how to use it! They won't be very strong at this stage! War is the best teacher! We don't have time to build up the foundation of our dragon knights. We can only use the fastest method to select qualified candidates!" Renault said calmly, as if he were talking about adding sugar to his coffee.
"..." Ismir frowned. Good heavens, are you raising Gu here? My place has become a Gu breeding ground? What? Don't the lives of the Maloud matter?
……
"Their reinforcements have arrived!" Lydalias said in a deep voice.
"Yes! I saw it!" Cernar declared, indicating that he wasn't blind. Anyone with his scouts who wasn't blind could see such a large heavily armed force crossing the Swift River!
"The adjutant's plan has succeeded! Those soldiers are holding their ground! And they've started to expand their defenses and reinforce the city walls! It looks like they're going to hold their ground!" Lydalias said sinisterly.
"Have they discovered our group?" Cernal whispered.
"Of course! Those dragon riders saw our marching route a long time ago! Our decoy has been under their surveillance the whole time!" Lydalias said smugly.
"Don't be careless! Make sure our people are well hidden!" Cernal emphasized the word "our".
"Don't worry, our elite infantry have already spread out and advanced behind them!" Lydalias said casually.
To prevent his plan from being exposed, Khammur had a backup plan: he scattered a genuine elite orc force to follow this army. This was to draw the humans' attention back when the bait orc army was broken and collapsed, while simultaneously revealing a Ringwraith in battle. This would make the humans think that this was the Ringwraiths' trump card, thus lowering their guard and allowing the orc hidden behind to use a black arrow to kill them in one fell swoop.
"That's good!" Cernal clenched his fist and said somewhat stiffly.
"What should I do?" After turning his head away, Cernal fell into deep self-doubt and struggle, the soul fire in his eyes flickering uncertainly, and the originally scarlet soul fire was turning blue.
"It hurts! It hurts so much!" Cernal's soul murmured, his soul twisting in the shadows.
"What's wrong, Sernar?" Lydalias asked, noticing Sernar's stiff posture.
"No! It's nothing!" Senar reached out and pushed Lydalias away, then turned and left. The turbulent soul fire in his eyes calmed down completely, and the soul fire that was about to turn completely blue turned crimson in an instant.
"That's good! Let's get ready!" Lydalias nodded to Cernar.
……
“Teacher…” Weiss, who was following behind Caslo, spoke to Caslo through the howling air using the battle aura technique he had just learned.
"What's wrong? Is there something you're wondering about?" Caslo turned to look at Weiss curiously. After all, he was a newbie, so Caslo could understand any situation that might arise. "I'm a little nervous..." Weiss lowered his head and said weakly.
“Raise your head! You are a noble dragon knight! What kind of sky knight bows his head? Your goal is the vast starry sky! As for being nervous…” Caslo hesitated for a moment.
"You won't be nervous once you actually step onto this battlefield! In the midst of life-or-death combat, there's no time to think about so much!" Caslo shook his head and chuckled.
"Oh!" Weiss nodded, seemingly understanding but not quite.
……
"You're here?" Renault reached out and hugged Caslo, then pulled a bewildered Weiss over and patted him on the shoulder.
"Hey? Why are you so thin, young man? Did your teacher mistreat you?" Renault teased, patting Weiss on the shoulder. Weiss winced as the powerful pat struck him like a warhammer, making him feel as if he had been hit by a heavy hammer!
"This is General Renault! Commander of Lulong Fortress, Prefect of Lulong!" Caslo smiled at Weiss and introduced him.
"Greetings, General Renault!" Weiss hurriedly performed a knightly salute that he had only recently learned.
"Alright, no need for formalities! You're the star of the show today!" Renault smiled.
"See those forests?" Renault asked, pointing at Weiss with a smirk.
“Of course!” Weiss nodded, puzzled.
"Your enemies are all hidden among them, they are your mission! Kill them all!" Renault coldly pointed into the void.
"What should I do?" Weiss asked, somewhat flustered, but still looked up and straight at Renault.
"You have some courage, but it's not enough! You need to truly experience the tempering of blood and fire, young dragon knight!" Renault muttered softly, nodding in satisfaction while shaking his head in regret.
"Relax, it won't be a difficult task! Killing is simple!" Renault smiled at the nervous Weiss and casually ordered his men to drag over an orc.
"Pfft!" Foul-smelling, dark green blood splattered up. Weiss trembled as he watched the head spin and fly up in front of him, watching helplessly as it rolled to his feet.
"Yue~" Weiss reached up and touched his cheek. The slippery, sticky texture and the fishy smell made him unable to bear it any longer. He turned his head and lay on the ground, vomiting wildly.
"Hahaha! Kid, you're still too green!" Renault swung his longsword and laughed heartily, his eyes full of joy as he excitedly whistled.
"Hey! That's too much!" Caslo, both amused and exasperated, pulled Renault away from the spectacle and handed Weiss a piece of tissue paper to wipe his face.
“What’s this? The real battlefield is far more horrific! You’ll find that even a quick death is sometimes a luxury!” Renault suddenly said seriously, his face turning cold as he looked at Weiss in front of him.
Weiss was clearly stunned by Renault. He stood there for a long time, speechless, his body trembling slightly.
“Follow me for a while! Don’t fly around randomly! Don’t forget your grandfather! He’s waiting for you to return with the flames of revenge!” Caslo patted his head gently.
