Chapter 735 The Flames of War Reignite!
Yes, even powerful forbidden spells have a time limit for taking effect. That brief gap is enough for a skilled person to completely eliminate you. Unless you have a shield on you 24/7 and are covered in automatic defense magic scrolls, a seasoned hunter can shoot down a novice professional with a hunting bow!
"Remember to stick close to your teacher; he is an experienced dragon rider!" Roland instructed.
"Take good care of this child, don't let him get hurt!" Roland nodded to Caslo. As a member of the new generation, Roland valued him highly, as it meant the passing of the torch!
"Don't worry! I'll take good care of him. He's one of the pillars of the kingdom's future!" Caslo nodded. The prestige of a Dragon Knight goes without saying. Just the fact that the entire Kingdom of Lagrange was willing to mobilize its military forces for sparring with him is enough to show the status of a Dragon Knight.
“Alright, be careful, and come back soon! Those orcs won’t pose a threat to the kingdom, but be careful not to let them demolish Lord Ismir’s house!” Roland joked with a smile, clearly relaxed and happy.
"Hahaha! Of course not, we'll arrive on the battlefield just as the orcs are about to tear down their first brick!" Caslo joked with everyone.
"Then you'd better hurry! Their city walls are all made of logs! I'm afraid there aren't any bricks left for them to dismantle!" Omske rolled his eyes and said in a funny tone.
"By the Dragon God! I must thank you! Let's go, Weiss!" Caslo put his arm around Weiss's shoulder and strode outside...
"Oh, oh, oh!" Weiss nodded blankly and was pulled out by Caslo.
“I have a bad feeling about this. How could a regular orc army get so close to us? They don’t seem to have finished healing their wounds yet,” Adolf Heinrich suddenly said after Caslo and the others left.
"Perhaps one of the orcs is a sixth-tier member who's holding the fort?" Omske thought to himself.
“The sixth-tier orcs at Dolgodo Fortress were already killed by us! Even if there were any, they were sent by Mordor!” Roland shook his head, denying Omske’s statement, since Azog and Borg’s corpses were already cold.
“That would be even more inappropriate. The Ringwraiths of Dolgodor are already keeping their tails between their legs. They can’t possibly let our precious high-level combat power be surrounded and annihilated by us!” Adolf Heinrich frowned in confusion. After all, the sixth-tier orcs didn’t just appear out of thin air. Given the orcs’ survival methods, which were like raising poisonous insects, the number and efficiency of sixth-tier orcs were higher and faster, but that didn’t mean Sauron would treat sixth-tier orcs as expendable resources!
Sauron's consciousness had returned, but he was still hiding in Mordor, gathering strength. Moreover, due to Roland's arrival, the original timeline had been altered. Originally, in 2941 of the Third Age, the White Order would have attacked Dorgod, but Sauron had already left beforehand, leaving Dorgod deserted. It wasn't until 2951 of the Third Age that the Ringwraiths returned and reclaimed the city. But now, things were clearly different. After avoiding the White Order, the Ringwraiths immediately returned to Fort Doldor, thus avoiding a major war with the White Order while effectively limiting the power of the North.
"Forget it, let's take it one step at a time! Since they've practically handed us the meat, it would be a disservice to them not to take it!" Roland shook his head, not dwelling on the matter. Anyway, Renault had already made arrangements. Even if some sixth-tier orcs were truly fearless and wanted to court death, Roland wouldn't mind letting them have their way. As for the Ringwraiths? Roland had certainly considered the threat of the Ringwraiths, but he didn't believe they would risk having their lair destroyed to run rampant. After all, the Star Elves had already contacted the elves of the Golden Forest, waiting for Dolgodo to reveal a fatal weakness! The elves might not be willing to engage in a siege, but they weren't opposed to sneaking in.
……
"What did the kingdom say, Lord Dos?" Ismir asked anxiously, looking at Anthony Dos who had just landed. It was clear that the existence of a regular orc army had indeed frightened him. Ismir was really unsure of himself in the face of an orc detachment that even a baron might not be able to withstand.
"Don't worry, General Reno will arrive with his troops soon, your territory will be safe!" Anthony Doss reassured Ismir, who was anxiously looking around. "General Reno will lead the troops personally?"
"Yes!"
"The kingdom has sent its regular army to provide support?"
"Yes!"
"So you're saying I don't need to run anymore?"
"Yes!"
Anthony Doss patiently answered Lord Ismir's questions. If the kingdom truly had no intention of supporting Windhelm, then Windhelm was already doomed. Ismir would have to make his own arrangements: whether to rally his forces for a desperate fight or pack up and run away was entirely up to him. This situation wouldn't be considered abandoning his fiefdom and fleeing. In the face of a war with no chance of victory, running away with his people was the only sensible course of action. Staying behind to fight to the death would only leave everyone with nothing but the title of "warrior" for gossip.
"That's good! That's good!" Ismir rubbed his hands together happily. You see, Ismir was much more panicked than Anthony Dos when faced with an attack from a regular orc army. After all, Anthony Dos just packed up and flew away, while Ismir could only squat here miserably.
"That's it! Send the signal! Tell Ymir and the others to come back!" Ismir slapped his forehead, suddenly remembering that Ymir and the others were still holding back the orcs on the outside.
When Ymir learned that the orcs were approaching Windhelm, she had no choice but to lead a squad of goblin knights to harass and contain them. Fortunately, their appearance gave Khammur a solution to the orcs' rapid advance in the wasteland. With the Ringwraiths' deliberate indulgence, Ymir and the goblin knights managed to fight the wandering orcs disguised as a regular army to a standstill.
……
"Pfft!" The sharp, giant serpentine greatsword sliced through the orc in front of him like a piece of pork.
"General Ymir! How come these orcs are so weak?" Goblin knights, riding their boars, surrounded them from all sides. Each knight's lance was laden with orc carcasses, and many of the boars' tusks were also adorned with orc corpses. They had just wiped out an orc search party. These fully armed orcs, while well-equipped, were generally demoralized and lacked tactical acumen. If it weren't for their armor, the goblin knights would have almost mistaken them for the roaming orcs they routinely chased (and they guessed right).
"I don't know, but don't be careless! The enemy's attack has just begun, and we need to be careful that this is their bait!" Ymir said in a deep voice, hoisting his heavy sword which was as big as a door panel.
