The Lord of the Rings: Lords of Middle-earth.
Chapter 525 Whose knights offer a buy-one-get-one-free deal?
Chapter 525 Whose knight is buy one get one free?!
"By the Dragon God!" Renoir muttered. The scene below made even a dragon like him shudder. A massive number of skeletons surged toward the south like a sea of bones.
"Damn it, there are tens of thousands of undead here!" Ajax frowned, clearly furious at these undead who had desecrated corpses.
"A high-ranking undead is leading the way! Be careful!" Ajax spotted the Death Knight hidden among the undead.
"Let's deal with them! Otherwise, the southern kingdoms will be finished!" Renoir roared as he swooped down.
"The wrath of the dragon!" Renoir's chest suddenly swelled, and then a scorching dragon's breath swept across a thousand meters! Countless undead were reduced to ashes in the dragon's flames, their ashes swirling in the breeze...
"Roar!" The high-ranking undead raised their heads and roared to the sky, as attacks imbued with death energy swept towards the heavens.
"Dodge!" Ajax yanked on the reins, narrowly saving Reynolds from the black arrows hurtling down below!
"Pull them up! Don't linger! These guys have Black Arrows!" Ajax was exasperated. All she wanted to do was grab Thorin by the neck and ask how many of those dragon-slaying Black Arrows these little dwarves had squandered? How come all the undead awakened from the underworld had Black Arrows?
"No problem!" Renoir used a dragon language spell to destroy the black arrow that flew high into the sky.
"They were thrown up here, thankfully they don't have heavy crossbows!" Renoir turned around and swooped down again, this time landing directly on the ground!
With immense power, he easily crushed a large number of undead with his sharp dragon claws. As dragon power flowed into his wings, he suddenly closed them to envelop himself, and then began to spin wildly! Dragon Language Magic - Dragon Flame Vortex!
A crimson tornado shot straight into the sky. This was a true tornado composed of pure fire dragon power. Anything caught in it was melted by the scorching dragon power! The undead wailed and shattered into ashes. Even a death knight who couldn't dodge in time was devoured by the dragon flames after resisting for a few dozen seconds!
"Roar!" As the vortex of dragon flame dissipated, Renoir, roaring to the sky, stood atop the ashes in the last ray of light. Behind him lay endless darkness, but he had illuminated a patch of light!
"Sin! Be punished!" Ajax leaped off the dragon's back, tumbled in the air, and then drew her longsword, bringing it down with both hands.
"Crack!" As the last struggling Death Knight's flickering soul flame went out, all the undead, except those who had escaped, were left behind.
"Tsk!" Grabbing a handful of still-warm ashes, Ajax's eyes flashed with a solemn look. There were three death knights among this group of undead. Although they were newly born death knights and their ranks were not high, their growth potential made Ajax very worried. After all, one death knight had escaped!
“Worrying is useless! Ringwraiths aren’t so easy to create, otherwise there wouldn’t only be 9 Ringwraiths after all these years!” Renoir shook his huge head.
“I’m more concerned about their numbers than that! There are three Death Knights among so few undead… If they are the real Scourge…” A flicker of fear crossed Ajax’s eyes.
"Be content. There's still a chance that a Death Lord will be born from tens of thousands of undead..." Renoir was both amused and exasperated. A Death Knight who was only at the third tier had already broken Ajax's defenses. What if a sixth-tier Death Lord was born? Wouldn't that scare her to death?
“We’ve dealt with these undead and assessed the situation. We shouldn’t linger here; we should be going!” Renoir urged Ajax to mount the dragon saddle.
“Shouldn’t we continue north to take a look?” Ajax asked hesitantly.
"...If you really want to add a bone dragon and a high-ranking death knight to their party, I don't mind continuing north!" Renoir's dragon face was practically twitching. After all, what respectable knight would contribute to the undead army's cause? Especially with a buy-one-get-one-free offer... Judging by this, if they really encounter the main force of the Scourge, they'll probably get an extra bone dragon!
"To be honest, I refuse to appear anywhere with Dragonbows and Black Arrows! And any dragon would probably refuse!" Renoir was very reluctant. After all, Dragonbows were defensive weapons in the Imperial Dragon Tower, and apart from Lagrang, probably no one else possessed them. But the commoner's dragon-slaying artifact—the Black Arrow!—was practically a given in Middle-earth! "Uh..." Ajax's lips twitched. After all, she wouldn't take the blame; the dwarves should! When the dragons ravaged Middle-earth, the dwarves forged a large number of Black Arrows. Forging only stopped after the various races signed a peace treaty and the dragons retreated to Dragon Island. How many Black Arrows were sold by the dwarves during that time, and how many still existed, was probably only known to the Dragon God! Clearly, Renoir was still young, and he didn't want to meet the Dragon God yet.
“Alright! Let’s go back!” Ajax nodded. Having a cautious dragon often avoids most traps, but it also means missing many opportunities to advance. Not every dragon is as reckless as Kamodo! With that hot-tempered duo around, they’d probably just wipe out all these undead along the way…
……
"Your Majesty! Our vanguard has been completely wiped out!" A lich knelt respectfully on one knee before a figure shrouded in black robes.
"Ha... The Scourge of the Undead has arrived, and they will eventually perish! You all know Lord Angmar's orders! To maintain the operation of the forbidden spell, we still need a large number of soldiers!" A hoarse voice rang out, behind him was a huge teleportation array! One by one, the undead crawled out from it, including many high-ranking undead such as death knights.
"Soon! Soon! Soon all of Middle-earth will submit to Your Majesty! Lord Sauron will return! The surging undead will devour all life! Hahahaha!" A mad and piercing laugh rang out.
"Roar!" A decaying yet majestic roar echoed from the teleportation array, accompanied by the sound of a massive skeleton...
……
"Pay attention to reinforcing the gaps! The outer walls also need reinforcement!" Apophis Breo was directing everyone to work day and night on the fortifications around Lion Castle.
Because there is only one path leading to the mountaintop platform, Apophis Breo plans to build a pass at the junction of the path and the platform. This would better protect Lionhold and provide it with a greater strategic buffer, preventing the orcs from directly reaching Lionhold if the old pass falls. (Although Apophis Breo never intended to defend the original pass in the first place.)
"Give me some mud! Cover this up!"
"I need bricks!"
"Bring the wood and mud over! Quickly! This needs to dry!"
As he watched the wooden and stone structure he had designed slowly take shape at the pass, Apophis Breo felt immense joy. For the first time, he felt an unprecedented sense of belonging here. This was his territory! The fiefdom of the Lion King's family! He was the supreme being here!
