Chapter 432 Behemoth
The lowest level of a Behemoth is a high-level magical beast, and the most powerful Golden Behemoth can even reach the level of a natural disaster. The only thing to be thankful for is that this thing hardly uses magic attacks, but its terrifying brute force that can tear apart a dragon should not be underestimated!
At this moment, the stone wall at the east gate of Moria is facing the greatest test and disaster in its history since its construction!
A high-level magical beast—the Bronze Behemoth—violently demolishes a house!
……
“It’s a Behemoth! A bronze Behemoth!” Thorin said with a dark expression.
"Sorin, we can't let it destroy the city walls! It will collapse this place!" Balin said anxiously.
"Boom!" Everyone felt themselves jump up, accompanied by the sound of rocks breaking, and the candlelight in the cave flickered.
“We have to find a way to take it down!” Thorin said firmly.
Because the main gate of Moria's east gate had been completely destroyed in the battle, with stone pillars and other structures collapsing, leaving only a few difficult, intersecting gaps in the ruins that led to the outside world, the dwarves were guarding these few passages and fighting with the orcs.
"Go out through the secret passage! Thorin, kill it! Otherwise, it will completely destroy Moria!" Balin's face was full of terror. After all, if a Behemoth really broke in, even if it was just the lowest-level Bronze Behemoth, Moria was destined to fall! Even if the dwarves successfully killed the Behemoth with their lives, the endless stream of orcs behind it would inevitably overwhelm Moria's defenders.
"Dvalin! Call the crossbowmen and come with me!" Thorin waved his hand and said to Dvalin.
“Alright!” Dvalin nodded, and he called over several dwarves to disassemble the huge dwarven crossbow in preparation for carrying it out through the secret passage.
……
"Turin above!" Thorin stared in awe at the Behemoth before him. Only after Thorin and his group, who had come out through a secret passage on the side, had the opportunity to observe the enormous Behemoth in detail.
This grayish-yellow Behemoth was about twenty meters long, its back covered in hard scales. Its overall appearance resembled a gorilla with a lizard's tail. Two massive, curved horns pointed skyward from its hideous head, and its scarred face bore a gaping maw with four jagged fangs protruding from its lips. Its thick, powerful forelimbs contrasted sharply with its short hind limbs. At this moment, it was frantically hammering and digging into the stone wall of Moria's east gate, its forelimbs adorned with thick, sharp claws. Judging by the horrifying cracks in the stone, one could tell that being hit by it would certainly not result in getting up to demand compensation.
"Quickly!" Dvalin led a few dwarves to assemble the heavy crossbows that they had painstakingly carried out, but it was still a bit troublesome to put the disassembled crossbows back together.
"Beard on top! How did this thing grow like that?!" Balin had climbed up there without anyone noticing.
"..." The group exchanged glances, and their eyes twitched.
"Wait for us! Your Highness Balin!" Olioyin struggled to climb out of the secret passage.
Thorin and Dvalin exchanged a glance and couldn't help but glare at the two of them.
"Hurry up and take Bahrain back!" Sorin glared at the two men and urged them on. Did these three think the place wasn't chaotic enough already?
Seeing that the three clowns had finally left, Thorin quickly called to the crossbowmen to set up their heavy crossbows. "Quick, quick! Aim for its head!"
Thorin impatiently ordered his soldiers to aim at Behemoth, who was destroying the stone wall. As another soldier mounted an armor-piercing heavy arrow onto a crossbow, the two soldiers worked together to move the crossbow and aim it at Behemoth's head.
"Release!" Thorin shouted, waving his hand sharply.
With a "whoosh," the taut bowstring propelled the armor-piercing arrow straight out, heading straight for the Behemoth amidst the expectant gazes of the crowd.
"Agh!" Behemoth let out a shrill scream that echoed through the sky.
"Roar!" Thorin stood up excitedly and waved his hands, and the others also stood up excitedly and clenched their fists tightly.
"Roar!" The enraged Behemoth cleaved the arrow in its face with a single claw. Amidst the flying wood chips, Thorin and his group fell silent... It turned out that the powerful blow had only managed to break through a layer of the Behemoth's skin. Everyone stood on the mountainside, silently watching the enraged Behemoth.
"Thorin, I think we should probably go..." Dvalin, seeing that things were not going well, tried to pull Thorin away to escape.
"Load!" Thorin shoved the crowd aside, sat down behind the heavy crossbow, and roared at the dwarf holding the arrows.
"Your Highness..." The soldier hurriedly lifted the crossbow bolt onto the heavy crossbow. After a tooth-grinding whirring sound, there was a "click" as the crossbow was locked in place.
"Whoosh!" Thorin suddenly pulled the trigger of his crossbow, and a thick, armor-piercing arrow shot towards the Behemoth that was wreaking havoc below.
"Clang—Tear—" Perhaps Thorin missed by a fraction, the heavy arrow that shot out struck the Behemoth's back and bounced off, leaving a trail of sparks in everyone's round eyes as the armor-piercing arrow grazed its back...
"Load!" Thorin growled, bloodshot eyes appearing on his face.
"Your Highness... this is the last one..." the dwarf said, trembling as he held the armor-piercing arrow.
Because at this moment, the Behemoth that was being attacked had realized that someone was attacking it. It shook its huge head and scanned its surroundings with cold eyes. It had already sensed that "insects" were attacking it.
"Load!" Thorin said in a deep voice.
As the last arrow was loaded into the receiver, Thorin held his breath and slowly aimed his heavy crossbow at the still roaring Behemoth.
"Whoosh!" Thorin pulled the trigger sharply, and before the attack could produce any results, he grabbed two soldiers around him.
"Hurry up!" Thorin kicked Dvalin in the butt, sending him shoving into the secret passage.
……
"Ow~"
Sure enough, just two seconds after Thorin and the others entered the secret passage, a chilling and shrill scream suddenly rang out!
"Bang!" Everyone turned their heads and saw that the outside was already covered in flying stone chips. The dwarven heavy crossbow left outside had been reduced to parts. Everyone swallowed hard and looked at each other with a sense of relief. They had no doubt that if they had left it outside, it would have ended up as a pile of minced meat.
"I think I shot it in the eye!" Thorin waved his arm excitedly.
“But most of the secret passage was also smashed!” Balin nudged him, interrupting Thorin’s reverie.
“Oh, we’ll clear it out, won’t we?” Thorin and Balin quickly bent down and lifted the rubble. They didn’t know what Behemoth had used to attack the area, but it had smashed down a lot of rocks the size of human heads, blocking most of the dwarves’ secret passage to the outside world.
"Awooo~" The mournful howl of the Behemoth outside faintly reached everyone's ears.
"Boom!" The mountain shook slightly, and everyone quickly grabbed the wall for support.
"That thing is crashing into the mountain!" Thorin squinted and quickly discerned the Behemoth's movements.
